Dog poo-ing on our garden every morning and evening. AIBU to say something?

We live in a quiet area with just three houses in a sort of cul de sac. We are part of a small estate but at the bottom of it. Nobody comes down here unless they live here or are delivering something really.

However there is a cut through at the top and every morning and evening for the past week, a woman has started appearing from this cut through and walking past our house with her large dog. And every morning and evening, this dog is doing a poo on my front garden.

It cocks it's leg on my bushes and had a wee and then settles down for a poo. And yes - she does stand there watching and picks it up

The reason I know? We have security cameras. The reason I've not said anything to her yet? I have annoyingly either been asleep/ in the shower/ in the garage/ out shopping. Nearly managed it this morning but by the time I'd opened my front door, she was turning the corner and I wasn't about to screech!

So ... onto my AIBU. My DH thinks that as she's picking it up then meh, not a massive deal. I think differently - I don't want my front lawn used as a dog toilet and I think it's bad manners to allow your dog to do this. Once I sort of get - but this is now becoming a pattern.

AIBU to literally stake out my camera notifications today and ensure I can get to my front door and ask her to stop immediately? Or just ignore it?

she does pick it up - from lots of you! Sorry, somehow missed that. OP, ignore me.Grin

@LucyLime I know exactly what you mean as I have lazy CFckers do this too . They have no regard for people's property and /or are too engrossed in their phones staring at them rather than watching their dog. I bought a sign like this and it seems to have done the trick . Within 100 yards of our house there is a special wooded area for this too .

You are of course not being unreasonable - initially when I read she picks it up I thought well that's something, if it was once or twice. But the fact it's repeatedly is not okay and I wouldn't like this either.

Theunamedcat · 18/01/2021 12:08

Automatic water sprinkling system that you control from the house as soon as they come over turn it on

MotherofTerriers · 18/01/2021 12:09

I have dogs and this is well out of order
I'd be out there to speak to her - first time politely, second time bucket of water

If the dog does a "loose" poo she won't pick all of it up, and the repeated toileting won't do your grass any good.

murbblurb · 18/01/2021 12:10

put up a sign that says 'rodent bait on lawn - keep your dog clear'. You don't actually have to put bait down. poisoning dogs is an offence I've got one of these who empties their dog right in front of the polite 'please clean up sign' so this is my next idea.

filthy skank. She should empty her dog on the road or her own garden. Yes, she picks up, but it is still filth.

Eckhart · 18/01/2021 12:13

I'm a dog owner.

If someone's dog is shitting in your garden, they shouldn't be letting them do that. But if they don't realise that, you need to tell them. If they don't heed, you need a catapult and some frozen peas (to aim at the owner, not the dog)

Yohoheaveho · 18/01/2021 12:15

If the dog does a "loose" poo
Why should members of the public have to put up with 'loose poo' in public areas, why do we have to have Streets stained with diarrhoea?
Why can't people keep their shit at home?
any other pet it's excrement is dealt with by the owner on the premises but dogs... oh no we have to have the shit smeared all over the countryside and urban areas.
It's disgusting, it ruins they outdoors for everyone else, and it's only getting worse, more and more people are buying dogs, paying stupid amounts of money for them, treating them like little emperor's and letting them crap all over the place

iailwfsaidc · 18/01/2021 12:16

I cannot believe that anyone thinks it is ok to let a dog shit in someone else's garden. Absolutely disgusting. Ok, she cleans it up, but she shouldn't be doing it and every fucking day?

But I suppose some people most think it's ok as a neighbour of mine has recently put signs up about it as someone has been letting their dog poo their.

Put signs up and see if you can work out approximately what time she comes past and wait for her to tell her to stop.

It's disgusting. I don't know when people became so anti-social as to do things like. The thread about the noisy washing machine shocked me this week too -how on earth can so many people think it's ok to run a washing machine in a terraced house in the middle of the night. And how can so many people think it's fine to let a dog shit in someone's garden?

cittabassa · 18/01/2021 12:16

Selfish dog owners are a real problem.

I have a dog and am embarrassed to walk along some streets in case people think I'm one of these disgusting people.

Nonbio46 · 18/01/2021 12:16

I always pull my dog to the pavement if he starts squatting on someone’s drive, path or garden. Could you maybe sprinkle some washing powder on the grass or something else that might put the dog off going ‘there’. Good luck. x

SuperHighway · 18/01/2021 12:17

I definitely would not allow my dog to do its business on someone's garden. Dog owners who do give us all a bad name. YABU however for not giving us a diagram 😄

Hillary111 · 18/01/2021 12:22

A dog goes when it needs to go, this cannot (in most circumstances) be helped. Yes, you can try and drag the dog mid-shit but sometimes this isn't always possible. A number of times my dog has started to go without me realising and by then it's too late... what should i do? Hold my hands underneath to catch it?!

you should not let them wander into someone's drive, path or garden.

It is private property.

There are countless threads about people irritated with dogs weeing on their gateposts too.

My dog is trained to walk by my side until I reach the field. he is far form perfect, but pavements and drives etc are NOT public space

tenlittlecygnets · 18/01/2021 12:25

Totally bad manners! You don't let your dog shit in someone's garden!!

If the dog owner hadn’t allowed the dog to wander into OPs garden in the first place there would be no need to “drag” it anywhere. They have these wonderful inventions these days, I think they are calling them leads or harnesses or something....
PrtScn · 18/01/2021 12:27

I can see how this would be annoying, I’d probably say something if I saw her doing it. At least she is picking it up. I have cats constantly crapping in my garden and nobody picks up those little feckers shits. I have to depoo the garden whenever my toddler wants to go out and play. Cats poo is nasty stuff. I’d much rather it be dog crap.

Pippa234 · 18/01/2021 12:27

Very antisocial behaviour YANBU OP.

Hillary111 · 18/01/2021 12:28

Well there is obviously a difference between being in the middle of the garden or on the peripheries... I haven't read the whole thread, does OP specify?

dontdisturbmenow · 18/01/2021 12:28

If she picks it up and doesn't put the poo in your bin, I fail to understand the outrage. Do you think cats ensure they don't poo on your lawn at night, or foxes.

I'd be very annoyed if she didn't pick it up but if she is, and therefore it's not all runny, you are being very precious.

Yohoheaveho · 18/01/2021 12:29

what should i do? Hold my hands underneath to catch it?!
Why are you asking us?
you chose to get a dog for your pleasure and enjoyment, you have to deal with the shit, it is not acceptable to say 'the dog does what it wants to and there's nothing I can do about it'

yearinyearout · 18/01/2021 12:29

I wouldn't let my dog crap on someone's garden, even though I'd be picking it up. It's just not very good manners. That said, I used to let my old dog off the lead just before we got to the field at the end of a cul de sac and she once ran ahead and did a massive one right in the middle of someone's lawn. Mortified.

WiddlinDiddlin · 18/01/2021 12:30

YANBU to ask her not to let her dog shit there.

YABVU not to supply diagram of unusually laid out front garden however.

LizDiz · 18/01/2021 12:32

I own a dog and I dont let him walk onto other people's property. I caught someone doing this on my drive and gave them short shrift. It's not on.

Oreservoir · 18/01/2021 12:33

Yanbu. I was mortified when my dog just peed on a ndn garden and apologised profusely. I used to let her off lead just before our house and stopped after that.

No responsible dog owner allows their dog to soil peoples gardens. It’s disgusting and gives us all a bad name.
