Stunning, smart, clever, talented, poised and now famous...all at 22!

Not sure I have a favourite line as I was mesmerised by it all and her little gestures - my face was close to the computer screen watching and soaking in her poem/spoken word and beauty - the face, the yellow coat, the hair. Beauty!

You can adore who you want. Smile

I had to Google her as I haven't heard of her and didn't watch the inauguration of new US President. I see she was the first national youth poet laureate. That's quite an achievement and, yes, she is stunning too.

Snufkins · 21/01/2021 15:42

I think she went on a bit, I got bored watching her.

Toilenstripes · 21/01/2021 15:45

She was outstanding. So composed and truly a gifted poet. I hope we see a lot more of her.

StarAmandaGorman · 21/01/2021 15:50

Read about her on wiki and she's even more amazing than I thought!

Seriously? It was one poem. A stunningly powerful one at that!
peak2021 · 21/01/2021 16:17

I love the recognition of poetry as part of the inauguration. Whomever read it.

Hardbackwriter · 21/01/2021 16:23

It was an amazing performance, wasn't it - beautifully written, powerful and flawlessly delivered.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 21/01/2021 17:19

It's quite amazing that two of the longest speeches of the inauguration yesterday were delivered by people who have overcome speech impediments - Amanda Gorman and Joe Biden.

Lampzade · 21/01/2021 17:22

Beautiful, intelligent and talented young woman

icebearforpresident · 21/01/2021 17:39

I’m not a fan of poetry (still traumatised from higher English) and had never heard of her before yesterday but I’m obsessed with her now, she was so amazing. I’m now stalking her in social media, her Instagram stories from yesterday are fascinating.

Another thing I’m obsessed with from yesterday: Ella Emhoff’s coat & RBG style collar 💕

Really? Come on.
sashagabadon · 21/01/2021 17:57

Yes she was great and I liked her yellow coat a lot

WantChewbaccaForGood · 21/01/2021 17:59

Of course YANBU!

AlexaShutUp · 21/01/2021 18:01

She was inspirational. I didn't realise that she had overcome a speech impediment. Amazing!

SmaugMum · 21/01/2021 18:07

I think Maya Angelou must be smiling up in heaven somewhere following Amanda Gorman’s performance. My 13-year-old and I have had her poem on a loop ever since. What an inspirational role model for young women everywhere, regardless of their backgrounds.

She blew my mind (and I’m from Yorkshire so not easily impressed Wink) with her eloquence and poise, especially considering she had the eyes of the world on her and the weight of history on her shoulders. And only 22!

I agree.

What a beautiful poised young lady.
JLo looked a bit overwhelmed when she got on stage to perform, but not her.
She took it in her grasp so well, her poem was very inspiring.

VillanellesOrangeCoat · 21/01/2021 18:44

She was outstanding, and as a pp said, an exceptional role model. Such talent.

seasideseas · 21/01/2021 18:45

Brilliant.

Chambored · 21/01/2021 18:56

She was fabulous.
I loved everything about her yesterday - her poem, her poise, her confidence, her style and just her. What an inspiration.

Gilead · 21/01/2021 18:57

Thought she was fabulous!

HereBeFuckery · 21/01/2021 19:05

Her writing is so assured. I don't always love poetry, esp modern poetry, but she had such a deft touch, I couldn't stop watching.

TheGlitterFairy · 21/01/2021 19:05

Agreed - so talented and delivered beautifully

Maturestudentneedshelp · 21/01/2021 19:32

Pure class

StarAmandaGorman · 21/01/2021 19:42

Was it just me who saw Biden either trying to get her attention when she was done, perhaps for a handshake or fist bump (as they all seemed to be doing) or to talk to her but she must have gotten the instruction to read and make her way back the same way. She missed his cue, it seemed to me.

I think they were all following the same protocol except Garth Brooks who obviously didn't get the memo. Lol

I suppose Amanda got to meet Biden later.
