There’s also a really lovely story in usatoday (sorry can’t link from phone) saying that while Biden giving his inauguration speech a uniformed person was kneeling at beau Biden’s graveside. Identity unknown. The reporter there did not approach them out of respect.

He did say something about dating her if she wasn’t his daughter, but he did not say either of the things that the poster above claimed he did, which is the point I was arguing. If he did then find me the exact quote - you don’t be able to, because he didn’t say them.

Finally caught up! What a lovely day yesterday was.

Thank you all. Found the Orange one so vile that I couldn't bear the sound of his creepy voice or watch him on TV so your comments have kept me hopeful this day would come and here it is. Looked at the Mail today to see what its coverage is like. There's a photo of a solitary MAGA gun toting, flag waving Donnie fan outside a NY state building. Looking for the revolution he's been promised. Maybe we all bought into something that wasn't there? I'm hoping that's true and that the millions of supporters are an ephemeral illusion. Good luck America, congratulations on the return of sanity.

Marla Maples moved to California after her divorce and raised Tiffany there, allowing her to have a fairly non trump ish upbringing. Unfortunately Tiffany decided to go full Trump once she was an adult.

To be fair to other posters he has made comments about Ivanka. There is footage out there but I feel grubby if I look for this so won't. But you can google, it's there, I've seen it with my own eyes. He is what I would call inappropriate with her but I suppose with any father/child relationship, she knows what he's like and takes it with a pinch of salt.

I saw it particularly when he put himself up as the Repub candidate, it was all over the internet then.

Anyway, I have seen a few clips of last night's concert but I want to see more! So have to dig and delve on the internet to find it. I need to hear from our American friends what they thought of it but hopefully they will be asleep at the moment and can fill us in about it later when it's morning for them!

So why do the Trump children stick around? Well I'd say a primary motivation is money and having just read the Mary Trump book family loyalty taking priority over moral compass is not a new thing for the Trumps, this has been 'a thing' for generations.

Just watched the first press briefing with Jan Psaki. Oh my golly goodness... i cannot begin to say how calm it was, how informed and sensible Psaki was, how just flippin' normal it was.

She has vowed to hold daily press briefings, omitting weekends, this is how it should be. Trump's Press secretaries stopped them for over a year when they didn't like the questions. They were all so combative and Jan Psaki isn't. She was polite and respectful to the press pack.

Of course today is different, it's not always going to be an easy ride with the q's, but it is a good start.

Biden's Oval Office has a lovely blue carpet. But look at the sofas. Are they the exact same style and print as George Bush? Or are they the exact same sofas?

They could well be the same sofas. He's using Clinton's old rug and curtains!

I imagine he's trying to be thrifty bearing in mind the dire state of the US economy.
Biden is mentally normal so that shouldn't be a surprise.
Unlike the trumps who have spaffed $$$$$$ doing up their PRIVATE apartments in the Whitehouse.
Even our own Queen recognises that spending for the sake of it during an unprecedented global downturn is a bad optic and she's not always the most savvy in that regard

It’s been a bright morning here after a very wild 24 hours. Feels kinda metaphorical. Just been catching up on some of yesterday’s stuff I missed. Was great seeing the former presidents talking together, also thought the Foo Fighters song was perfect, so apt and an amazing performance. The poem was beautiful too but ffs YouTube, I had a Faridge advert come up before it played. That was not welcome.

I think reusing previous presidents furniture is really something of a statement. Especially after the expenses the Trumps racked up.

Those sofas look in perfect condition too. You wouldn't know they are over 11 years old (possibly 20). Nor that the curtains could date back to 1993!

Whether by choice or not, they haven't always stuck around. Donald Trump Jr didn't see his father for a year after his parent's marriage broke up and was sent away to boarding school and spent holidays with his mother's family near Prague.

It's clear that Tiffany hasn't spent much time with him, and even Barron who theoretically lives with him seems to spend much more time with his maternal grandparents.

They are a dysfunctional family, but even a dysfunctional family can be held together by money.

I do hope they restore the rose garden, add the colour back in again.
