TV turned itself on

All of us upstairs asleep, just woken to noise of downstairs TV on. Know we turned it off hours ago to come up to bed. How can it turn itself on??!! Creeped out now. Husband done a reccy all round house.

When we had our old set, if my husband sneezed, the TV changed channels! Caused great amusement.

We have sky and if the kids use the sky remote to turn off the tv, the tv comes back on at some point.

On both our TVs I should add.

Unplug it. If the recently passed spirit get get it to come on with no mains power, ghosts are definitely real.

This happened to me a few years ago. I lived alone. Left early morning for work. Didn't ever turn the living room tv on in the mornings. Came home from work. Living room TV was on. I always turned it off at the wall. The telly. The box. So not only did the telly come on but the box did too. And it's not like it had been on since I left 12 hours before, as it would have went to sleep and turned off after a while of no use..

Ours does this frequently. It's triggered by software updates. It's bloody annoying when I'm working late and it leaps into action behind me.

Reminds me of a funny anecdote some years ago: H and I watched The Ring one evening and he had to travel abroad the next day for a week. I found the film quite spooky but to make things worse the bastard helpfully pointed out that our neighbours have a well (true). The next night when I was on my own, my laptop switched itself on in the middle of the night. I was definitely very spooked. Left the lights on...
