Cleaner trying on employers makeup

seaclaidte · 27/01/2021 17:21

Would this be a sackable offense for most?
It's a new cleaner by the way. Self employed, so no agency.

Also it was a lipstick.
House owner had left the house but came back to retrieve forgotten item and caught cleaner in the act.

To be fair yes, I’d end it for that. It’s gross.

ApolloandDaphne · 27/01/2021 17:23

Absolutely. That is overstepping the boundaries and huge lack of respect for the clients belongings.

RuggeryBuggery · 27/01/2021 17:24

Like... tried it on her lips? Directly? 😮

ExplodingCarrots · 27/01/2021 17:24

Sacked on the spot for me. All trust would be gone out the window and I'd wonder what she'd be doing with the rest of my things.

WeakAsIAm · 27/01/2021 17:25

Eww very much over stepping Confused

RuggeryBuggery · 27/01/2021 17:25

Definitely. I’d say something like ‘I’m sure you understand why we don’t be able to have you back’

CareBear50 · 27/01/2021 17:25

Clearly lacking personal boundaries. I'd get rid. She/he cannot be trusted

haiiiryyyleggs · 27/01/2021 17:25

I would say, so during covid especially, not hygienic at all.

Where will they stop?

Squirt of perfume?
Deodorant?
Hair spray?
Skin care products?

It all adds up and for me it makes them not trustworthy if they're going to help themselves to your personal items.

CrotchBurn · 27/01/2021 17:25

I can understand it. Once when I was a babysitter I tried on the woman's perfume and then she came back earlier than I expected and I fucking reeked of the stuff! 🙈

tttigress · 27/01/2021 17:26

It's bad, but lipstick makes it double bad!

I would sack, can't really think of any mitigating circumstances for such as disgusting thing.

Iliketeaagain · 27/01/2021 17:26

🤢. Gross - yes that would be a deal breaker for me. I would think that cleaner had zero boundaries, and I wouldn't want them working in my home.

Twickerhun · 27/01/2021 17:26

Yes that would’ve an end to the arrangement for me

HintOfVintagePink · 27/01/2021 17:27

Yuck! Yes sackable. I’d probably give her the lipstick as a parting gift.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 27/01/2021 17:27

Sackable offence in normal times but doubly so in a pandemic!

lemorella · 27/01/2021 17:28

Yes sackable for sure.

Aside from Covid what about passing on cold-sores Confused

myBumJuiceSmellsLikeRoses · 27/01/2021 17:28

Something on the mouth....during a pandemic?

It's gross at the best of times, think cold sores, etc. but right now - you honestly have to ask?

Viviennemary · 27/01/2021 17:28

Lipstick testing is vile. A spray of perfume I'd let it go. Ive far too much anyway so wouldn't begrudge it. Still a bit cheeky though but very common.

DareIask · 27/01/2021 17:29

Instantly dismissed. Don't ask for a reference if you ever want to work again.

NovemberR · 27/01/2021 17:30

Yes. It shows an incredible lack of boundaries.

Particularly at a time when Covid and social distancing mean that people are very wary of passing on infections.

I'd use RuggeryBuggery's words.

Ileflottante · 27/01/2021 17:31

Did you do it or is it your cleaner?

PyjamaFan · 27/01/2021 17:31

Yuck.

And during Covid?

Definitely sackable. The cleaner is untrustworthy and unhygienic.

WINKINGatyourage · 27/01/2021 17:32

Ewwww!

Sacked immediately!

GrumpyHoonMain · 27/01/2021 17:32

Yes sackable.

WhereDoMyBluebirdsFly · 27/01/2021 17:32

Perfume is ok, it's normal to be curious about how it smells and doesn't involve sharing bodily secretions. Putting lipstick on her lips, in a pandemic?! No. So unhygienic.

Sally872 · 27/01/2021 17:33

I am very easy going but would sack for that. Especially during a pandemic!!!
