And to tell you I’m so excited by it! I really think this is the beginning of the end of this nightmare. There are so many people here and it’s all very efficient.

@Crunchymum

Thank you, yes perhaps I should on their behalf, they are just sticking to the advice saying "don't contact us we will get to you" so they won't do it for themselves

Els1e · 19/01/2021 16:56

I’m excited too. Mum (79) will be this Friday at 12.05pm. 😀 I feel like we are progressing out of this.

dublingirl66 · 19/01/2021 16:58

As someone who is now battling this awful virus
I am so happy to read this
What a relief and well done to the amazing people of this country for working on it and delivering it to clinics xxx

sunnyday1976 · 19/01/2021 17:00

@Clariana my DG is 91, she only got her letter yesterday, and has had her's this morning. So it can all be very quick. We were starting to get a bit concerned about when she would be contacted.

1FootInTheRave · 19/01/2021 17:02

Just had mine.

Both grandma's have had theirs too.

Dh is cev so am desperate for him to have his asap.

5foot5 · 19/01/2021 17:09

FIL (90) has had both shots. He had the first one in December and the second one first week January.

I am in the 55+ group and have no special circumstances so will be a while before I am called. However I might have had it already because I am taking part in a vaccine trial for one of the others in development (Novavax). It's a double-blind trial so there is a 50/50 chance I just had the placebo - but equally I might have had the real thing.

Apparently when we do get called by the GP we have to contact the vaccine trial and they will un-blind our result and let us know which group we are in. Obviously if the placebo group I will go get the real thing. If not I think I have to see what the advice is at the time.

My mum was due to have her's 10 minutes ago as she's NHS I am so relieved. Just eager now for my step dad with COPD to get his but as he's only 58 it will probably be a while yetSad

junecat · 19/01/2021 17:36

My Dad had his yesterday ❤️ I was too excited to sleep on Sunday night :) It was really well organised and he was only in there for half an hour x

middleager · 19/01/2021 17:44

FIL, 83, has had both doses and was in the first week of rollout.

Dad, 76, has had his first one and his wife, 60, has had hers (her daughter works for a GP and had spare doses)

My mother, 74, has now been called for hers and I'm so happy for her.

thebabessavedme · 19/01/2021 18:11

@Thatwentbadly, no WE are not having them round, It was a tongue in cheek comment about the lovely people who have vaxinated my parents as in THEY can now have round for dinner!

Thatwentbadly · 19/01/2021 20:10

@thebabessavedme sorry, in my defence I’m seriously sleep deprived. I can’t wait for my parent and DH to get their vaccines.

NoToMisogyny · 19/01/2021 20:26

I am DESPERATE for my mum to get hers. No word yet. But I’m agonised that the positivity in the media etc seems to have gone. Everyone’s talking about how the vaccines AREN’T an end to this now, or at least not for ages!

Rexasaurus · 19/01/2021 20:44

My mum gets hers on Thursday.

We’ll still keep the kids away from her as much as possible for a good while yet but I’m ridiculously excited

ghostyslovesheets · 19/01/2021 20:46

my mum had hers the week before Christmas - it was a lovely feeling

sadly her second jab was postponed

Catsandchardonnay · 19/01/2021 22:18

Aww thank you all, some lovely comments. I felt quite emotional today.

To answer some questions - she had the Pfizer vaccine and she hasn’t got a second appointment yet, they’ll phone us apparently.

She actually was invited through 2 sources - she had a general NHS letter inviting her to make an appointment (which we did and it was going to be at a local pharmacy) then the GP surgery phoned with an earlier slot.

They were doing loads today, with stewards organising where everyone should go, it was very efficient.

Hope all those waiting themselves or with loved ones waiting will get them soon Flowers
