Just curious really. Seen a lot of hate for the governments handling of various things but they did recently win by a landslide and I’m not sure if people truly believe the opposition could do better.

So if it was just red or blue and there were a vote today, who would you vote for?

I’d vote Labour.

YABU - Conservative
YANBU - Labour

Labour

I would still expect a Tory majority just not quite the majority they have now

SendHelp30 · 20/01/2021 17:05

I would vote for Boris.

PheasantPlucker1 · 20/01/2021 17:10

Conservative.

I have investigated other options. Sadly none of them seem able to grasp the very basics of sex and biology so not the people we need in charge during a pandemic.
Or ever.

safariboot · 20/01/2021 17:11

Labour. But I'm a "never Tory" voter so that doesn't say much.

If we were considering all political parties and a plausible time between announcement and election, I would listen to what the Lib Dems and the Greens said and make up my mind. Labour have historically been more authoritarian and in favour of state involement than I like.

DaphneBridgerton · 20/01/2021 17:12

@UrAWizHarry

You're not taking into account things like personal financial implications... for example the perception that if Labour got back into power they would start taxing higher earners, second home owners, large inheritances etc. That has a huge impact on the way people vote.

So yes, in reality I could believe that someone else could "do a better job" but also want to look after my own interests, and that of my family... you can't tell me it surprises you that people would do this?

JuneFromBethesda · 20/01/2021 17:13

@AnneLovesGilbert

Labour. And I’ve never voted Labour in my life.
Ditto. (Never voted Tory either mind you - and I never, ever will)
safariboot · 20/01/2021 17:14

PS: Conservative Party policies put a close family member in hospital and put me through great stress, brief homelessness, and I'm still paying off the resulting debts. So yeah ... fuck the Tories.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 20/01/2021 17:14

Plaid Cymru.

glitterfarts · 20/01/2021 17:14

Former green voter. I will vote for whichever party declares women are females and don't have a y chromosome.

Who say crime committed by males is recorded as male crime, no matter how that male dresses or feels about makeup.

Who protect children from being given irreversible drugs or surgery when children.

Who uphold women's rights for women. Not for men no matter how they feel or identify.

As a PP said
Labour don't care about women and are fully paid up members of the trans rights bandwagon, which means removal of same sex spaces. Greens refer to women as "non-men"

Live Dems same.

flashbac · 20/01/2021 17:16

Can't believe people would still vote for the cons. I mean seriously? Everyday brings more shit done at their bidding. Today brings news that MPs will no longer have a say in trade deals, meaning lower food standards (yeah, chlorinated meat yay!), no assurances on protection of the NHS from private foreign companies and no care whatsoever if the country we do a deal with is partaking in actual genocide.
To top off today's news we have a bail out for the fishing industry because of bloody brexit (project fear!) and news that the government are scrutinising worker's rights after saying a few days ago that this was not on the cards.
Labour are shite but Tories are on a whole other level...
Voting Tory is madness unless of course you approve of lying, you don't use the NHS, are not a taxpayer, don't give a shit about healthy food, don't work, approve of dictatorial government and don't give a damn about murderous regimes of course.

They really are a corrupt shitshow.

Stellaris22 · 20/01/2021 17:19

I'm not surprised people will still vote Conservative. Wanting to let children go hungry is fine according to some people. After you reason with yourself that that's ok nothing will sway you.

HOkieCOkie · 20/01/2021 17:19

Conservative.

Popcornriver · 20/01/2021 17:20

Labour. And I haven't voted for them before. I don't understand how people insist voting Conservative is a vote for a better run country. Look at the current mess. They've done a great job of the pandemic haven't they? Confused

Idiotic decision to open schools for one day before a national lockdown, treat NHS workers/teachers like shit throughout, 10PM curfew for pubs, track and trace disaster, reaction to the Dom Cummings rule break, unclear rules, reacts only when forced to while ignoring scientific advice, refused to implement measures when cases started shooting up to keep the economy going apparently but closes the highstreet for many in the run up to Christmas! And to top it off we have the highest death rate. Fucking bravo!

I'm sure it was difficult for any government but the decisions ours has made throughout means I'll never vote for them. And while he doesn't seem too popular on here I think Kier would make a more competent leader than Boris.

HOkieCOkie · 20/01/2021 17:20

I don’t why ppl ask these questions. No ine is actually interested. You just want to start a Tory voter bashing thread.

Cheesecakeandwine · 20/01/2021 17:27

Conservative

Tianatiers · 20/01/2021 17:29

100% Labour, I do not think anyone could mess this all up as much as the current government have tbh

NoseinBook3 · 20/01/2021 17:31

@PomBearWithoutHerOFRS

If it was today, then I think for the first time since I was old enough to vote, I wouldn't bother. I genuinely think they're all as useless and self serving as each other, with nothing to choose to vote for. I truly wouldn't care which lot got in, things would still be shit.
This is how I feel. I would vote Labour grudgingly however. I don’t like Starmer particularly
SeaWitchly · 20/01/2021 17:32

Labour, same as I voted last time.
Never Tory.

Biker47 · 20/01/2021 17:32

Would rather shit in my hands and clap than ever vote Labour. But after this shower's behaviour during the pandemic, I can't vote Conservative again, would spoil my ballot paper.

Live in a safe labour seat where a turnip wearing a red rosette would get voted into power.

Suzi888 · 20/01/2021 17:34

Labour.

Local councillor is a Tory and a complete ass hat. Runs his own local fb group and he is shady as hell. A local woman was assaulted and she asked for help recognising the individual. He deleted the posts and blocked all users who responded. Not a nice man.

Oh I am, I just still cannot see how anyone can justify ticking that box next to the conservatives regardless of how you spin it. They've proven they can't be trusted to run a bath let alone the country. Things like a couple of pence on the higher rate of tax are nothing compared to that.

WildWaterSwimmer · 20/01/2021 17:35

Labour.

I wasn't sure about Keir to begin with but am really impressed with him now. He roundly trounces Boris in PMQs and exposes him to be an even bigger blithering idiot than most people knew him to be.

lazylump72 · 20/01/2021 17:38

Conservative

Clusterfckintolerant · 20/01/2021 17:38

The country is on fire but the opposition is non-existent. Wouldn't vote.

frumpety · 20/01/2021 17:43

I live in a super safe Conservative seat, so it would have to be either Libdem or Green. The Conservative MP isn't that bad from a local perspective, he anwers correspondence and has been very helpful with things at a local level, unfortunately I disagree with most of his voting record in Parliament. If he stands again, I can see him easily winning.
