To go back in again about movements?

QuestionQuestionTime · 26/01/2021 17:08

Sorry I know this is AIBU.

I was at the hospital at the weekend for monitoring due to what I felt was reduced movements. All was fine when I was there and I had a scan the next day (Sunday) which again showed all fine. Baby movements were back to normal by the scan.

However, I'm lay here today and I just feel the same way again.

Should I go back again despite all being fine just a day ago?

I'm 39 weeks. I feel like I'm wasting their time.

Good to hear you went in. I had reduced movements at 39+1 and went in, they found she had an ectopic heart beat and as I was over 39 weeks they induced and she was born happy and healthy the next day. Iirc if you're over 39 weeks in my area they will induce for all instances of reduced movement.

My bags were still in the car when I had my emcs. They asked me if I had nappies on the way to theatre and I started crying about how I had failed as a mother before they were even out as I didn’t have any nappies (in fairness I was a bit hysterical generally). They obviously had nappies, and everything else we needed until DH could go and get the bags!

RandomMess · 26/01/2021 18:48

I'm sure someone can drop it off if need be. So glad you are there.

Sadly stillbirth rates have increased since Covid as woman are more reluctant to get checked out/relieving pressure on NHS.

Any change in movements should always be checked out Thanks

I'm on the machine, he seems okay although I am having some cramping which is showing on the monitor. Not sure if it's just Braxton Hicks as not hugely painful but feels a bit period-like.

So glad he’s ok - maybe he’s on his way

DartmoorDoughnut · 26/01/2021 18:56

Good luck Flowers

rubybarley · 26/01/2021 18:58

you’ve done the right thing

Vtech · 26/01/2021 19:06

Yes, you should always go in. They would rather see you then times and everything be fine than miss the one time it wasn’t.

littlemissalwaystired · 26/01/2021 19:10

Midwife here, glad you went in! Just wanted to reiterate the point that we'd ALWAYS rather see someone and have everything be fine, than leave it and have the worst happen.

QuestionQuestionTime · 26/01/2021 19:12

Thanks, I'm really glad I'm here as I'm actually really sore now and midwife seemed pretty surprised at the regularity and length of the tightenings that are showing up!

Not letting me leave until I've had a physical exam due to the tightenings.

Really pleased you went in.

Whydoireadthis · 26/01/2021 19:52

Go! Please don’t worry about anybody thinks. I went in three times, once in a different city. Each time I felt stupid as soon as they confirmed everything was alright but I was glad I went too x

Sh05 · 26/01/2021 20:00

So glad to hear that you've gone in. Good luck with the birth.

TheRogueApostrophe · 26/01/2021 20:06

Good luck op. With regular tightenings at 39 weeks you might not be going anywhere any time soon! Do you have someone to bring your bag in for you?

QuestionQuestionTime · 26/01/2021 20:14

Okay so been examined, babys head very low, 2cm dilated and having regular and quite long contractions! Not going anywhere yet, had a sweep and another exam in a couple of hours!

DH on his way with bags just incase! Very very glad I came in!

Good news OP! You certainly did the right thing. Smile

CandlesBlanketsandTea · 26/01/2021 20:18

I'm so pleased that you listened to everyone on this thread who encouraged you to go in, Mumsnet at its best. Im not shamelessly placemarking in case this turns into a live birth thread

RandomMess · 26/01/2021 20:25

2cm dilated 🥳

Sounds like a live labour thread to me!

lockedownloretta · 26/01/2021 20:39
