How do you spend your lockdown weekends?

I’m working from home during the week so when it comes to the weekend it feels a bit same old just without work! What’s everyone doing on their weekends at the moment to mix it up as best you can?

Lie in, bacon sandwiches in bed. Exercise DVD. I usually have a long bath while DP watches sport, always do pedicure/manicure on a Saturday night. We tend to have more elaborate or treaty dinners. TV/Netflix.Don’t usually go for a walk as places are so busy since there’s nothing else to do!

gasgig · 23/01/2021 13:44

Is it bad that I think I would enjoy lockdown a lot pmore if I didn't have kids or they were older?

TheSpottedDog · 23/01/2021 13:44

A long dog walk which takes us up to about 9am and then ... not a lot 😂 I’m in the bath now as I was cold. So I’m analysing now fat my belly is at the minute ... it pokes out of the water like an iceberg... it really is quite fascinating

Scarby9 · 23/01/2021 13:48

WhatsApp coffee with three friends on a Saturday morning.

Leisurely bath Sunday morning.

Watch church service on line.

Socially distanced walk with another friend on a Sunday afternoon.

Joint Skype call with my parents, brother and SIL Sat and Sun.

Have main meal at lunchtime instead of the evening.

That's it. I do do work each day too, but those fixed 'treats' mark these days out as the weekend.

Notthis2 · 23/01/2021 13:49

Haha @gasgig, 3 ds here, I do not relate to all this chilling, napping and Netflix...

Bitbusyattheminute · 23/01/2021 13:50

Work/ catch
Kids on xbox.
Make kids go for a walk.
Go for my long run- or did, before I caught fucking covid.
Board game.
Netflix.

This is the 2nd weekend I've been on phone all morning, watched telly and am back on my phone.

EmmaStone · 23/01/2021 13:50

Lie in, various chores around the house (I've marvelled at how DH manages to find stuff to do around the house), there always seems to be another meal around the corner that needs prepping. Walking, other exercise, washing, spending too much time staring at screens.

Today I realised that in summer 2023, my children will have just finished their A Levels and GCSEs, and DH and I will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. So today I suggested we all start coming up with ideas for an amazing family holiday to celebrate. Gives us plenty of time to plan and save up, and seems likely to actually happen (unlike our other travel plans for the last year and this year).

Saturday nights are family game nights, and Sunday evenings are film nights (except we're watching Merlin).

shouldistop · 23/01/2021 13:53

Well I'm on maternity leave, have a newborn and 4yo. Nurseries are closed here so the weekend is basically the same as during the week except easier as my dh is off work.
So; play park, walks, playing garden, ds1 'helping' dh with some jobs or me with the housework, dh & ds1 sometimes go hill walking.

gasgig · 23/01/2021 13:53

Haha @gasgig, 3 ds here, I do not relate to all this chilling, napping and Netflix...

My siblings are younger & still childfree. 1 now has a 6-pack, 1 has done all the DIY jobs & house looks immaculate, 1 has thrown themselves into baking & crafts.
I'm now fat, my house is a tip & any spare money goes to Deliveroo 😆

DarlingCoffee · 23/01/2021 13:55

I have a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc chilling in the fridge and am going to treat myself to a rented movie. Anyone seen Tenet? This is the extent of my plans for Saturday. I like to cook a roast on Sunday to make things feel a bit more normal but other than that we are fresh out of exciting ideas.

gasgig · 23/01/2021 13:56

Watched it last week, I was very confused but enjoyable

gasgig · 23/01/2021 13:57

Preferred Bridgerton

Notthis2 · 23/01/2021 13:58

@gasgig, I've lost weight but that's because my dcs need to be brought out 5 times a day for exercise or they climb the walls, on the other hand I look around 150.....
Sure napping and Netflix must get boring but sounds pretty amazing from here Grin

We have a lie in followed by breakfast in bed. Then we go for a walk for about an hour/hour and a half. Come back, have lunch. Potter about/watch TV or watch a film together. Then have dinner and share a bottle of wine. Watch another film. Go to bed and read our kindles for a couple of hours.

It felt quite relaxing for the first few weekends but it feels like it's getting old now. 😂

We try to make the dinners more interesting by having themed nights or trying new things. Husband is making a Greek meal this evening.

MrsBennettsSecretSon · 23/01/2021 14:01

2-3 hour dog walk (poor dog Grin) then a fried breakfast for lunch, then clean a bit, then relax (screens)

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 23/01/2021 14:04

Netflix, jigsaws. Walking occasionally.

gasgig · 23/01/2021 14:05

@Notthis2 lucky you, I've managed to offset the extra exercise with junk food. Oh to lie in all day 😭

MrsGradyOldLady · 23/01/2021 14:08

I wasn't doing much of anything except moaning really. So I realised I needed a hobby and this morning I've started clearing out the cellar so that I can turn it into a cellar bar. I'm actually really looking forward to working on it. I think the actual bars will probably be open before mine though if I'm honest.

Nochristmasbreak · 23/01/2021 14:10

Video chat a friend, sit on devices, listen to music, play games like monopoly, cook, order takeaway, have a few drinks with DH, have sex.

Usual stuff really without all the commitments, I love it!

Purplethrow · 23/01/2021 14:14

I have just rearranged my kitchen cupboards, how is it possible to have 6 tops for Tupperware containers but no bottoms?
I found a couple of small cameras that could possibly make an appearance on the Antiques Roadshow , 4 trillion plastic bags that I have folded into that triangle-loop-the-handles-over-to-secure shape and 3 boxes of hair bleach.

MissMarpleDarling · 23/01/2021 14:16

Netflix and eating. I have 4 parcels sat in my hall waiting to be sent back that ove had for ages so I'm going to the post office today. Proper day out.

EileenGC · 23/01/2021 14:19

@Purplethrow I'll take some of those container top lids Grin
Somehow I manage to lose them and have more containers than tops - which is no good when I only use them for the fridge and freezer. I suspect it's the dog's fault as sometimes she is given one as a water dish when she manages to lose/destroy one of hers...

LiJo2015 · 23/01/2021 14:22

Im a SAHM with a 5 month old and 11 year old. So apart from school work during the week, my weekends are the same as weekdays.
