Inspired by the white bag thread, it just got me curious. I’m not a journo! Although, I suppose that’s what a journalist would say.. Grin

Have you / do you take drugs? What did you take and why did you?

I’ll be honest and go first, I occassinally use MDMA and I do use coke on nights. But I don’t have kids and I’d stop as soon as I was having them

Wine, which is a drug. I think I tried pot a couple times in my teens and 20s and tried making hash brownies once but did not like the effect at all.

@PoleToPole

Yes indeed HippoOnMyRoofEatingCake, and we should all be questioning our own behaviour and adjusting it when necessary.
Absolutely.
TheMarzipanDildo · 26/01/2021 13:54

With the exception of alcohol and painkillers, no. I once tried to smoke a cigarette but I balanced in on my ear and it fell off.

DinnaeFashSassenach · 26/01/2021 13:58

Only smoking weed at a friends house on occasion as a teenager.

And getting spiked by my drug taking asshole acquaintances because I politely declined one day and said I don't take drugs. They spiked me on the way home, where I lived alone and didn't have friends nearby and anything could have happened. Thankfully I only FELT like I was dying but didn't actually do so.

And I've been drugged and raped.

But hey, he died (in his late 20's/early 30"s not long after so ::shrug::

*There is no way of ethically shopping for illegal drugs, sure, they might tell you there are, but people cannot honestly believe that rubbish, its just another way of absolving their guilty consciences when they put their own pleasure and self interest first.

As HibernatingTill2030 says, unless you make, grow your own or harvest from the wild it cannot be ethical, and if you are doing it that way you are not a "shopper".*

I'm sure you'll believe what you want to believe but I don't buy street drugs and the mushrooms and weed I buy are grown by friends. This is how most people I know but drugs.

Lots of people don't of course and I'm not defending the industry as a whole, but it certainly is possible to be an ethical shopper

nobodysdaughter · 26/01/2021 14:13

You name it I've taken it. There's probably some designer/newer drugs I haven't tried though, because I've lived properly for the last eight years or so.
It took completely losing my mind for several years to finally get straight, and now I have a wonderful partner, brilliant kid, and just started my absolute dream job before lockdown. None of which would've been possible if I was still hard at it on drugs.

whoamongstus · 26/01/2021 17:25

@IamTomHanks

Plenty of weed & hash. Can't wait to go home to Canada in the summer and buy a great big brownie. Grin

An ecstasy pill once, but I have ADHD so that wasn't as fun as it should have been. Never had a desire to do Coke or anything Hallucinogenic.

Funnily enough that's how my OH ended up getting his adult ADHD diagnosis. He'd had it as a kid, but whenever he took coke with his friends they all could feel it and he was just like 'It feels like when I used to take my Ritalin, I just feel... not spacey?'. And then realised the ADHD symptoms were still there, he'd just been masking them better!

Until your friend gets done.

BarryTheKestrel · 26/01/2021 17:37

I have smoked cannabis on occasion and still would now if I wasn't going to be around the children(very rarely this happens, 3 times in the past 5 years) . A friend grows his own for his own use and I only ever smoke his weed because I know what it is and how strong it is.

As not so DF went to prison for dealing when I was younger and is also an addict I've never touched anything harder and don't like to be around friends using either.

unmarkedbythat · 26/01/2021 17:58

I am always struck by respondents on these threads who say drugs? No, never not me, alcohol is enough. Alcohol is a drug, it's incredibly harmful, the only difference is that it's legal. Prohibition does not work and causes more harm than legalising and regulating.

Cyderdelic · 26/01/2021 18:44

Yes, pretty much everything solidly for over a decade in the 90s, think the only thing I didn't take at least once was crack due to seeing how badly it messed friends up. Was massively into the free party squat and festival scene and would absolutely do it all again if I had the opportunity to rewind 30 years.
Not even smoked a spliff now for many years since having DC and quit drinking last year. Would definitely be into having some hugh quality mdma now, but only if by some miracle I had a child free weekend.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 26/01/2021 19:00

Last time I had a something was at a friend's 50th birthday party 7 years ago. A nice little roll up with some home-grown grass.

I know a few people in their 50s who still do coke at the weekends. But they are slightly tragic.

Baker0104 · 26/01/2021 20:15

I did MDMA and cocaine when I was younger and had some amazing nights and festivals.
That was another life and I wouldn't do it again, too much to loose now if something went wrong. I don't regret it though

I know where I am with alcohol. How much I can tolerate , what it is.

I don't have this knowledge with a tablet.

Chipsandchesses · 26/01/2021 20:26

I smoked weed at 13 onwards. Took e and speed from 16 - 21 - early 20s dabbled in mushrooms. Acid once. MDMA. Meow meow (when that was a thing) ketamine. Then Cocaine in my mid 20s. Mid 30s now. Shared half a splif with a mate last year. Barely even drink. Now I crochet.

Newnamefor2021 · 26/01/2021 20:29

Nope, never. I fancy having a special brownie sometime but mostly because I love brownies.I don't drink alcohol either! I am pretty addicted to chocolate though and that's probably worse overall.

DinnaeFashSassenach · 26/01/2021 20:46

My husband has never tried anything at all and doesn't drink but he, at 41, does want to try weed now, bless him.
I've no idea where I would even get some now.

FunkBus · 27/01/2021 00:37

"I know where I am with alcohol. How much I can tolerate , what it is.

It's usually pretty obvious when you're in the midst of other people taking stuff. You know what batches are about and if it's good or not.

Ducksarenotmyfriends · 27/01/2021 08:00

@Chipsandchesses I forgot about meow meow! I crochet too now. Maybe that's what all ex drug users do?? We're such a menace to society Grin

MrsSmith2021 · 27/01/2021 08:01

No. I don’t like how alcohol / weed makes me feel (tried it a few times) so anything harder has never been in my radar.

Vinosaurus · 27/01/2021 08:18

Used to do acid, speed, coke, MDMA and weed. Stopped at 29. Am now 42. Have to admit, I had some amazing times.

Started having mental health issues at 30, although probably had them for a lot longer but were masked by my prolific drug use.

At least with alcohol you can be sure it’s not cut with anything. No one ever died from a bad batch of wine.

Loads of people die each year from alcohol, no not a bad batch but over drinking, death by stupidity after drinking too much, death by drinking and driving and liver/kidney damage. You don’t hear many people dying from smoking a joint 🤔
Frenchdressing · 27/01/2021 08:56

No one ever died from a bad batch of wine......

Maybe not but I feel like I have come close! Smile

prawntoastie · 27/01/2021 08:59

Weed - made me lazy
Molly - was a happy feeling like bsif drunk but I couldn't sober up with food
Coke - hate it... Make you sociable but you cannot stop your heart beating
Estasy - same as molly

That's it, don't smoke or take drugs, I just like alcohol. I cannot stand not being control of my body
