Given the current circumstances I would avoid and wait or go elsewhere. I am not medically vulnerable but know people who have less health privilege so mitigating as much potential Covid exposure risks as possible. Not suggesting that a surgeon or doctor would be knowingly putting people at risk as that would be counter intuitive obviously! I guessing there is minimal and next to no (hopefully) possibility of any Covid contamination but then again some one some where is asymptomatic and doing the super spreading as otherwise it would be long contained and eradicated.

ButiLoveHim32 · 15/01/2021 20:18

To be wearing them in public smacks of unsanitary practices or showing off
Have NHS friends... none wear scrubs outside of a hospital

Do you genuinely not realise that the NHS and its employees exists outside of the walls of a hospital? I work in a specialist Hospice role. 87% of our care actually takes place in the community. I would expect people to have basic intelligence and understand there are community workers out and about. And shock horror they sometimes need petrol, food or to use a toilet. I suppose not everyone in the world can be a logical thinker though.

JohnBarron · 15/01/2021 20:21

It’s almost as if the OP had said in a previous post that she works in the community...

Saracen · 15/01/2021 20:27

I didn't realise it wasn't normal. I live near several big hospitals and many of the staff wear scrubs to and from work. Are they not supposed to?

Doublefaced · 15/01/2021 20:29

@1Morewineplease

I was under the impression that scrubs stayed at hospital to be brutally burned in the hottest sterile wash possible. To be wearing them in public smacks of unsanitary practices or showing off Have NHS friends... none wear scrubs outside of a hospital.
Grin Total show off me. Have you heard of community nurses?

Health visitors wear scrubs. They have to drive to families. Portage workers wear scrubs. I nearly wore scrubs today. I don't get allocated scrubs. I get a polo shirt. But today I got weed on. If my trousers hadn't dried I'd have begged scrubs from the community nurses. I stopped for fuel on the way back from my client.

Murraysmum · 15/01/2021 20:30

I wouldn't necessarily think they were a healthcare worker. My daughter who is a vet wears them to work.

cunningartificer · 15/01/2021 20:31

This is funny. Do these people feel the same way if they see their GP at the petrol station? In their disgusting normal clothes?😁

I actually don’t wear scrubs to and from work. I change into my own clothes to travel home and then strip off and straight into the shower. The beauty of scrubs is that they stand up yo washing at 90’

I doubt I would notice as my head is up my backside most of the time.

Leonberger · 15/01/2021 20:34

I wear scrubs.

Don’t go near people Wink

BertieBotts · 15/01/2021 20:34

I’d think they must be cold, but then I feel cold more than others... So I would be envious and think how low their heating bill must be.

Would you actually think this, though? :o

CantStandMeow · 15/01/2021 20:35

Obviously you're on your way to jump the queue somewhere or get a pile of free Body Shop at home hand creams Wink

cupofteaplease1 · 15/01/2021 20:36

I wouldn't think anything, may not even notice. Can't believe some of the responses on here from judge a holes.

Thatwentbadly · 15/01/2021 20:39

I’m sorry you experienced this.

I would look at their face to see if it is my neighbour to wave at them.

I’d think;

A scrub is a guy that thinks he's fly
And is, also known as a buster
Always talking about what he wants
And just sits on his broke ass, so
No, I don't want your number
No, I don't want to give you mine and
No, I don't want to meet you nowhere
No, I don't want none of your time
And no, I don't want no scrub
A scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me
Hanging out the passenger side of his best friend's ride
Trying to holler at me
I don't want no scrub
A scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me
Hanging out the passenger side of his best friend's ride

And the rest of the song.

IDKNABYBIF22 · 15/01/2021 20:46

I'd immediately jump 5 metres back, just in case any stray covid particles tried to jump straight into my mouth or nose from your scrubs.

...sarcasm, obviously. I'd assume you were working in the community and needed petrol. I wear scrubs at work, and get changed before and after work, but it's more for public perception than covid infection control.

IDKNABYBIF22 · 15/01/2021 20:52

We have to take ours home to wash, you learn something new every day.

Were you not a teeny tiny bit tempted to have a little Professor Umbridge style cough?! Blush

trixiebelden77 · 15/01/2021 20:55

I think this is the sixth similar thread.

For the sixth time:

I’m an icu dr. We wear clean scrubs to work. We may go to the petrol station on the way to work. This may be at odd times as we don’t work 9-5 shuffling emails back and forth.

We may also stop on the way home from work. Again, in CLEAN scrubs as we change at work. Strangely, we don’t want to take covid or anything else we’re exposed to back to our families.

I am so so tired of this bullshit from truly nasty people. I get that you have a chip on your shoulder. It must be hard to sit through this doing a job that isn’t directly meaningful. But honestly a SINGLE MOMENT’S THOUGHT would have you given you a raft of reasons why you might see someone in scrubs daring to refuel their car.

In fact some of our staff stopped wearing scrubs to and from work because health care workers were spat on by people like you, or by the kind of people you encourage with your despicable efforts go encourage never is feeling towards health care workers.

If this pandemic is causing you to feel bitter then retrain and find actual meaningful employment.

trixiebelden77 · 15/01/2021 20:57

Wait you’re a healthcare worker?

Why are you posting these questions?

You must have seen the 8000 truly vile previous threads.

2BDIs · 15/01/2021 21:01

Not appropriate at all as medical staff are not allowed to wear scrubs or uniforms outside of hospital. The NHS take reports of staff wearing outside hospital setting quite seriously due to nasties on the uniform after a shift or by bringing disease and infection in before a shift
