Negative? Or ‘Meh. Not batting an eyelid’ ?

I went to the petrol station in scrubs on my way to work this morning and got a funny luck, genuinely thought this was about me haha

Iamuhtredsonofuhtred · 15/01/2021 17:12

I had to come home from work in (clean) scrubs as my food leaked all over my bag including my clothes. Sometimes people have their clothes stolen at work! It doesn’t mean they’re dirty. I’d never wear dirty scrubs outside the hospital

Ingleduh · 15/01/2021 17:14

My workplace wear scrubs for work, but we're not patient facing. So pose no more risk that someone going to a petrol station after work in a shirt and tie.

StoneofDestiny · 15/01/2021 17:20

Shame you weren't in a white coat to cart the rude woman off to seek realignment of her thinking process!

SpaceRaiders · 15/01/2021 17:23

Confused I’d think they were on their way home and kind my own business.

Maverickess · 15/01/2021 17:25

@Doublefaced

Am the scrubs wearer. Had a narky lady behind me in the queue today comment to the person beside her that it was a disgrace to see nurses in shops ‘in dirty clothes’

I didn’t have the heart to explain that I am community based in a specialist role covering approx 40 sq miles area, mainly rural, totally snowed under at the minute and ended up doing many, many more miles today than I anticipated due to some logistical issues. Not to mention the fact that I swear my car drinks petrol when I’m driving in snow.
It kinda stung at the time and interesting to see the opening responses on this thread before the tide kinda turned.
I just wish people were less bloody judgemental. Or bit their tongues.

"My hazmat suit is at the dry cleaners" Or "Oh, were you offering to pay for my petrol so I can get to my next patient so I don't have to stand here in my 'dirty nurses clothes' contaminating the place up? How kind!"

Though honestly you can't win with people like that. One of the community nurses that comes to us regularly has had the same and just ignored it too.

Just know you're appreciated by people with a bit of common sense.

💐

Haggertyjane · 15/01/2021 17:26

I had several pairs of scrubs at home for painting and decorating. Defunct nursing 'uniform' so would have gone in the bin.

Balhammom · 15/01/2021 17:27

Some of the idiotic responses on here make me despair.

Healthcare workers clearly know how to practice infection control. Receptionists, vets and various other jobs also wear scrubs. I really wouldn’t bat an eyelid.

warriorwomanx · 15/01/2021 17:29

Probably wouldn't notice or think anything tbf but I tend to mind my own business.

warriorwomanx · 15/01/2021 17:34

I'd just ignore her OP some people just love to moan/ hear the sound of their own voice Hmm

MyOwnPrivatePaddlingPool · 15/01/2021 17:52

This pisses me off tbh.

Loads wear scrubs such as vets and beauticians.

^this. Surely even the hard of thinkng realise not everyone who wears scrubs works in a hospital, or even with humans Confused

Terracottasaur · 15/01/2021 18:05

Not sure I’d think twice about it tbh. I’d assume they knew better than me if it was an issue.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 15/01/2021 18:10

I'd think "They probably work at the hospital" if I was even awake enough to notice.
Mint aero, you say? Good choice.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 15/01/2021 18:19

Probably wouldn't think much of it, although I have a 'thing' about men in scrubs or barrister's gowns, so likely I'd be a bit swooney, but that's probably not what this thread is about Blush

fucksanta1 · 15/01/2021 18:21

When I worked in the community we wore scrubs!

lovelemoncurd · 15/01/2021 18:22

They will be clean travel scrubs. Stop with the Covid police regimen targeted at hospital staff ffs!

cheninblanc · 15/01/2021 18:25

I once got soaking wet on my walk to work. I wasn't allowed to park in the staff car park as I lived within a 30 minute public transport journey in. So I used to park near the kids primary, drop them off and walk. One day I got so wet my underwear was wet so had to work in scrubs as admin. So I wouldn't judge, they could be in them for any reason

Niconacotaco · 15/01/2021 18:27

I work in a hospital in a non-patient facing role. I have had to wear scrubs more than once due to various mishaps with clothes.

MrsRosiieP · 15/01/2021 18:28

I never understood what the big deal is!
I’m an Australian nurse and we wear scrubs to and from work- we don’t change into ‘clean’ scrubs to travel and we don’t change into scrubs at work.
When I moved to Ireland I got told that I had to wear normal clothes to and from work.

Our scrubs don’t always get covered in body fluids and if they do, we have spares at work to change into.

Besom · 15/01/2021 18:30

Wouldn't think twice because as others have said they will either be spare ones that they will change or a community worker of some sort .

MadameButterface · 15/01/2021 18:31

It takes a special sort of person to be cunty to/about an nhs worker atm

Superstar22 · 15/01/2021 18:32

If I thought they were a HCP/ doctor Id be trying to exude warmth towards them for the wonderful job they’re currently doing whilst feeling sorry that they have no choice but to work in the current conditions.

In a socially distanced non stalker way

Sausagessizzling · 15/01/2021 18:33

Start clapping?

hulahooper2 · 15/01/2021 18:37

I hate to see this , very unhygienic

speakout · 15/01/2021 18:38

There are many types of "scrubs".

Operating theatre scrubs?Private nursing home? Nurses? Carers? Domestic staff in sheltered housing ?
Hard to tell in what capacity scrubs have been used.
Making tea for residents of a nursing home or open heart surgery.
