Can I fly to Spain

IndieRo · 20/01/2021 11:34

I will probably get slaughtered for even asking but here we go. I live in Ireland and own a home in Spain. During last lockdown, March to July 2020 we stayed at home in Ireland as we were not sure of the situation. Our schools are meant to be back on the 31st January but I can't see this happening. Its all just so depressing. From what I can see I can fly to Spain and quarantine when I fly back to Ireland. Our house is on its own, private pool etc so would basically just stay in apart from going the supermarket. Is there anybody currently living in Alicante that can advise me more.

That link looks like you can, after 5th January. Sounds amazing, it will be much nicer spending lockdown at your house in a warm sunny place. If it's legal, go for it!

SlothMama · 20/01/2021 13:01

It's not essential, we are in a bloody pandemic. Suck it up and stay at home like the rest of us, don't go and put strain on another countries healthcare system.

FFS. Seriously? We’re in the middle of a fucking pandemic.

Oh, and it’s pouring with rain today here in Spain.

smoothchange · 20/01/2021 13:09

@IndieRo

I don't live in the UK, different rules

Follow those rules then?

BadBear · 20/01/2021 13:18

@ acatcalledjohn - just here to say I feel you. My parents live abroad (I'm not from the UK) and my dad is quite fragile so haven't seen them in over a year now. Hang in there! Flowers

OP I am slightly biased but I'm struggling to feel any sympathy for you not being able to go to your holiday home...

ChasingRainbows19 · 20/01/2021 13:34

Ffs doesn’t matter if it’s legal or whatever is allowed we are in a pandemic. Stay at home. Yes it’s shit but we will never get out of this shit with the selfish attitudes. Pretty sure the staff working in Spanish airports and shops would rather you stay at home than risk spreading covid.

Lineofconcepcion · 20/01/2021 13:44

I went out in July, came back November, no problem at all.

Lockdownlumpy · 20/01/2021 13:55

I think you can, because if in Ireland you are EU and borders are open with other EU countries.
Whether you should is another question.

OwMyNeck · 20/01/2021 13:57

No, Ireland says no non-essential travel as well.

In answer to your question, yes you can. But, you should not.

CremeEggThief · 20/01/2021 13:59

What are you looking for with this post, OP, as you seem to be clued-up enough on the legalities?
Are you looking for validation, or are you just trying to annoy people? Whatever it is, YABU.🙄

FinallyFluid · 20/01/2021 14:00

Bearing in mind we are in a pandemic,Hmm maybe this should be your motto.

Nil aon tintean, mar do thintean fein

Apologies for the lack of fadas.

MaMaD1990 · 20/01/2021 14:00

No wonder you're getting your arse handed to you on a plate OP. Honestly.

rowlandsden · 20/01/2021 14:05

If you can, go for it. You will need negative test ok, can you arrange home supermarket delivery so you can isolate for a bit once you get there?

ElizaLaLa · 20/01/2021 14:05

Where in Alicante are you going? Different areas have different rules. The Valencian region has just announced all hospitality must shut, can only do takeaway or delivery and they want to bring curfew forward to 8. You can only come in to the country if you have your residencia. Just having a house here will get you turned away. You still need a negative test too.

Sorry it means, there is no fireside like your own fireside.
Billben · 20/01/2021 14:07

Are people really that dumb that they don’t understand the meaning of “non-essential” ? Open a dictionary OP and it will explain it to you.
There is nothing essential about your plans. You just don’t think the rules should apply to you because you fancy a bit of sun. You are part of the problem. Just stay the fuck at home.

Illy605 · 20/01/2021 14:07

Ffs, suck it up and stay at home like the rest of us. In the middle of a pandemic and all you care about is getting out of the country to your holiday home in Spain. Stop being so bloody selfish and think of the repercussions your idiocy could cause.

Some of us haven’t seen our families in almost a year because of selfish people flouting rules and doing whatever they want. It isn’t essential, so don’t go!!

Catty1720 · 20/01/2021 14:19

I think it would be classed as ‘non Essential’ and IF schools do open sooner than you think you’ll have to get back.
I think it’s really best you don’t however much you want to.

Notimeforaname · 20/01/2021 14:22

Yes you can fly to Spain from Ireland with a negative test

Oh go for it op. If the plane is leaving, get on it!! Private pool?!yes!! If you get there enjoy every second of it!!!Grin

QuentinInQuarantino · 20/01/2021 14:24

Are you sure you'll be allowed in? At the moment only residents (with paper proof) or citizens can enter via sea and air. And the internal borders are shut.

I live in one part of Spain and have an empty holiday home in another and haven't been allowed to go there for 6 months.

SendMeHome · 20/01/2021 14:24

I understand you can only travel into the country if you have a Spanish passport or residencia documents.

I don’t believe you can right now, unless you are legally resident there.

SendMeHome · 20/01/2021 14:24

I managed to delete the part agreeing with the quoted text 🙈 Sorry!

Notimeforaname · 20/01/2021 14:27

Ah it's not lookin good so.
But if the law allows it and you do all the necessary steps before you go then happy days.
I'd be gone in a flashGrin

Brighterthansunflowers · 20/01/2021 14:31

Whether you can or not, you definitely shouldn’t. It’s extremely selfish to travel abroad other than for essential reasons in the middle of a pandemic.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 20/01/2021 14:36

You have to have residency. I know someone who went recently.
