Of course, plus biscuits and tea for all the time I spend sitting around on my arse at work, plus a spare charger for when I run my phone battery down making tik tok videos. WinkGrin[/quote]

‘there's McDonald's drive through but that has a massive queue.’

Even I can’t cope with McDs every day Grin
We’ve had a few coffee places locally set up mobile units which are a godsend! I hope they survive long after covid.

I find the number of people who equate nurses = hospitals astounding.

Their tiny minds can’t comprehend that not all HCP roles are nurses, and not all work in hospitals.

I work in primary care and wear scrubs. I have been known to get petrol on the way home, and even 😱 pop into a shop for milk or bread. In my scrubs.

Funnily enough I also understand infection control and wear plastic aprons at work, as well as luckily having a very low exposure to bodily fluids in my role. If I DID get blood, snot, sweat, pus, sputum, urine, faeces or vomit on my scrubs funnily enough I’d change them rather than continue to wear them for the rest of the day.

My scrubs are no more dirty than anyone else’s regular clothes.

Suzi888 · 16/01/2021 10:56

I wouldn’t take any notice Confused

peak2021 · 16/01/2021 10:59

A pity that they did not have a safe Covid secure place to change at the end of their shift. Perhaps an invalid assumption, but that's the one I would make.

As a community nurse in a rural area I get you. However, I probably would have tried to explain to the offending person, so they can feel reassured and hopefully won’t make comments again. It is probably just ignorance, mixed with a bit of fear.
At present, many people travel to and from work in scrubs (changing either end) specifically for infection control reasons. And others will be seen out and about in the course of their work.
A young man let me skip the queue when paying for fuel the other day, he said it was because we do a great job and I was much busier than he was but it may have just been so that they didn’t have to stand next to me for long Smile

MysweetAudrina · 16/01/2021 11:22

Honestly, I'd probably think, I don't want no scrub, a scrub is a guy who can't get no love from me. And then I would check to seek if he had a buddy hanging out the passenger side trying to holler at me.

Chrispackhamspoodle · 16/01/2021 11:32

I'd think they were a community nurse.Where are we supposed to get changed...in the street? In my job I wear 2 sets of scrubs for visits and full PPE.When I leave a house take off the PPE at my car boot and it goes in a clinical waste bag. THEN the first set of scrubs goes in my scrub bag and straight in the machine when I get home and fully strip.Does that help?

Doublefaced · 16/01/2021 13:26

@Chrispackhamspoodle.
( Am also community). I take off my PPE in the house, bag it in a small clinical waste bag and then ask for it to be put straight in the outside bin (I’ll do this myself but generally people insist on doing it for me) I then wash and sanitise my hands as I leave.
I generally avoid petrol stations except in dire circumstances which is why the comment stung a bit yesterday!

I doubt I'd notice but if I did I'd assume that they had a reason for being in them.

ispepsiokay · 16/01/2021 20:52

Unless the person wearing scrubs was covered in blood splatters and carrying a scalpel I doubt I'd notice TBH.

ImBoredAgain · 16/01/2021 21:01

I wouldn’t bat an eyelid, because as a paramedic I’ve many times been given the eye roll for grabbing a sandwich during break, even more so since COVID became a thing.

I don’t always have time to meal prep, and I’m not carrying food round in a bag all day when I can buy a fresh one.

Beyondridiculous · 16/01/2021 21:04

I’d think NHS staff work in scrubs and change into fresh ones to leave. That’s the new process to shop them having to leave in the same clothes, I’d also think god I bet that persons working their arse off. Probably wouldnt go online and try and start being snarky

Beyondridiculous · 16/01/2021 21:06

I see you are the scrub wearer, my apologies and thanks to you for your hard work. I will post the mint aero

lurker101 · 16/01/2021 21:09

I would wonder about hygiene (whether going to or from work). When I worked for a well known fast food company we weren’t allowed to wear uniform to/from work for hygiene reasons and I have always thought that the same should apply to healthcare workers and that they should change before/after shift where possible, although obviously I recognise that wouldn’t work for those working in the community that have to stop for petrol mid-shift for example.

lurker101 · 16/01/2021 21:10

Ah just searched the thread and see the situation I described is what happened 😂

SD1978 · 16/01/2021 21:18

Very negative- and I say that as a HCP. They are fir the workplace and there is more than enough places to get changed at work.

SD1978 · 16/01/2021 21:20

However- also wouldn't comment as I am aware that if community based- may be no other choice.

MissMarpleDarling · 16/01/2021 21:46

I'd assume they were a carer and wouldn't care

LouJ85 · 16/01/2021 23:08

@Madeupwithit

Wouldn't occur to me to think anything
This.

Sadly the community doesn't have many places to change. You could walk naked out of a clients house and re-dress at the boot if your car... Before going to visit the next person...

I'm assuming you are hospital based. Many of us aren't.
