Posting here for traffic.

Ours has finally given up the ghost having survived ten years, a house move and cleaning up the detritus after a full replaster (which was the death knell for it really).

Have a mid sized three bedroom terraced house so not a shoebox but not exactly a big house. Mostly laminate flooring, with tiles in the kitchen and bathroom, a few rugs and stairs carpet.

I have tried multiple online quizzes and am honestly still none the wiser.

Budget isn't huge around £150-£200. Could maybe stretch to £250 but that would be pushing it (I'm on nmw and dp was made redundant in December so a bit skint but still need a half decent vacuum and there is a bit in the savings pot for such things)

Well I bought a decent hoover for the first time in my life a few months ago. It's a Miele and it's incredible. I can't believe how I was washing my time with all my shit hoovers before. (I did used to get very cheap ones)

It's at the top end of your budget and you might be able to get it in a sale etc. Failing that that people say sharks are very good as well.

Weebitawks · 25/01/2021 17:33

*wasting my time

RumJerrySailorRum · 25/01/2021 17:37

I have a shark, it's shit. I miss my g tech.

If I had an easy access store cupboard, I'd go back to a corded vac.

My mum swears by her miele.

BillywigSting · 25/01/2021 17:40

I have a small under stairs cupboard where our current (cylinder) vacuum lives. The hose gets on my nerves but I also don't want to be lugging a big heavy upright up the stairs when that's the only carpeted area of the house.

I have a Miele too, in fact I've had a couple. A cylinder vac and an upright. Both fab.

Another good one I've had access to was a Sebo upright. Great for allergies and good all round hoover.

Negnog · 25/01/2021 17:41

Miele definitely, they have a factory shop in Abingdon, Oxfordshire if you’re on a budget. You might be able to purchase from there online.

wigornian · 25/01/2021 17:42

Henry!

BillywigSting · 25/01/2021 17:47

I am absolutely not getting a Henry having wrestled with the little bastard in the past, far too bloody heavy and bulky. Very overrated.

OP posts:
RumJerrySailorRum · 25/01/2021 17:48

Oh yeah, sebo are good too.

My mum has one of those too (huge 4 bed house, dog and 4 kids) which is her upstairs vac.

I help my DH clean sometimes, the place he does has a Henry, absolute rubbish and also a due on which is also rubbish.

RumJerrySailorRum · 25/01/2021 17:48

Due on = Dyson

Thatwentbadly · 25/01/2021 17:49

Buy an eufy c30 (about £160) and small handheld hoover for the stairs.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 25/01/2021 17:50

Billy I also bought one for my elderly parents as they couldn't manage anything big, carrying it on their stannah Grin

XingMing · 25/01/2021 17:50

Miele again, as we have a dog that sheds. It's expensive, but mine is getting on for 12 years old.

wlv12 · 25/01/2021 17:50

I love my shark lift away pet.

Paddingtonthebear · 25/01/2021 17:50

Having had an extremely unsatisfactory experience with Sebo’s customer service team today I would not recommend.

Mrsmadevans · 25/01/2021 17:52

Miele cat and dog, it is wonderful

BillywigSting · 25/01/2021 17:52

That £250 upper limit really is the very upper limit. I certainly can't afford £300

IMissFrance · 25/01/2021 17:55

Shark lift away duo. Pet version.

Mine is over 2 years old now and I still can't get over how good it is. (Had a Dyson pet before)

I do have a Hetty I can't part with as that thing can vacuum up rocks and survive. So she comes out when the car or garage or need a Hoover.

FlumpetCrumpet · 25/01/2021 17:57

I bought a shark after seeing people raving about them online and I hate it, I might as well suck up the dirt myself with a straw, it’s rubbish.

Fair play to Sharks marketing department, they have done a very good job of using influencers to pull off a modern day emperors new clothes (see also Charlotte Tilbury). It’ll be a Miele for us next time I think or back to dyson.

Emeraldshamrock · 25/01/2021 17:59

Miele C5 though I believe shark is better but more expensive again might be promotional.
My miele is brilliant.

Chunkymenrock · 25/01/2021 18:00

Came on to say Miele too!

Sexnotgender · 25/01/2021 18:00

Check out refurbished dysons on their eBay shop.

I’m impressed with my shark lift away, I paid £150 on amazon on Black Friday. Shark cordless are rubbish apparently.

Emeraldshamrock · 25/01/2021 18:05

Miele c3 is around £170. Mine is 5 years old now still perfect DP works in electrical sales he thinks the mini C1 is just as good it is easier to carry.
I love the different settings for furniture etc.

biddybid73 · 25/01/2021 18:06

Henry.

We just bought one to replace our Dyson which hasn't worked properly for a year
