I am a confessed chocoholic.
I like having one 'row' of plain chocolate after dinner.
my usual supermarked own brand has changed from neat rows into a weird uneven crissy crossy pattern.
aibu to say that that should be illegal?

Subtle way to encourage people to eat more, so they sell more.

LittleRa · 15/01/2021 20:35

Have you tried Tony’s Chocolonely? Grin

It should. Absolutely.

Can I add ever changing the formulae of products. Make a new thing if you want a new thing. It's never 'improved'. Ever.

AnathemaPulsifer · 15/01/2021 20:37

They make such a mess when you break off a square, too (I’m looking at you Tony’s Chocolonely)

I was gonna mention Tony's Chocolonely. Delicious chocolate, frustrating design. I always end up eating way more than intended...

HorseOfPhillipMoss · 15/01/2021 20:37

I thought this was going to be about Tony's 😁

Better than dull uniformity

mongoosebaby · 15/01/2021 20:40

Just eat the whole bloody thing. Problem solved!

anxiousturtle · 15/01/2021 20:41

Yep, had some of that Tony's stuff and it was lovely but I won't buy it again because it's too awkward to break up!

I also clicked thinking this was going to be about Tony's. Frustrating.

redcandlelight · 15/01/2021 20:50

I only want one row!

--well, not really. I want the whole bar. I
I would look like aunt marge in harry potter if I had more than a row on a regular basis--

This is the best approach tbh
CustardySergeant · 15/01/2021 20:54

If it's about Tony's Chocolonely the company explains the uneven sections of the bar on their website tonyschocolonely.com/uk/en/frequently-asked-questions

CustardySergeant · 15/01/2021 20:55

Sorry, I now see I was barking up the wrong tree. Blush

redcandlelight · 15/01/2021 20:57

I don't care about tony's.
I won't buy them because of the silly shapes.

I feel really irrationally strongly about this. It’s so annoying and all the expensive brands do it.

MrBeagles · 15/01/2021 21:02

Yes! They are just enticingly hoping you'll eat the lot ~~and I often do Blush~~

I totally agree @B33Fr33. Don't get me wrong, I love a square of chocolate as much as the next person, but after that square I like to mix it up a bit.

WTF has my life become that irregular shaped chocolate is the only bit of excitement I have. Just fucking kill me now.

I thought I was safe with cheap own brand chocolate.

SlopesOff · 15/01/2021 21:10

Tony's is annoying if you open it forgetting it is uneven and try to break the end off.

The best way is to open it fully and bite it from the edges, stop when/if you have had enough, wrap it up, then next time stuff the big centre bit in your mouth in one go.

It is the only chocolate I buy now, because it actually contains chocolate, most others are far too sweet.

Fatherbrownsbicycle · 15/01/2021 21:12

YANBU op. I won’t be buying one of these bars again because of the uneven chunks, I won’t buy Tony’s either.
