To think that the other mothers could have been a bit more sympathetic?

Took dd to a party yesterday at McDonalds, from 11 to 12.30. Once party was in full swing in party room I went and got myself lunch. Now I should explain, I'm three months pregnant and am having really bad problems with my blood sugar, I've been advised to eat five/six times a day to stop my blood sugar dipping too low. So given that I'd had breakfast at 7.30 I was getting a bit shaky by 11.00 so thought I'd have an early lunch. McDonalds wouldn't have been my first choice but we were there and it's a McDonalds in the middles of nowhere so it's not like I could go anywhere else. All the other mothers acted as though I was so stupid, needing food and laughing at me when I explained I need to eat so often. I mean wtf? I'm pregnant and not terribly well with it. They are all mothers, would a bit of understanding be too much to ask for. One of them was quite rude about me eating, saying that I just saying I had to eat so I could be greedy. Sorry, bit long, but I'm fed up. I mean, what's so wrong with eating an early lunch anyway? I hate the fact that you're expected to go along to these parties and not eat anything!

oh my gosh, YANBU! I have the same thing, feel shaky etc. if not eaten for a few hours, and then others accuse me of being greedy for wanting to eat something (esp. as I am now breastfeeding - others around me bottlefeed so they don't understand)..I would be furious.

also recall at that stage of pregnancy NEEDING to eat immediately if I felt sick.. used to eat about three breakfasts in the mornings - before work, on train, and at work
always kept crackers and dried fruit and nuts in my desk at work to munch throughout the day (which, incidentally, is how they worked out I was pg )

Say 'No!' to the food Nazis :-)

What's greedy about having lunch early or otherwise? And whether you have low blood sugar or not? You really don't have to justify your eating to anyone.

Yes, the other mums should have been a bit more sympathetic but they don't sound very bright to me either.

I'd put their comments down to either stupidity, jealousy or downright bitchiness. None of which should trouble you anymore.
