He also is facing having his legal right to practice removed.

I thought disbarment didn't affect the ability to practise ?

It varies from state to state but generally a disbarred lawyer is prohibited from actually practicing law. In many states however they can teach or work in a law office in a capacity other than an actual lawyer.

I thought Rudy needs all the practise he can get ?

At least Rudie can't fail ...

@CaveMum

Sounds like everyone is on heightened alert. Of course in some ways they should be, but these kind of high pressure situations often have a tendency to boil over with unfortunate, and sometimes tragic, consequences.
I'm sure they are.

They're saying on NBC that it was a fire in a homeless encampment. You'd think they would have made a priority of finding shelter places for the homeless living within the security zone. They have to 'live' somewhere and they shouldn't just 'shoo them away' and finding them alternative accommodation during this week would be the right thing to do.

If you believe in the Simpson predictions a civil war was predicted on the back of an election 'being stolen' .. and if you look at whats happening you can see how it could come true...

RedToothBrush · 18/01/2021 16:26

Interesting. In response to the story on Guiliani saying No:

Maggie Haberman @maggieNYT
Giuliani, desperate to be a part of the defense in the senate impeachment trials Trump aides blame him for helping cause, won’t be part of the defense.

Here’s the problem: Trump currently has no lawyers on impeachment who can carry the effort. And he has a relationship with Giuliani. So let’s see where we are in a few days.

Rebecca Ballhaus @rebeccaballhaus
Some allies have also told Trump that he will need to take some responsibility for inciting the riot if he wants a serious lawyer to defend him, which he has indicated he doesn’t want to do.

Lweji · 18/01/2021 16:32

What happens if Trump isn't able to find a lawyer? Will he get a Senate appointed lawyer? If so, how is it chosen? By the majority party? That would be fun. He chooses from a range of lawyers? Are they forced to defend him? I have so many questions.

Lweji · 18/01/2021 16:33

Or would Trump be able to self-represent?

DGRossetti · 18/01/2021 16:33

lawyers on impeachment

Surely the poster child for niche ? How many impeachments are there in the US every year ?

Whatever, it will be argued up to SCOTUS. They might throw a conviction out if it was felt justice wasn't done (obviously justice matters if you're white).

@DuncinToffee

That police officer did the right thing, he got his colleagues out safely, even if it turns out he is a Trump supporter.
I agree.
Lweji · 18/01/2021 16:45

I was thinking that former law professor Clinton would have some experience of the process, but he's not likely to be able to practice. Perhaps he'll be able to indicate some names. After all, everyone is entitled to the best possible defense.

January seems to be Impeachment month these days.

John Eastman, the Law Professor standing next to Giulani when he made the Trial by combat speech, might be interested in the job.
(The guy dressed like Raymond Reddington from The Blacklist.)

This isn't accurate. They did a gag where Homer was too lazy to vote, so its implied Trump won a second term and everything went to shit.

DGRossetti · 18/01/2021 16:50

they can afford ...

Lweji · 18/01/2021 16:59

Well, a defense.

What can Trump afford?

(This is THE best question...)

DGRossetti · 18/01/2021 17:04

What can Trump afford?

I suspect that thus far he's lived like a medieval monarch and letting his supporters pick up the tab wherever possible ...

Arobase · 18/01/2021 17:36

@DGRossetti

following on from face/off
Loving the fact that poster says that Biden has the "sole of Trump". Are we talking fish here, one the sole of one foot?
AcrossthePond55 · 18/01/2021 17:55

I guess that if Scrotus can't find a lawyer then 'one will be appointed for him'. But I don't know if Miranda includes Senate trials.

Congress has all kinds of lawyers. I'm sure some GOP legislator will step up to bat. As in 'let this cup pass from me'.

Horribly fascinating.

Also on The Hill:

"A Pew Research Center poll released Friday found just 29 percent of Americans approve of the job Trump is doing in office."

"That survey followed others last week that showed Trump’s approval taking a dive in his final days in office. An ABC News-Washington Post poll pegged Trump’s approval rating at 38 percent, while a Quinnipiac poll out this week found him with just a 33 percent approval rating."

The last humiliation. Low ratings.
