To all of you here on this thread:

Yes, I've had enough champers to be slightly maudlin.

DuncinToffee · 20/01/2021 17:58

The White House is still being cleared and cleaned

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 20/01/2021 18:01

Thank God Trump is gone. My husband is pleased as he thinks my BP will go down now. (Except, Brexit and Johnson are still there.)

Thank you to everyone for keeping these threads going for so long, all the stalwarts, and then the flibbertigibbets like me Grin.

Podium Cleaner Man was my Man of the Match.

AcrossthePond55 · 20/01/2021 18:01

@DuncinToffee

The White House is still being cleared and cleaned
I've been wondering if the Bidens are going to be given the OK to move in today.
PerkingFaintly · 20/01/2021 18:01

No more Biden our time.Grin

I think the new thread should be Across's suggestion of "Donald Who? Biden thread #1"

(So many excellent suggestions we haven't managed to use along the way: sorry not all have got squeezed in.)

AKissAndASmile · 20/01/2021 18:03

You can tell Trump did bugger all while he was in office...all the other ex-presidents visibly aged/lost weight/greyed and he looks exactly the same. Just as fat and orange as ever.

NotaRealLawyer · 20/01/2021 18:03

Is this still AIBU?
So I can say ODFOD to the resident eejit. Here's an award for the most mealy mouthed, nit picky, inane, dogwhistling, contributions on these threads. Biscuit

52andblue · 20/01/2021 18:05

@Lampzade

Amanda Gorman is a talented and very beautiful young lady
thank you @Lampzade, I just saw her name. She was AMAZING!
JazzyGeoff · 20/01/2021 18:05

I've been a long time lurker on these threads, never really understanding enough to feel I can contribute, but have enjoyed reading all your posts.

Thank you for letting me make a few posts on this last day, even if they were totally banal Grin

DuncinToffee · 20/01/2021 18:06

Wine to the posters who started and continued these threads, I have read them since the beginning and only posted very recently, thank you and enjoy this moment.

And also Cake to everyone else

SanFranBear · 20/01/2021 18:06

Wonderful, wonderful stuff.

Shed a few tears with Kamala's signing in (much to DDs disgust!) and the repeated references to just how historic her appointment is!

Joe Biden's speech was the opposite of Trumps four years ago and felt so warm and reassuring.

Personal highlights:

  • Michelle Obama looking stunning
  • The sheer joy in Kamala's smile
  • Pence standing to clap the end of Joe's speech
  • the fact the benediction talked about healing the land, not just the people and, of course,
  • Lady Gaga telling Obama that he 'looks so wonderful'

I do wonder just how they will heal the division... but you know what, FUCK IT for today!

NotaRealLawyer · 20/01/2021 18:07

I'm so happy for the US citizens posting here.

(And the rest of the World too)

Bejazzled · 20/01/2021 18:07

Is there a ball or something tonight?

I thought the new First Ladies outfit was beautiful (as was Melania’s black going away suit)

FionaMacCool · 20/01/2021 18:08

Wow, Amanda Gorman.

there are no words...wow.

"For there is always light
If only we're brave enough to see it
If only we're brave enough to be it."

PerkingFaintly · 20/01/2021 18:08

Or one thread entitled: "For there is always light. Biden thread #1"

Another entitled "Donald Who? Impeachment and fall-out (Trump #)"

And link both threads in the OP?

Dunno. What do people think?

If we can still think right now. I'm cracking out the whisky myself.Grin

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 20/01/2021 18:09

Really good point, @AKissAndASmile.

Ken Olin (once 30 Something) made oi larf:

It is so good to have someone who can form sentences as the President of the USA, after four long years of gobbledygook. Now to find someone similar as PM of the UK.

SanFranBear · 20/01/2021 18:10

Oh, and JLo shouted part of the pledge of allegiance:

One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all

PerkingFaintly · 20/01/2021 18:10

@JazzyGeoff, help yourself to the Wine and Cake!

It's a big enough party for us all.Grin

Bejazzled · 20/01/2021 18:12

Pence has more dignity in his little finger than the fat baby has in his whole body.

gwenneh · 20/01/2021 18:12

It's funny, I'm WFH and monitoring sales figures today. They were in the toilet ALL MORNING, like everyone was holding their breath, and then shot upwards about 20 minutes ago.

Roussette · 20/01/2021 18:13

So wonderful to see all the lurkers and occasional posters posting on this momentous day! Can't name you all, but you are sooooo appreciated and please don't worry about posting inane stuff, I do it all the time Grin

Mintjulia · 20/01/2021 18:14

Has Trump really gone? Finally! Thank goodness for that.

Cake Brew

IntermittentParps · 20/01/2021 18:15

God, I was in bits.

Loved Kamala Harris's look of joy and pride. Loved Jennifer L doing This Land Is Your Land. Loved the Obamas' outfits. Loved your man doing the benediction in his sunnies. Loved Amanda Gorman –what a tour de force that was!
And a special mention for Podium Cleaning Man. Grin

Also loved Trump stropping off to Florida and leaving his staff to slink out of the White House on their own.

Felt like a genuinely hopeful day.

Roussette · 20/01/2021 18:15

Could we perhaps name the threads 'Biden' but keep the number going? It is something to be proud of.
Next one is #123

MarshaBradyo · 20/01/2021 18:15

I remember posters telling us this wouldn’t happen. Even after the election

Tg they’ve all gone quiet.

Happy days
