To make an offer on this house even though we won't be able to move in for another 6 months?

I've fallen in love with this house:

swoon

We were planning to move after ds has completed A-levels this summer. Obviously there is uncertainty around what form these will take, but we didn't want to disrupt him until they're done and dusted either way.

But I am a little bit gutted because this place has everything we'd be looking for - size, style, location, budget - and these sorts of properties tend to go quickly.

We could, probably, get a mortgage for it. We are FTBers so no chain. We currently live with family.

I'm completely insane, right?

It seems expensive for the area but I love it! Get a mortgage in principle so you are proceedable and make an offer if you love it.

Seems to make it pretty clear that the OP a) likes the house, b) likes the area and c) thinks the price is fair.

Love it, think it’s gorgeous. I’m in a 2 bed terrace house with no parking and nothing goes below £550k here so seems a bargain to me!

I do appreciate your continuing efforts on this thread @StillCoughingandLaughing Grin

@cultkid, thank you, I will take a look at Minnis Bay. We are basically thinking of anywhere on the coast to the east of Whitstable and down to Ramsgate.

DH is being the sensible voice of reason and thinks we should wait until
we have our full deposit in place before viewing. But yes, for anyone who is concerned, I promise we will get a full structural survey for any house we offer on...I couldn't imagine not doing that anyway!

Have you ever been to Deal and Sandwich? They’re so much nicer.

BubblyBarbara · 31/01/2021 16:43

I could never live in a town named after a food

TatianaBis · 31/01/2021 16:48

As if everyone doesn’t know sandwiches were supposedly named after the Earl of Sandwich.

Henio · 31/01/2021 16:53

You'll need a mortgage in principle to buy it now, so your deposit would be what you have at the moment, if that's an option for you then definitely go for it

CeaseAndDesist · 30/03/2021 18:01

We didn't buy the house - went to view and it turned out to be tenanted until October so wasn't suitable for us in the end. It's now SSTC anyway.

It was fab though and now we've spent several weekends in Ramsgate house-hunting, and WE LOVE IT so ner to the naysayers Grin Can't wait to find The House and finally move there for good.
