Just seen a post on FB where people are talking about a scene from a film/TV series that has stuck in their minds.....seeing some of them has brought back some pretty scary memories.

Mine is the scene from Salems Lot where the vampire floats up to the window, taps on it and rasps "let me in".

Took me years after that to look out the window in the dark Hmm
Does anyone else have "fond" memories??

@LisaLops

I'm haunted by Watership Down. All I can remember is a raggedy injured rabbit and fields turning red. I think that film is disturbing 😩
Oh god yes, this and Tarka the otter did me in at age 6!

@Whattodoffs

The window scene in Salem's lot frightened me so much, my mother tied 2 of her crochet hooks into a cross that I put on my window sill for years.....

..... but I also hated the jail scene, when the guy just suddenly sits up. WTF??

fatchilli123 · 14/01/2021 17:54

Donald Sutherland . Kelly's hero's . Coming out the bridge tunnel, firing paint, barking like a dog with loud speaker playing really loud musicGrin

Sissyjd · 14/01/2021 18:12

Ooh couple scenes from The Twilight Zone where this chap looks out of plane window to see a demon thing on the wing when he opens blind and looks out again its right at the window!! And the scary Jack in the box monster rabbit thing...horrible ShuddersBlushShock

MadameBoulaye · 14/01/2021 18:15

You’ve now reminded me of when I watched The Omen aged 11 at a friends house early one evening. OMG ... scariest film ever! That scene where the priest looks at the church and a branch is blown off a tree and spears him! I then had to cycle home at dusk along spooky tree-lined roads, looking at the tops of the trees which were just like in the film, hoping that wasn’t going to happen to me! Really can’t ever watch that movie again. It still haunts me now! Closely followed by the “open the window” vampire scene in the Lost Boys! Some great reminders here!!! Thanks! Good question though. Smile

I've been watching a ton of horror films lately. I was watching The Amityville Haunting (one of the lesser sequels, there are over 20) and there was a scene where the lights went off. The dad and son went to sort them, with the female family members chatting. The lights suddenly came back on, but that didn't scare me. It was a couple of minutes later I noticed a ghost standing behind the mum and for some reason that made me jump right then even though he'd been there since the lights came on! I even went back to the lights coming on to check

Elfblossom · 14/01/2021 18:18

THIS - Salem Lot where it floats up to the window, taps on it and rasps "let me in".!!!

My parents were odd, never put me to bed, instead I'd 'sleep' on the sofa 'til they went to bed then I'd be carried up and put into my bed.

This meant I saw a fair bit of unsuitable tv if I woke up... the worst being the above and a Hammer House of Horror film called 'The House that bled to death' ... WTH!

It's the church spire that spears him after a lightning strike. I actually think the decapitation of the photographer is the worst scene

I was watching Gogglebox a few months ago and they showed a clip from the new IT film.

When I watched the first one as a teen it messed with my head (Tim Currys big grin still reminds me of his IT character to this day!). Have never watched the new one however.

I saw a few gruesome clips of the new one on GB, but the one that stuck with me the most, was where a young boy was at a fairground and went into a hall of mirrors. Desperately trying to be stopped by one of the main characters.

He gets trapped between the glass and you see IT, come up the window behind him licking the glass. Then he starts swinging forward bashing his head on the glass until he smashes through and devours this poor kid with his big teeth, all whilst this poor other chap is watching helplessly.

I went to bed super anxious and that scene was stuck in my head for weeks!!

purplebunny2012 · 14/01/2021 18:24

@Tubs11

The "ghost" from three men and a little baby. Threw the remote across the room and didn't turn on the TV for weeks
Oh dear, it was just a cardboard cut out!
purplebunny2012 · 14/01/2021 18:27

@Whattodoffs

Does anyone remember the programme Supernatural? I think it was the first episode and it showed their mother pinned to the ceiling surrounded in what I think was fire and that'a how they got into fighting spirits etc. Never watched any of the other episodes as that was enough for me lol
I am a massive fan and seen every episode now its finished. Have all but the last 2 seasons on blu-ray
misskatamari · 14/01/2021 18:29

Omg @kwiksavenofrillsusername the wheelers!! They were utterly terrifying! Return to Oz has got to be one of the scariest "kids" films ever made!

Carrying on the Stephen King theme from the OP, the original Pet Sematary film scared me sooo much as a kid! (Obviously I shouldn't have been bloody watching it, thanks Mum 🤣🙈). Zelda from that still scares the shit out of me!

Littlepurpledragon · 14/01/2021 18:30

So with you OP with Salem's lot. I was very young and it frightened the crap out of me!
But the one that sticks in my mind was Amityville
Freaked me out big time! Cant listen to the music coz it would give me chills. I have thought I should watch it and overcome my fears in hope it may look lame in comparison to today's films but I can't!!!!

purplebunny2012 · 14/01/2021 18:32
@Andylion - I think OP mentioned it being shown as part of scenes that didn't make make the final cut, I'm certain it wasn't in the original version. I don't think I want to see it now. If I remember in the book and I could be wrong as I was only a teenager when I last read it, the mother sees her as walking like a spider. Terrifying.
Yeah, they cut that scene out

windysocks · 14/01/2021 18:34

@Whattodoffs

This is the scene I'm on about
I was terrified watching this as a kid. I showed it to my kids ( teens) and they laughed and said they could see the strings ! I still think its scary 😧
purplebunny2012 · 14/01/2021 18:36
@Prettybubblesintheair , no, this one is from 1980. I have been searching for it for years and recently found it available on one of the extensions subscriptions via Prime. I think it is called Shudders. I almost got a subscription just to watch The Changeling, but I was too afraid. Grin
Shudder. It's £1.99 A month for 3 months at the moment.
Highly recommended Host if you like them scary. And Vivarium if you like weird

purplebunny2012 · 14/01/2021 18:49

@Winterwoollies

Someone may have mentioned this but the awful, awful tree rape scene from The Evil Dead. I was young when I saw it and it was just so wrong.
Sam Raimi regretted that scene afterwards
purplebunny2012 · 14/01/2021 18:51

@GoldenLabbie

Ghostwatch. The whole bloody thing terrified me, I thought it was real and still can’t believe my parents let me stay up and watch it.
We missed the message at the beginning that it was fake and we stopped about half way through. I have still not ever seen the end with a possessed Parkie

@MyGazeboisLeaking

Ooh. Just remembered TV show 'Sapphire & Steel'. Psycho detective drama.

You probably have to be 50+ to have watched it.

One episode - people 'trapped' within photographs. Photos set fire to / burned on a candle. People 'within ' burned too.
Stuck with me for 40+ years.

Nope, I'm in my early 40's and it is one of my favourite shows. It's on YouTube but I have them on DVD
Mydoghasbettereyebrowsthanme · 14/01/2021 18:58

I used to work nights at a warden assisted place for the elderly and vulnerable and had to walk around the building regularly through the night. The PP who mentioned about the long corridors is exactly what this place was at night- long corridors with doors either side and the whole place was deadly quiet except for the intermittent swooshing of the fire doors. God it was scary !! Blinking Shining has a lot to answer for !!!

roxanne119 · 14/01/2021 18:59

I don’t know the film but it is responsible for me never buying a used mirror because they might store a murderer in them . A horror film I watched when growing up I’m in my fifties 😳I know it’s not rational

CrankyFrankie · 14/01/2021 19:00

The bit where Kathy Bates bashes the writer’s ankles in. My Dad let me sit through it after Brownies one eve (until this part, when I started crying 🤣) - still can’t watch it to this day!

I am suspicious of fog. Always. And now I even live by the sea, not in inland country😂 Damn you Carpenter!
