How do you spend your lockdown weekends?

I’m working from home during the week so when it comes to the weekend it feels a bit same old just without work! What’s everyone doing on their weekends at the moment to mix it up as best you can?

I go for a walk with a friend each weekend. We make one night a family games night so we disconnect all devices and play an old school board game or two.

Most of our weekends are spent planning or doing some DIY.

ShoesJerry · 23/01/2021 11:18

We're blitzing chores on Friday to make sure weekends are free for any such fun that is still allowed! We try to do more interesting dog walks, watch films, play board games, make interesting meals and stay off screens as much as we can to have a rest from work/school online all week.

InsideNumberNine · 23/01/2021 11:18

Four year old DS. One of us gets up with him (we alternate lie ins, usually getting up around 10.30am). Kick around tidying and playing til lunch then always a massive walk out somewhere (yes, we sometimes drive to walk). Aim to be out for at least four hours which isn’t hard with a small child who likes to inspect every leaf and stone. Home, dinner, bath, bed then nice food and a film for the adults.

Tellmetruth4 · 23/01/2021 11:21

Clean the house, go for walks, kids park, cook, bake, use fire pit in garden, watch movies, spend loads of time on devices!

Hampotsandonions · 23/01/2021 11:22

I wake up thinking "great, it's the weekend" and then I realise it's going to be another two days exactly the same , except DH will spend Saturday afternoon having a nap.

FoxInSocks2 · 23/01/2021 11:23

Generally going for walks, doing chores, recently DIY and baking/cooking. Sometimes we'll pick a film to watch together.

gasgig · 23/01/2021 11:25

I'm working out of home but Friday is day off. Try to do the washing & tidy. We generally have a breakfast/brunch delivered or if not will have a takeaway one evening.
Go to park on both days, bored as fuck of green spaces but what can you do. Maybe a zoom exercise class, family board game.

gasgig · 23/01/2021 11:25

oh & a film

Purplethrow · 23/01/2021 11:41

I’ve been furloughed since November, I have no idea what bloody day of the week it even is Grin .
When I was working, there was always a running list in my head of jobs around the house that I didn’t have time to do. Now I have all the time in the world, I can’t think of any !

Beaniecats · 23/01/2021 11:44

Still in bed
Point of getting up is?

LindaEllen · 23/01/2021 11:46

I try and get up to date with the housework on a Saturday, so everything washed, dried and put away, hoovering, cleaning etc. Sometimes do some shopping or have a bit of a walk. Sundays are for doing nothing other than what we want to do. Films, snacks, games, whatever. I refuse to feel guilty for doing what I want in these times!

TheRealLadyWhistledown · 23/01/2021 11:52

I am just loving no crazy work/homeschool combo at the weekends. That Saturday morning feeling is just bliss.

One of my kids has a zoom music lesson for 1.5 hours on a Saturday then we generally just chill watching films or tidying up. Always a takeaway on Saturday night and tv together. If the weather is ok we go for a walk. On a Sunday my husband is at home so we always go a walk on a Sunday.

I’m conscious we should be making more of an effort at weekends to do things together be it games or cooking or whatever but I’m exhausted at the weekends and just want to weld myself to the sofa!

SebastianTheCrab · 23/01/2021 11:54

Eating

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/01/2021 11:56

I work out of the home Monday to Friday and DS is in school so it's nice to chill out at home at the weekends. Too much screen time features! We go out with the dog too as we have a dog walker in the week. I do a food shop. Housework.

CharlieD284 · 23/01/2021 12:35

Up early, breakfast, long dog walk in the country, home for a hot lunch, put the fire on and sit on couch to watch some good TV, afternoon freshly ground coffee and cake (always the highlight), proper home cooked dinner having given up on takeaways then maybe a drink and a movie on or boxset.

Absolutely love our weekends now. We moved from the city to suburbs at the end of the first lockdown so completely embracing the quiet life. Other than the occasional brunch out or traveling further afield for a dog walk, I don't think we'll change much when restrictions are lifted.

Lyricallie · 23/01/2021 12:39

We're currently doing a lot of DIY as we just moved in to our house a few months ago. So currently don't have a sofa or anything to chill out on. However usually a bit of DIY, tidying up, maybe watch a film or go to our bubble buddy's to sit in his living room as he actually has furniture when our construction site house gets too much for us.

Poledra · 23/01/2021 12:41

Today I have chopped wood for the fire, made bread (well, it's proving) and done laundry. I may have spent some time in my head as Pioneer Woman Grin

BasinHaircut · 23/01/2021 12:59

Saturdays DS spends the entire day on his games console playing with friends online or watching YouTube. The whole day. Us adults do housework, exercise, DIY, any errands. Dinner is freezer food.

Sunday morning I go for a walk with a friend and DH and DS do a walk together. We reconvene at home for lunch and then watch a movie all together with sweets and popcorn and whatever, followed by games.

DS is 7 and in bed by 7-8 and it’s the time after that, that I struggle with at the moment. I am at a loss at what we are supposed to do then and end up looking at my phone for an hour or so and then going to bed.

CoRhona · 23/01/2021 12:59

I've just cleaned out a cupboard a life filled with excitement Grin

NotMeekNotObedient · 23/01/2021 13:08

I desperately need ideas. Working from home and the weekends feel so wasted. Fed up of the same old walks. Usually have a lie in, nice breakfast, watch 'Love it or List it' with a coffee. Put washing on, tidy up, proper cleaning if I can be bothered. Maybe a nice bath. Walk if the weather isn't bad. Read a book. Tell myself I'll do some yoga tomorrow (never happens).

Sounds blissful and chilled but it's the same every weekend now.

Other than that weekends generally seem to be cook/eat breakfast/screen, cook/eat lunch/screen, cook/eat dinner/screen/bed.

Reiningitin · 23/01/2021 13:15

I've given myself a pedicure and ordered a new doormat.

EileenGC · 23/01/2021 13:18

Friday and Saturday night are the most interesting days at work for me so that helps. Hasn't changed with the pandemic, except that there are no post-performance drinks now Sad
Other than that, I tend to have a nap on Saturday if I can, and block several hours out on Sunday for doing chores like ironing or cleaning the oven whilst I'm watching a film or listening to a good podcast. Failing that, binge watching Netflix. Not too exciting really.

thepeopleversuswork · 23/01/2021 13:27

It’s very Groundhog Day.

That said if there’s an upside it’s that I tend to get more done at home because I am not visiting/doing things. I would be lying if I said I preferred it though.

JovialNickname · 23/01/2021 13:29

Much as I spend the rest of the week... sitting on my arse and watching telly!

GothamGirl1970 · 23/01/2021 13:31

Walk, Netflix, grocery and
