How much should that be?

£3.50 sounds like a lot. At my supermarket:

2 x lemons - 60p
One blood orange - 50p
One cabbage - 60p

Veg and fruit usually can't be compared to supermarket prices.
It's like comapring sausages from butchers vs asda smart price. Neither have to be the best quality, but there will be difference.

Fair comparison would be small greengrocer vs small greengrocer.

DishingOutDone · 29/01/2021 17:45

Sounds like the worst smoothie ever.

JovialNickname · 29/01/2021 17:50

What are you making?

Is it a drink and will it have vodka in it?

Dislocatedeyeballs · 29/01/2021 18:00

In answer to someone blood oranges are delish super sweet n juicy always yum but messy but much more reliable than shit oranges which are the ones I quite often end up with..

Sorry - it has been a bit of a day and my inner core of cow popped up. Flowers

YanTanTethera123 · 29/01/2021 20:19

I’m not surprised; my local shop wanted £3.50 for three skinny leeks 😳

@movingonup20

£1.50 Newfoundland Dh
You’ve got a Newfoundland DH? Very posh! They’re not cheap

@ODFOx

In Tesco about £2 if it's a Savoy cabbage and standard not special lemons. No idea elsewhere: I once took a beef tomato to the till in Waitrose and was mortified when she weighed it and asked for £2.73. Too embarrassed to say no thanks! I used it as a show tomato around the house for a couple of days before eating it. Smile
Absolutely lolling at show tomato, thanks for that.
LetItGoGo · 29/01/2021 20:54

Oh god I'd missed this. I feel the embarrassment as I'd have done the same.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 30/01/2021 10:43

I am surprised by this, I always use my local greengrocer and find them good value for money, I have had my fruit and veg delivery this morning and this was the contents.

Cost was £12.50 with free delivery.

Is it a regional thing? I am in Lincolnshire which is obviously a farming county so don't know how much of a difference that makes.

That looks good value. It's probably your area! Our localish farm shops are very expensive and aiming at the well off. We go for seasonal things occasionally!

VestaTilley · 30/01/2021 11:06

Anymore than £5 and you’ve been had.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 30/01/2021 11:38

TheCoolNightAirLikeShalimar2 · 30/01/2021 12:09
