cyclingmad · 15/01/2021 21:32

@pointythings

I hope cycling is being paid well.
Lol that's your response cos I called out your BS yup you have no answer to me point it out to you that you seemingly are okay with state level execution but not federal and your only not okay about it cos its Trump doing it
AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 15/01/2021 21:34

Um... The Daily Mail? Isn't that the paper Wikipedia decided could no longer be quoted as a reliable source?

Ah yes, I thought so.
www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/feb/08/wikipedia-bans-daily-mail-as-unreliable-source-for-website

And for giggles, Dan and Dan:

cyclingmad · 15/01/2021 21:35

I mean I only call out the BS and obvious hypocrisy of some posters thats all, like the fake news about Trump laughing whilst people stormed the capital, some of you happily commenting about it but it was fake news lollll where are you now to admit it wasn't true ......

Nope nothing dont hear anything probably never will

At the very least if your gonna say stuff state facts and not fake news otherwise your part of the problem in spreading misinformation

In case this hasn't been posted. It's an excellent one Grin (A Closer look. Seth)

coffeeandbiscuittime · 15/01/2021 21:37

Borntobequiet - my user name begins with C - although only recently commenting I have followed these threads since 2016, after despairing of BREXIT in June and then Trump in Nov, I hope you are not lumping all with Cycling and Claig!😂🤣

NotaRealLawyer · 15/01/2021 21:38

Anyone hear anything further about Liz Chaney? I know that she was feeling the wrath of certain of the GOP after voting for impeachment.
It took courage to speak up as she did.

boatyardblues · 15/01/2021 21:39

@Gingaaarghpussy

121 threads and now someone is moaning.

At least it's not being posted here for traffic.

Don? Is that you? 😉
cyclingmad · 15/01/2021 21:40

Yup so typical, syart attacking the poster 🙄 cos you can't stick to the actual topic in hand. No surprise really.

So all of you so upset over federal execution where are you on state level execution? You know the ones that take place in bothe Democratic and Republican states????

Where are you about the fact federal execution has happened under both Democratic and Republican presidents?

Or isnjust because its Trump?

Be honest....

DuncinToffee · 15/01/2021 21:46

I am against the death penalty full stop

CaveMum · 15/01/2021 21:46

Re the death penalty. I feel in these moments when the “Kitty Dukakis” question is raised, the best answer comes from, of course, The West Wing

TOBY
[to Bartlet]... “I just mentioned your daughter being murdered, and you're giving us an answer that's not only soporific, it's barely human! Yes, you'd want to see him put to death. You'd want it to be cruel and unusual, which is why it's probably a good idea that fathers of murder victims don't have legal rights in these situations.”

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 15/01/2021 21:49

I'm also against the death penalty full stop.

In my (Democrat) state we got rid of it in 1887 by the way.

As I posted above, the death penalty is almost entirely a red state phenomenon. The Democrat party has an anti-death penalty platform at a federal and state level.

cyclingmad · 15/01/2021 21:53

@pointythings

cycling I am opposed to the death penalty in all circumstances. But once again you resort to whataboutery instead of answering a specific question.

Trump has triggered more federal executions in the final months of his presidency than any president in 100 years. It is convention to pause federal executions during a transition of power - Trump isn't doing that. So what is your opinion on that specific point? Come on, let's have a straight answer without any squirrels.

I'd also like to see your response to ZZTop's response about vaccinations, which clearly blows your Daily Mail article out of the water.

Whataboutery?

I see your back to making crap up about me. Is it even possible for you to actually communicate without making personal attacks on what you think I'm doing or thinking.

Nope don't think it is possible. Carry on as you please but until you cease making stuff about me I won't respond to you.

I don't speak to you and say your doing this or your resorting to that...I don't make it about you!

cyclingmad · 15/01/2021 21:55

Again its clear its not 100% republican as you say almost.

If under Trump its the most executed it doesn't take away from the fact that executions have taken place under both.

QuestionableDanceMoves · 15/01/2021 21:55

Delurking to say re the video of the Trumps dancing to “Gloria” last week.
Yes, posters did think it was while the Capitol was being stormed to begin with.
However, it was quite quickly retracted when we all realised it had been filmed before the rally.
It was discussed several times so @cyclingmad you’re barking up the wrong tree there

pointythings · 15/01/2021 21:56

I have already stated that I am opposed to the death penalty under all circumstances, but keep frothing by all means. Or maybe read the thread before replying?

I just think Trump is among the worst proponents of the death penalty because he is playing to his audience and executing people in large numbers without there being a need to do so. If you don't think that is a sickening thing to do, there's something wrong with you. And as I have said upthread, Trump has executed more people via the federal route than any president in the past 100 years.

So your going on about how Democratic states do it too is looking a bit misguided at best.

I'd respect you more if you just came straight out with it and admitted you are here as a big Trump supporter who hates the idea that he's going.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 15/01/2021 21:58

@pointythings

Good work, ZZTop. But no doubt cycling will take it as 'Democratic states are equally bad because they do some executions too. Maths not being their strong suit.
You called it Grin
BruceAndNosh · 15/01/2021 21:59
Lets do some fact checking on what some of you said in previous threads, there was some comments about how could he be laughing as people stormed the capitol...fact check says that's false

www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2021/01/11/fact-check-video-shows-trump-family-tent-before-jan-6-rally/6616490002/
Yes it WAS discussed, and if you bothered to check....
I - and several other regulars - pointed out that the clip of Trump and Co watching screens (and Kimberly Guilfoyle yelling Fight) was taken during the rally and not during the rioting.
So we DO fact check each other to try and maintain accuracy.

I admit this thread is biased against trump. Possibly this is because he has been a disaster as President and is also a dreadful human being

Delurking to distract from the derail.

Just spotted this:

mobile.twitter.com/jabinbotsford/status/1350186100564905985

Some mattress guy going to see Trump with a plan for martial law and who to install as head of CIA etc.

Is that all he has left? A pillow manufacturer?

cyclingmad · 15/01/2021 22:04

@ZZTopGuitarSolo

Oh he is already reneging on his election promises and he has even started lol shat happened to the $2000 checks he was promising and made them the center of his Georgia runoff elections , now its $1400. What else is he about to back down on...Will be interesting to see

We've already received $600 in December/January. The $1400 makes it up to the promised $2000.

Do try to keep up.

His campaign promise $2000 so that would be additional to whats already been received he didn't say on his election its a top up

Do try to keep up

pointythings · 15/01/2021 22:04

And cyclingmad you will no doubt take this as another personal attack, but it's intended as advice.

You don't seem to understand the concept of false equivalence. It would help lend weight to your arguments if you did.

On the Capitol invasion, you made the point that because a left wing person was identified as being present, the left therefore was as bad as the right on that occasion. That is false equivalence.

On the death penalty, it is clear that Democratic states use it far, far less than Republican states, as evidenced by ZZTop. Yet you state that 'they both do it, therefore they are as bad as each other'. Again, false equivalence.

Doing a bad thing is bad. Doing more of that bad thing is worse. This should be a simple thing to grasp. Trump does more of the bad things, therefore he is a worse person.

I often wonder how Trump sleeps at night. Help is at hand...
cyclingmad · 15/01/2021 22:05

I don't have a viewpoint where just because its only 2 vs 2000 that makes it okay.

Its either okay or it isn't
