To go back in again about movements?

QuestionQuestionTime · 26/01/2021 17:08

Sorry I know this is AIBU.

I was at the hospital at the weekend for monitoring due to what I felt was reduced movements. All was fine when I was there and I had a scan the next day (Sunday) which again showed all fine. Baby movements were back to normal by the scan.

However, I'm lay here today and I just feel the same way again.

Should I go back again despite all being fine just a day ago?

I'm 39 weeks. I feel like I'm wasting their time.

Yes, you should go!

lockedownloretta · 26/01/2021 17:10

have you done the whole glass of icy water, change position, etc?

DoubleHelix79 · 26/01/2021 17:10

Definitely go in. They'd much rather do another scan than risk missing something that puts your baby at risk.

QuestionQuestionTime · 26/01/2021 17:11

@lockedownloretta

have you done the whole glass of icy water, change position, etc?
Yes. I've also had a bath which usually gets him going and nothing Sad I have felt him today just not as much as I usually would.

I will call them now.

yes - go - never feel bad for getting this checked out

lockedownloretta · 26/01/2021 17:24

i think he is busy packing his suitcases and turning off the fridge etc

yes, definitely call-don't take any chances

NoWordForFluffy · 26/01/2021 17:26

*i think he is busy packing his suitcases and turning off the fridge etc

Babies' movements don't reduce when labour is imminent.

OP, get straight to the antenatal ward for monitoring (as you're likely doing right now).

Grace58 · 26/01/2021 17:36

Agree, always go.

Thedogscollar · 26/01/2021 17:38

Midwife here. Please go in as your baby should still be moving in a normal pattern for you right up to their birth.
In our unit if you have reduction in fetal movements more than twice and you are term they will offer induction.
Please go in asap the midwife will not be annoyed and you are most definitely not wasting their time.
Goodluck OP hopefully baby is just having a sleep. Flowers

Clackyheels · 26/01/2021 17:40

Go in.

Eeve · 26/01/2021 17:42

Please please go

MaskingForIt · 26/01/2021 17:43

Go in. They would rather have you in again unnecessarily than have you not in when you needed to be.

Take your maternity bag in the car with you in case they want you to stay in.

Good luck.

SinkGirl · 26/01/2021 17:44

Go. Go now. Go every time. Don’t worry about being a bother - they want you to go.

One of my twins stopped moving and I had to have an EMCS very soon after getting to hospital. If I had waited he definitely wouldn’t be here. Seriously go.

maddening · 26/01/2021 17:46

Always go in for reduced movements

Bambam2019 · 26/01/2021 17:47

Absolutely go!! You are not wasting their time. You are not ‘being dramatic’. Go!

Markies · 26/01/2021 17:51

Yes, all day long. I went in at 39 weeks for reduced movements and as it was my second instance they ended up inducing me that day even though there was no problems with baby - they just didn’t want to take any chances with baby being full term.

MissBaskinIfYoureNasty · 26/01/2021 18:01

Go. Every single time just go. Don't question yourself.

MissBaskinIfYoureNasty · 26/01/2021 18:03

And can I say, I'm sure suggestions of ice water etc mean well but if you have to do unusual things to get your baby to move, you still need to get checked out.

Runkle · 26/01/2021 18:04

Go in.

Sh05 · 26/01/2021 18:10

Please call and go in. Take your hospital bag just in case. My sil was very worried about reduced movement towards the end and they offered to induce her as she was so close to her due date. Baby was fine but best to get checked.

TheVolturi · 26/01/2021 18:13

Definitely go! I was made to feel ridiculous by my mother when I was pregnant with second and had reduced movement. It was a good job I followed my instincts and went in.

QuestionQuestionTime · 26/01/2021 18:23

I'm here. Just waiting to be seen. Didn't think to bring hospital bag! I didn't realise they might induce (providing nothing is wrong obviously).

TheVolturi · 26/01/2021 18:25

Well done op fingers crossed for you.

boymum9 · 26/01/2021 18:25

Glad you're there! No one ever made me feel silly at the hospital for doing the same so don't ever worry about that! Smile

Indoctro · 26/01/2021 18:38

I had two reduced movement visits to hospital at 39 weeks over space of few days. So they induced me as said baby was safer out than in at that point so be prepared to be induced.

It was fine though Smile nice easy and straightforward birth
