Remember the conspiracy theory that: there was no moon landing, it was all filmed in a studio?

Have we spent days watching Extras riot on a set in Norfolk?

lionheart · 17/01/2021 23:03

Look at these cunning disguises in Michigan.

So they're trying to pretend they're not deranged insurrectionists and white supremacists, they've just popped along from BLM and Pride to do a spot of lovely American patriotism?

This is very long but worth a read. It pulls together how the movements developed, how they fit together, what they want and how they justify getting it.

He was there on Jan 6th, and also was at the Million MAGA March, the Michigan vote count, and various other events of the same ilk.

If there is more trouble (and I hope not) I'm guessing that any demonstrators will cover their faces this time. Not because of covid of course....

'WASHINGTON (AP) — Members of President Donald Trump’s failed presidential campaign played key roles in orchestrating the Washington rally that spawned a deadly assault on the U.S. Capitol, according to an Associated Press review of records, undercutting claims the event was the brainchild of the president’s grassroots supporters.

A pro-Trump nonprofit group called Women for America First hosted the “Save America Rally” on Jan. 6 at the Ellipse, an oval-shaped, federally owned patch of land near the White House. But an attachment to the National Park Service public gathering permit granted to the group lists more than half a dozen people in staff positions for the event who just weeks earlier had been paid thousands of dollars by Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign. Other staff scheduled to be “on site” during the demonstration have close ties to the White House.'

'U.S. president-elect Joe Biden has indicated plans to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline permit via executive action on his first day in office, sources confirmed to CBC News on Sunday.

A purported briefing note from the Biden transition team mentioning the plan was widely circulated over the weekend after being shared by the incoming president's team with U.S. stakeholders.

The words "Rescind Keystone XL pipeline permit" appear on a list of executive actions supposedly scheduled for Day 1 of Biden's presidency. '

Can't say for certain how much truth is here but it does say ''Boebert is the less intelligent, less well-spoken, further to the looney-right Sarah Palin.'

I really hope megaphone woman is Boebert's mum, as suggested. Boebert isn't "loony right", she is dangerous.

I wish I was shocked by this allegation.

Sadly I'm not Sad

CNN 'flash' on my phone, and I'm paraphrasing

Trump plans to issue 100 pardons on Tuesday. From the 'flash' it does not appear that he, his family members, or his 'close associates' are on the list.

AcrossthePond55 · 18/01/2021 02:23

Here's the article:

www.cnn.com/2021/01/17/politics/trump-pardons-expected/index.html

"The final batch of clemency actions is expected to include a mix of criminal justice reform-minded pardons and more controversial ones secured or doled out to political allies."

"The January 6 riots that led to Trump's second impeachment have complicated his desire to pardon himself, his kids and personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani. At this point, aides do not think he will do so, but caution only Trump knows what he will do with his last bit of presidential power before he is officially out of office at noon on January 20."

Furries · 18/01/2021 02:23

@AcrossthePond55 - just came on to post this too. Will be very interesting to see who is on the list.

Roussette · 18/01/2021 07:38

I don't understand much but one thing that really puzzles me greatly... how on earth can an impeached (I know it hasn't gone through the Senate, but it has the House) President still have powers to pardon hundreds of people?

Why isn't it written in the Constitution that whilst an Impeachment enquiry is ongoing, the likes of Pardons are suspended? Impeachment seems pretty toothless to me. It's just a word that doesn't impede Trump.

I hope Lauren Broebart gets her comeuppance. She gave out a statement flatly denying she gave tours before Jan 6th. If that is a lie, that's very serious.

Roussette · 18/01/2021 07:40

This might answer part of my question... I wonder who else he plans to pardon.

@RedToothBrush

Armed protesters have been reported in state capitols in Ohio, Michigan, Texas, Oregon.

2 dozen reported in Columbus, Ohio
twitter.com/VenturaReport/status/1350869092727717888
These guys look like armed miltia. They are calling themselves the Boogaloo Boys

Similar story in Michigan. Again group calling themselves Boogaloo Boys. But it is being reported they were only there for about half an hour.

In Oregon 7 appear to have turned up.

The Independent describes them as
The “Boogaloo Boys” are a loosely termed group of right-wing extremists who either expect or want to incite the “boogaloo,” a second American civil war. Many espouse openly white supremacist and neo-Nazi views. They are all staunchly pro-gun, and most of them are loyal supporters of Donald Trump.

It sounds like they are using this as an opportunity to try and recruit new members more than to cause trouble today (in part because they appear to be vastly outnumbered by security forces).

It sounds like there are some 6000 - 15000 people who share these views.

The boogaloo movement’s most extreme white supremacist element is ratcheting up calls for civil war.

Actually Boogaloo are anti government regardless of who is in power

The whole transition period does need to be reviewed IMO. Even if it stays at 10 weeks, or whatever, the outgoing administration should be limited on what it can do - no "new business", last minute appointments/laws etc unless they were already well down the pipeline. And maybe the list of pardons should be pre-prepared - ready to be submitted as soon as that transition period begins so there's time for review, some sort of accountability and acceptance.

pointythings · 18/01/2021 09:03

If you read the actual article about the Boogaloo Boys, you will see that they oppose lockdown, support gun ownership and are extreme libertarians. While it is true that BLM seems to have divided the group, overall they could reasonably be described as far right.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 18/01/2021 09:14

I don't understand this "if someone did give tours" mystery. Don't they have CCTV in The Capitol?! Check the tapes FFS and have done with it.
