Three weeks ago my friend asked me to look after her 2 hamsters whilst her house was being decorated.
I have never had hamsters and I don't really like them but she was desperate for someone to look after them so I said yes.
When she has asked how they are I have been positive "oh they are fine don't worry we are getting on great" etc etc
Today is my birthday ..she rings me
As my gift to you I'm letting you keep the hamsters ...
So I said "oh no don't be silly,I've enjoyed having them but they belong to you"
She replied .."no no I insist ..."
I don't want them
Aibu to say no ?
I think she just can't be arsed with them anymore tbh

Happy Birthday OP. I had a hamster after being badgered by my kids when they were young. It was cute but bloody thing slept all day and made loads of noise at night! Don't argue it further with her, just take them back when she's in, knock on her door and walk away.

Don't see why the hamsters needed to come to you in the first place. You need to say a definite no, I don't want them.

Tell her your allergic she needs to get them ASAP

I laughed at the cf and no I insist. This is one of those times you are going to have to be blunt say you did her a favour but hamsters are not for me and you don’t want them . Will drop them round the next day .

Cheeky cow. Go round when you know she's in and drop them off. Don't take no for an answer.

Or do you have friends who like hamsters? They might have a better life than with your cheeky friend

Don’t give excuses like you’re too busy etc, be more upfront and say you actually don’t want them but thanks! Otherwise she might think you are just being nice!

Have you accidentally been too complimentary about them during the week as well? Wink

CF. Tell her you don't want them. Maybe that you don't even like them.

I wouldn’t even give them back to her to be honest she sounds like a terrible pet owner. They’d be better off in a rescue than with her imo.

@harrietbarrier33

If it was a dog I would have kept him/her but me and hamsters aren't the greatest friends.
I'm going to just say no.
No I don't want your hamsters but Thankyou,I'm just too busy with work and it working be fair on them.

I think it would be better to go with "I was looking after your hamsters as a favour to you - I do not want them. You need to come and pick them up now."

😂😂

Three weeks to decorate her house? Three days would be a cheek, why couldn’t she put them in another room? Take them back now.
