@cyclingmad
"Can RTb not respond to me themselves without everyone getting involved...oh wait RTB got involved on a comment I made to another poster asking them another question."

Do you think you anyone should respond to any of your questions when you still haven't got back to my repeated query about evidence of Trump's decency in publicly paying respect to the 400, 000+ dead on his (NOT Biden's) watch?

DuncinToffee · 23/01/2021 17:32

Or my question about their stance on the death penalty

And no telling me to start a new thread for that is not an answer.

cyclingmad · 23/01/2021 17:53

@pointythings

cycling I clarified RTB's point because like all threads, this is a conversation with multiple participants. I don't see why that bothers you.

And it is unreasonable no matter what you say to expect all the harm of the past 4 years to be undone in days. The orders Biden signed mean the process of undoing that harm can begin, but it will take time. Trump's administration has been shown to have completely failed to bring in the kind of government infrastructure needed to deal with COVID - creating that infrastructure isn't going to be done overnight.

Lastly, here you go again. Biden has his mask off for a few minutes = just as bad as Trump and his mates running around maskless and organising superspreader events. Sure.

Ahhhh an excuse for Biden. His order says masks at all times! So you think its okay he takes it off, so you think its okay he doest obey the rules he asks of others? It doesn't matter if its for a few minutes he broke his rule he has set for others.

I'm not talking about Trump, Trump didn't sign an EO stating everyone to wear masks at all times on federal property did he.

So again Biden has signed this EO and next day breaks the very rules he has signed and expects others to do.

Stop making excuses and say well its okay cos Trump was worse. That excuse won't last long.

Then again at least admit your bias, not matter what you will defend Biden. Be honest why don't you.

@DuncinToffee

It is an answer, just not one you like oh well didums. My personal view isn't the point of the thread so you want to make it about me go start s thread.

Did I ask anyone for their personal view on this point? Nope I did not because kts not relevant.

cyclingmad · 23/01/2021 17:59

@Roussette

Good, then you should agree thay in future posts people shouldn't use twitter as a source of news then in any posts going forward

That is what you said.
That is what we'll not be taking any notice of.

Did I say that as a comment on its own or in response to someone?

Oh thats right I was responding to someone's post and asking them....

So what's your point? Were you the posts I was asking? No

pointythings · 23/01/2021 17:59

OK, cyclingmad so you don't want to admit on this thread that you are in favour of the death penalty. Why not?

And re your continuing false equivalence - so you think Biden taking his mask off for a few moments to talk to the press = just as bad as Trump not wearing one on many prolonged occasions. So answer me the question I asked you before (you won't):

Do you think shoplifting and murder are equivalent crimes which should be punished exactly the same? Because that is basically what you're implying.

Lastly, I won't defend Biden no matter what. No-one here will, no-one here thinks he's perfect. You just like to set it up that way. However, we do believe that he is better than Trump. Your position - that he is just as bad - is hard to defend in the light of the facts of the past 4 years. Chapeau for trying though.

Roussette · 23/01/2021 18:02

Hahaha no comparison!

And I do agree - Trump didn't introduce a mask mandate because he actively discouraged mask wearing at every opportunity causing unnecessary deaths.

Ah well, I'll just continue assuming that your position is Trump = good, Biden = bad.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 23/01/2021 18:07

If McConnell and GOP Senators can't find their backbones, then apparently there's always the 14th Amendment in Schumer's back pocket.

No your telling me thats what you think I think. Have I asked you what your view is? No I haven't so why do you think you need to know what mine is then? Because you think you need to know this in order for me to discuss the death penalty in America.

So go ahead label me as a supporter of the death penalty - MAKINF SHIT UP ABOUT ME ...👏 👏 👏 congrats bet you felt real good spreading misinformation about a person. HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT I SUPPORT? So why do you think its okay to make a statement saying I do?

When did I say Biden not wearing a mask on federal property post EO was as bad as Trump? When did I make that equivalence? Show me?

Oh thats right I didn't. I posted a comment how Biden isn't following his own rules. I never compared it to Trump. You did that.

cycling people on this thread have been open and transparent about their positions. You haven't. Expect not to be taken seriously as a consequence.

You persistently refuse to engage with the issues and limit yourself to sneers and insinuations. Again, expect not to be taken seriously.

I agree with a pp that Biden should have kept his mask on - but you pointing out that he took it off for a few moments smacks of playground politics.

Roussette · 23/01/2021 18:22

On a little bike! Love it! I am sitting on my hands here which is making typing and drinking wine verrrry hard!

pointythings · 23/01/2021 18:24

I missed this from yesterday's news, Trump's impeachment trial is starting on 9th February

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell's office said he was glad Mr Schumer had agreed to his request for more time during the pre-trial phase, and that the trial itself would begin on 9 February.

I am sad about Biden's stance on women
but happy about his stance on Roe v Wade
and optimistic that the Trans issue will be resolved in the courts via a shit tonne of sunlight

I just hope with every cell in my body that the Republican senators realise that for the good of the country
they should support Biden's legislative agenda
even the bits I do not like
as he was democratically elected
by more people than any US President ever before

Okay so when did it become a criteria that you have to be open on your personal views. If some people choose to open up thats their decision. Noone asked them too, I certainly didn't.

I choose not to be used my personal view has nothing to do with being able to participate in a thread.

If you measure being taken seriously on the basis of whether a person says their personal view on the matter then wow. This is a forum of strangers anyone can say anything they like and make it up.

I dont care if you take me seriously or not it doesn't bother me this is just a forum at the end of the day.

As for playground politics lets say Trump did this there would be lots of comments about it and noone would be saying well its okay its just a few minutes. Admit it at least...noone would. You know it and I know it.

Besides when Trump got in everything he did was being picked on.

So let's play fair and do the same for Biden so there is no bias.

Jo Biden AND HIS FAMILY
did not wear masks at an outdoor event

IIRC his comment at the start was In Federal Buildings

Has Biden ever denied the risk of COVID
Has Biden ever suggested injecting poison
Has Biden ever undermined scientists about COVID

Mittens030869 · 23/01/2021 18:45

@pointythings I agree with you. No, Biden shouldn't have taken his mask off. He needs to be giving a strong lead on this issue right now. But it was only for a few minutes and @cyclingmad is being like a childish bully in the playground to be gloating about it.

Here's the thing, though. None of us have said that Biden is perfect. So your sneering comments are pointless and actually make you look rather stupid more than anything else. No one is disagreeing with you after all.

ListeningQuietly · 23/01/2021 18:45

PS My Comment was more about the tone of the Washington Post
which really should know better
