And to tell you I’m so excited by it! I really think this is the beginning of the end of this nightmare. There are so many people here and it’s all very efficient.

Felt a bit emotional myself at sight of the vaccination clinic running. Beginning of the end.

Pawpatrollers2021 · 19/01/2021 15:19

Dear god I hope so. I can’t wait for my parents PIL to get theirs.

purpleboy · 19/01/2021 15:20

Great news! I hope it's the beginning of the end too!

unmarkedbythat · 19/01/2021 15:22

I had mine Saturday, it was really, really well run and I felt like kissing the nurse (obviously I didn't!) and doing a little dance.

I had a sore arm and was absolutely exhausted for a couple of days afterwards but other than that, no issues at all. Hope it goes really well for your DM :)

thebabessavedme · 19/01/2021 16:02

my df is getting his later today, I am a bit bemused though as my dm, who is a year older than him has not been contacted yet. It seems a bit daft to get 2 old people to make two trips to the jab place, from the same address Confused

I am however so very thankful to all the people who have made this happen!

Mind you, they can have my olds round for dinner in 3 weeks Grin as they are champing at the bit to get out and dont seem to get that until we have had ours we still cant mix. I know that df is going to be gutted that his local is not going to opened in celebration of his jab!

purpleboy · 19/01/2021 16:05

@thebabessavedme when my dad got his, my mum went with him, they told her when they got there she might as well get it done at the same time as they are from the same household, so she did.
It would appear from conversations I've had with people it's extremely common in our area.

Rocketpants50 · 19/01/2021 16:14

Am v grateful grandma has had her 2 shots. Hoping dm and dd will be soon to.

thebabessavedme · 19/01/2021 16:26

@purpleboy Im very much hoping that this will happen, however, I said to dm that she should ask and the reply was 'well, I dont know, I dont want to be a bother' argggggghhhhh!

SusieSusieSoo · 19/01/2021 16:28

DM has hers Thursday it feels brilliant doesn't it?

MaggieFS · 19/01/2021 16:29

Oh wonderful! My mum is the batch due to be invited from this week and I just can't wait. I keep reading how they might now prioritise school staff or key workers instead of this group and I'm so desperate for her to just get the first dose.

Cuntitinthebin · 19/01/2021 16:29

My best friend had hers on Thursday and I'M SO PROUD OF HER!!!

Please don’t do this. One vaccine does reduce the chance that they will get corona virus but not stop it. The whole country needs to continue to socially distance at the moment.
Mydogisagentleman · 19/01/2021 16:30

Dad had his last week, mum tomorrow.
Hopefully I will be done next week and, DH who isn’t vulnerable and works from home, sometime in the near future

JaninaDuszejko · 19/01/2021 16:34

MIL (mid 80s) is getting her first jab this week. Very happy, although I'll be happier when I know which one and that's she's had her second jab.

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 19/01/2021 16:45

I had mine yesterday too (nurse) and was awed at all of the people working and all of the NHS staff waiting to have it done. I, like everyone else, pray to high heaven this nightmare will be over soon.

My arm is bloody throbbing though today but hey ho small price to pay Smile

Crazycatlady83 · 19/01/2021 16:48

My parents had theirs yesterday! They Said it was really well organised and I’m so grateful that they have had the first jab! They said it will be 9 - 11 weeks until the second one and then I can properly stop worrying about them!

MinnieMountain · 19/01/2021 16:49

My 75 yo neighbour had his last week. It’s great to hear of it being done.

Clariana · 19/01/2021 16:49

Neither of my 90+ parents have even been contact yet, and neither has left the house since last March, I doubt they ever will now, their lives are over :(

U2HasTheEdge · 19/01/2021 16:50

I have mine tonight (NHS).

My grandparents in a care home have had theirs- I can't wait until I can see them again. I know it is going to be a while, but it's a step in the right direction.

MrsBeltane · 19/01/2021 16:50

I've been working at one of the mass vaccination centres. Lots of people have been very emotional once the injection has been given. It's such a rewarding job.

ShipshapeShore · 19/01/2021 16:53

My parents are due to have theirs soon. I will be so happy, we have all tried so hard to protect my Dad for so long, it will be marvellous when he has some protection. I'm really happy for everyone seeing their loved ones receive theirs, the end of the tunnel must look much closer. Everyone thinks I'm joking when I say that when it's my turn I'll be running to the door rolling my sleeve up!

Physer · 19/01/2021 16:53

DH and I are in this next cohort, he's over 70 and I am CEV. I'll be miffed if he gets called up before me Grin
Do they give a follow up appointment for the second jab in 12 weeks?

Crunchymum · 19/01/2021 16:53

That doesn't seem right. Can you contact their GP to clarify (if they can't or won't themselves)
RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 19/01/2021 16:54

So pleased for your DM

My Dad had the phone call this morning to book him in for his jab on Friday. It's my birthday today (shameless mention) and it's the best present I could have had Smile

PuckleP · 19/01/2021 16:55

My parents had theirs last week. My DF had a text from the surgery but DM didn't when I queried this, it was because she has never given them her mobile number. I explained to the surgery and they booked them both in together
