AIBU to think it's weird to have a toilet in your bedroom?

My neighbours have put their house on the market recently so I had a nosey online and saw that they have a toilet in the bedroom Grin. A bath, sink and loo but no screening or bifold doors for privacy.
Even if there wasn't anyone in the room while you used it it's bloody odd isn't it?
I don't get it. Have seen it quite often on escape to the country/grand designs etc...
If you have one why? Confused

I like ensuites, they're great for jumping into a shower almost straight from the bed and for when you need a wee in the middle of the night. The non-en suite toilet is for pooping.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/01/2021 19:30

Looking at floor plan. There are 5 other bedrooms. 4 en-suite

One doesn’t. And no family bathroom. So where does that bedroom go to the loo

Downstairs

What are those creepy skeleton dolls all about? Confused

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 28/01/2021 19:33

Oh my God. That sounds horrendous

I don't even like an ensuite if you have a partner. The idea of being in bed and hearing hubby peeing or worse🤮

Kljnmw3459 · 28/01/2021 19:33

Oh God no, that's wrong. Horrifying. No no no!!!!

Kljnmw3459 · 28/01/2021 19:34

Otherwise it's a lovely house.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 28/01/2021 19:35

Let's face it, it's nothing about being trendy, we all know it's purely to do with keeping costs down. No idiot would consider a hotel that offers the toilet within the bedroom to be "luxury", no matter what price they're trying to charge.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 28/01/2021 19:36

Dear Lord t'is the stuff my nightmares are made of!! Like many on here! Sat in a room. Having a poo while people are just THERE. Shock

Makes me laugh thinking of all the Z list "celebs" tweeting about staying in such and such a hotel and you know they've been shitting in front of their partner the whole time. Grin

I'm not sure what picture 11 is. A cupboard? A sauna ?

Also has anyone noticed the scarecrow in picture 13

idloveapie · 28/01/2021 19:39

good god that is just plain weird.

Also a round of applause for the person who called it a khazi, I've not heard that word in years!

Livelovebehappy · 28/01/2021 19:40

I don’t like the current trend of having a bath plonked in the middl3 of your Bedroom either. When I have a bath I like to relax, alone, with the bathroom door locked. Although I can see how some couples would like it.

Dahlietta · 28/01/2021 19:42

I'm also more concerned about the skeletons now.

MadinMarch · 28/01/2021 19:43

If only Freud lived to be on Mumsnet....

EssentiallyDelighted · 28/01/2021 19:43

Good grief. It says it's virtually brand new and it looks like an amazing building but I would want to gut every single room.

MadinMarch · 28/01/2021 19:46

None of you have lived at all unless you've lived on a houseboat... Grin

CompleteBarstool · 28/01/2021 19:47

Pics 11 and 12 seem to show a sauna with a clear glass window/door with the view of a toilet that's right next to it.

So maybe they've got a thing about watching each other on the bog. Romantic eh?

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 28/01/2021 19:48

Each to their own as not for I to judge. However hypothetically as a prospective buyer I would consider this extraordinary and odd unless it was for a particular medical disability requirement. En suites in a separate adjoining room or at least hotel spacious suite style partition etc or walk in dressing rooms are fine but a full on water closet and shower enclosure etc not so much.

Girlyracer · 28/01/2021 19:48

Prison cells do that. Weird.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 28/01/2021 19:49

@IrmaFayLear

What I would really like is an outside loo - a privy. Indoors ones as well, of course, but I would like to banish some members of the household with their favourite publication to somewhere more open to the elements...
Yes me too! DS2 could go outside for one of his 45 minute shits.
Suzi888 · 28/01/2021 19:59

I don’t like en-suites either. Handy yes, hygienic? Not so sure.... Hmm

MessAllOver · 28/01/2021 20:04

This used to be the sort of thing which would gross me out but having just been through potty training and with a toddler who likes to keep me company in the loo, I'm surprisingly relaxed now.

I hope I go back to being grossed out at some point.
