Well said Rev

boatyardblues · 20/01/2021 17:31

This inauguration has me feeling hopeful for the first time in a while.

JamieLeeCurtains · 20/01/2021 17:32

Biden's off in a minute to sign some executive orders, and to rescind a presidential permit for a certain pipeline.

RedToothBrush · 20/01/2021 17:32

Hugs.

Just hugs.

middlepuddle · 20/01/2021 17:32

Wonder what the Qanon lot are thinking, they all seemed to believe this wouldn't happen?

Hatstrategicallydipped · 20/01/2021 17:33

Lol DGRosetti!

Everyone knows a Dave Gorman then I guess! My Dave Gorman used to beat me at maths every week so I hated him (primary school).

I have to wonder.

My mother sent me footage from the security camera in her office (they are business owners so it's her camera) of a local businessman telling her "There won't be an inauguration on the 20th, you just watch. The Pope is in on it."

At this point they're so far diverged from reality that I have to wonder what they're going to come up with to resolve that level of cognitive dissonance.

itsgettingweird · 20/01/2021 17:34

@lifeturnsonadime

She's really interesting. Harvard at 16, had a speech impediment and has auditory processing disorder.

Jill Biden apparently picked her to recite her own work.

One to watch.

Definitely one to watch. So inspirational saying how she came from a position that made people think she'd be nothing.

So important to have people out there who show what you can be and anyone can be what they want. Powerful message.

52andblue · 20/01/2021 17:36

Bloody hell that lass is amazing!!! (on catch up due to kids)

Great speech from Biden too. In tears.

Lampzade · 20/01/2021 17:36

Amanda Gorman is a talented and very beautiful young lady

Apparently the latest idea is that Biden was Q all along
PerkingFaintly · 20/01/2021 17:38

A commentator two weeks ago – think it was Van Jones – said that we could talk of the insurrection as the start of something.

Or we could talk of it as the end of something. A surfacing of what had been lurking beneath for a long time, and was now bubbling out and dispersing.

I'm holding onto that.

The Aftermath begins.

Hatstrategicallydipped · 20/01/2021 17:39

My moving moments

Lady in yellow mustard coat speaking
Jill Biden looking at her husband while he was sworn in
Entrance of Lady Gaga
Young Amanda's poem - she just seemed so hopeful

JamieLeeCurtains · 20/01/2021 17:40

Gaga really likes talking to Obama!

Hatstrategicallydipped · 20/01/2021 17:40

Oh and Kamala Harris being sworn in - big smile and a nod during her oath. All very powerful.

Hatstrategicallydipped · 20/01/2021 17:41

Michelle would use her dress as a mop lol
AcrossthePond55 · 20/01/2021 17:41

The benediction was beautiful and really hit home on the work we need to do, and the grace we need to do it.

Hatstrategicallydipped · 20/01/2021 17:42

Have to say I fancy Obama myself. I've read Michelle's biography however, and he sounds like a very introverted person, so not really my type. I'm fussy ya'know.

CoteFolie · 20/01/2021 17:42

Phew! What a relief. What a heart lifting service. Amanda Gorman wow!

Congratulations to our American posters and many thanks to everyone who kep us sane and informed over the past 4 years. 🍾🍾🍾

I feel a weight has been lifted.

Now to turn the UK to something that also reflects competent, compassionate government. 😊

I think a note of caution is needed. Don't let this euphoria trick anyone into thinking that somehow the past 4 years could never happen again. Enjoy it. But be alert.

What an odd job (POTUS) for an introvert!
Hatstrategicallydipped · 20/01/2021 17:44

I'm interested to see how Biden proceeds as world leader. He has been second in command for long enough.
