Dog poo-ing on our garden every morning and evening. AIBU to say something?

We live in a quiet area with just three houses in a sort of cul de sac. We are part of a small estate but at the bottom of it. Nobody comes down here unless they live here or are delivering something really.

However there is a cut through at the top and every morning and evening for the past week, a woman has started appearing from this cut through and walking past our house with her large dog. And every morning and evening, this dog is doing a poo on my front garden.

It cocks it's leg on my bushes and had a wee and then settles down for a poo. And yes - she does stand there watching and picks it up

The reason I know? We have security cameras. The reason I've not said anything to her yet? I have annoyingly either been asleep/ in the shower/ in the garage/ out shopping. Nearly managed it this morning but by the time I'd opened my front door, she was turning the corner and I wasn't about to screech!

So ... onto my AIBU. My DH thinks that as she's picking it up then meh, not a massive deal. I think differently - I don't want my front lawn used as a dog toilet and I think it's bad manners to allow your dog to do this. Once I sort of get - but this is now becoming a pattern.

AIBU to literally stake out my camera notifications today and ensure I can get to my front door and ask her to stop immediately? Or just ignore it?

UPDATE!!!

I got her! Oh yeah! She walked past at 7:32pm and my phone pinged with a notification. I leapt up, dropping my Diet Coke on my top and ran outside just as she was about to round the corner.

I'd literally put the sign up at 7.20pm! Anyway, I shouted 'excuse me, did you read my sign?' and she was very blustering and said ' err yes yes but the dog only walked on your lawn once and I didn't realise and it won't be happening again'

So I said ' we have security cameras as I've put on the sign! You have been doing this all week and your dog is shitting on my garden'

She started to say ' I take offence at that..' so I cut across her and said ' you take offence?! It's far more offensive to me that your dog is using my garden as a toilet and it stops now. Also please collect your poo bags from the green'

She said they weren't hers so I told her that 2 people had seen her leave them there and if it wasn't her, she had a double who also wore a long green Barbour, with a head torch and had a golden retriever!

I then just shouted (having to have a raised voice as she was about to round the corner so was some distance from me) that it stops NOW and she said she wouldn't walk her dog past my house again. I said THANK YOU NOW GO AND COLLECT YOUR BAGS and walked back inside

... my husband was in the study with headphones on and said he'd heard every word 😂😂😂

Brilliant update OP!

Grin

Dog owner here too who thinks it's awful for someone to let their dog go into people's gardens, let alone do their business there.

@LucyLime
Do what you like. I don't see a problem if it gets picked up but I can see other people fell differently. It doesn't matter if 99% of people on her agree with you, that won't make this women change her behaviour. Passive aggressive bullshit won't work either and could make it worse.. She might get annoyed and come round even more frequently with her dog now. Good luck.

simonisnotme · 18/01/2021 19:56

well done OP
Lets hope the dirty mare takes the mutt to empty it elseware in future

Thehawki · 18/01/2021 20:00

Your post seems great. You've done the right thing, this lady sounds nuts. Who lines up poo bags?! Shock Keep us posted, I'm strangely invested in this now! Grin

GlamGiraffe · 18/01/2021 20:00

Chapeau OP. Chapeau.

CaraDuneRedux · 18/01/2021 20:04

Lucy you are my hero (and my late mother, bless her, is saluting you from the grave - see post about the foot high letters on the garden gate!)

lljkk · 18/01/2021 20:05

Bloody Hell Lucy, you will now be The Village Legend.

LucyLime · 18/01/2021 20:06

I don't think she will come back either.

I wasn't passive aggressive by the way @sadeyes21 - that is not my style. My Facebook post wasn't snide and my sign wasn't snide. I'm fairly to the point. I also didn't scream at her ... I raised my voice and was err 'cross sounding' 😂

I'm going to be surprised if she trots past again tomorrow with the dog. The camera footage is hilarious of her stopping to read the sign just before I managed to speak to her. Her dog was literally shitting on the garden and she was dragging it off whilst trying to walk away as fast as possible. A far cry from how she usually is - yawning or reading her phone as it has a poo

She would definitely have liked the cut of your jib Grin. If only motion-sensitive cameras had been available in the 1970s.

Santaiscovidfree · 18/01/2021 20:20

We regularly found dog poo in our garden, always in the same spot. A few weeks ago I noticed someone across the street standing still and looking at the side of our house. I peeked through the window and saw they were watching a man letting his dog, on an extended lead go into our garden and do a poo. I managed to get to our front door just as he was picking it up (I suspect he was only picking it up as he knew the person across the street was watching him). I asked him not to let it poo in the garden again. When he said, ‘but I picked it up’ I just said it’s irrelevant, it’s not pleasant and I don’t want it to happen again. Not found any more poos there so a polite request not to do it again seemed to work.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 18/01/2021 20:34

Oh well done @LucyLime well done. 👏 🥂 💐

Gobbeldegook · 18/01/2021 20:34

You need a sign.

Gobbeldegook · 18/01/2021 20:35

Or you could follow her home and shit on her lawn.

Gobbeldegook · 18/01/2021 20:35

Joking on the last one mind 😂
