US erasing Women - Janice Turner

It was totally shocking to me this week as a supporter of the Democrats to see Biden choosing his moment carefully on day one to wipe out women's and girl's rights in the states in one fail swoop. There was no discussion, no consultation. No warning. Just like that he removed centuries of our rights as women.

He will now go down in history as the first President that abolished womenhood and Motherhood and women's rights. I am astonished and horrified and reeling actually, even this morning. I have had a few days to process the shock, but no, I am still reeling.

It is now punishable to describe a woman as a mother for instance, or to stop a man/boy with a penis showering with your pre teen daughter at school.
Prisons can no longer keep women safe, they will now lock up male rapists (Identifying as women, which anyone can now do no questions asked) with trapped female prisoners in cells. Can you imagine being in that position? The horror of being trapped in that situation, as survivor this actually keeps me awake at night.

Men can use lavatories, locker rooms and showers with young girls. It is ILLEGAL to now stop them. It is also illegal to stop a man competing in women's sports, making women's and girls sports now obsolete. What girl is going to outrun a biological male?

We have literally, as a sex been erased completely from the legal framework and with it all of our protections thanks to Biden. Men can still be men, because that doesn't offend anyone apparently - they will not be called 'testicle havers' or 'ejaculators' it will only be women subjected to this. So that says a lot of modern equality and where we are with it today in the US.

Women have been reduced to 'Menstruators' and the highly offensive 'black birthing bodies' if you are describing a mother from the BAME community. That is what we must all be called now.

That is the new healing landscape Biden describes as he cuts out the rights of half the nation.

Janice Turner as always is an absolute legend, and her excellent article 'War of words risks wiping women from our Language' in the Times this morning is outstanding, and covers the grave situation we ALL now face. For anyone thinking it could never happen here, think again.

Repeat after me- Supporting trans rights does not equal erasing women. Until you understand.

No. 🖕🏻

Jetatyeovilaerodrome · 24/01/2021 18:39

We're not going to be told we are not being erased at the same time as you telling us you don't know who or what we are.

This.

ListeningQuietly · 24/01/2021 18:41

Repeat after me- Supporting trans rights does not equal erasing women. Until you understand
Um no
Repeat after me
Supporting women does not equal erasing trans rights
Until you understand
Same words, better order

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 24/01/2021 19:08

Because I’m not a piece of shit.

Course you're not. It's the rest of us striving to protect our sex-based rights that are 'pieces of shit'. You're right. We should all get a grip and be a little kinder. There's a small number of male people who are uncomfortable with their 'gender identity': 51% of the population should certainly roll over to accommodate them.

I have worked with 3 trans women, gave a close friend who is gender fluid, and a grandchild who is non binary.

Big wow. We're all fucking 'gender fluid' and 'non-binary at the end of the day. Gender is merely a social construct, a set of instructions to help me 'woman' properly. Well, you can stick your 'gender fluidity' up your uptight arse. Sideways. The only two things that make me a woman are (a) having been born female and (b) having reached adulthood. My looks, behaviour and any ridiculous label I choose to give myself are all completely irrelevant.

BrumBoo · 24/01/2021 19:25

I understand people suffer gender dysphoria, even if gender as a concept is not something I agree with. I do not get 'non binary' though. What is the actual definition of non-binary? You don't fit in the box of society's expectations of male or female'? Yes, that is literally every fucking person ever at some point.

Those who declare themselves Non-binary are what would have been the Emo kids of my day. Thinking they've discovered a special unique way of addressing themselves, and viewing the world. Most of them will look back on themselves in 20 years time and think 'wtf was I like', as we all do.

Jetatyeovilaerodrome · 24/01/2021 23:01

I see that @katrina11 didn't come back to respond further then? Same old, same old Grin

MinecraftMother · 24/01/2021 23:06

If everyone is so confused about what women are now (never fucking men, everyone always knows what a man is) then why aren't TW being asked to be surrogates?

Stop the world.
I want to get off.

Why do the people on the feminist board use the word 'woke' as an insult? It means 'alert to social injustice', which surely includes feminism. The word 'woke' has been co-opted by the right wing and now used as an insult. I'm genuinely baffled why feminists are going along with it.

AKissAndASmile · 24/01/2021 23:15

The same way Priti Patel said 'do-gooding lawyers' as an insult.

SqueakyCarrots · 24/01/2021 23:25

Because people identify as woke as a way of virtue signaling. It’s all surface and no thought to substance. Like social justice warriors, it’s all about how it validates their identity and meets their needs, not ever about the people they are supposedly fighting for.

Circumlocutious · 24/01/2021 23:36

I’m relatively new to this topic but find katrina’s posts very disheartening. They starts off so seemingly enlightened - focus on women in the workplace, the pay gap! etc - but then when you probe further there’s the rotten core (‘you’re a woman if you identify as one’). And exploiting our usage of an anonymous Internet forum as a way of justifying this conclusion...

Virtue: moral or high standards. 'virtue signalling' is another phrase successfully co-opted by the right. What is so wrong in signalling, ie conveying, that you have virtue?

Why do you need to? Why can't you just live a decent, thoughtful life without making sure everyone knows you're doing it and in addition doing it a way that signals to a certain kind of other person. SJW will deny deny deny that they purposely display their actions and Correct Opinions though. It's like a cult - exhibiting certain phrases and actions, which signal to others that you're in the tribe and do Right Think.

endofthelinefinally · 24/01/2021 23:52

Because it is usually manipulative and insincere. I just see it as attention seeking.
I know a lot of people who do an awful lot for society, for people less fortunate. They never shout about it in a way to draw attention to themselves.

And do one with your attempting to shame and silence with your accusations of Right Wing Behaviour. I reject them and all sensible people need to as well. I simply won't accept any warranted criticism of identity politics and the damaging, creeping Social Justice movement being framed as Right Wing any longer.
MiladyBerserko · 24/01/2021 23:55

Because the wokesters are usually a combination / total of misogynist, up their own arse, hypocritical, pervy, cowards who make my skin crawl and I want to completely distance myself from them?

AKissAndASmile · 24/01/2021 23:58

I'm questioning the language

MiladyBerserko · 24/01/2021 23:59

Or I could sum them all up as general cunts, does that help?

AKissAndASmile · 25/01/2021 00:01

You sound angry. Such a shame

HmmSureJan · 25/01/2021 00:02

@AKissAndASmile

Why is Social Justice Warrior used as an insult?
Because it is a damaging, disgusting movement, mainly upheld by stupid and immature people who think it elevates them above other, lesser types who aren't as "awake" as they are. It cancels and shames for "wrong think" and doesn't allow anyone to be rehabilitated if they step out of line eg use what SJW have determined is the wrong language five years ago on Twitter! And as we have seen here frames any perfectly reasonable dissent or challenge as Right Wing or Facism in order to stop discussion cold.
MiladyBerserko · 25/01/2021 00:02

Although to be fair, actual cunts are warm, soft and deep, apologies for my misuse of the word for arseholes
