Scrolling through dog adverts and I came across this

www.pets4homes.co.uk/classifieds/2942042-visual-fluffys-french-bulldog-kc-puppies-bedlington.html#

Is this a joke or a typo? The description says it’s a very very rare kind of dog, but seriously?

YANBU - ridiculous price for a dog ?

YABU- This dog is worth it?

How do you figure that? Horse had a really good record and competed very successfully with her.

hilariousnamehere · 10/01/2021 21:44

God if I was rich I'd buy her to give her a good life with no pregnancies :(

Childrenofthestones · 10/01/2021 21:47

Perhaps it shits gold nuggets.🤔

Foreverlexicon · 10/01/2021 21:48

@Notworking123 Hardly! Talented, high level competition horses can go for much much more than that!

Vinorosso74 · 10/01/2021 21:49

Crazy, I wonder how many pups the poor mum has had. The seller is in my mum's hometown and I don't imagine many people in the immediate area would have that money available.

ZaraTheWonderDog · 10/01/2021 22:02

People really are disgusting.

xbambi · 10/01/2021 22:02

The ad subject states “visual fluffy” which a quick google tells me is a rare type of fluffy french bulldog so I’m guessing that, coupled with the lockdown price surge which is seeing pups for going for 3x their usual value is to blame. Really sad.

Whatisthisfuckery · 10/01/2021 22:13

When I see anyone out with one of these flat faced dogs who you can hear from 20 yards away struggling to breathe I want to go up and fucking pin them down and hold their mouth and nose closed. I judge people who buy these pups, I judge them really fucking hard.

Leannethom85 · 10/01/2021 22:19

I know someone who bought a pedigree dog, they then bought another pedigree dog thinking it would be cute if they had some puppies, the dogs had zero interest in each other at all and didn't mate. So the person took the female to the vets to see if she was OK, turns out she was fine just she was also a he. It's a pity more dogs weren't both sexes it save them being bred to death and serve alot of owners rights that only use their dogs for breeding to earn money

MrsMiaWallis · 10/01/2021 22:22

Awful amateurish photos and the dog is badly bred anyway.

17500 for a high level competition horse these days? I'd want to know what was wrong with it!

Serin · 10/01/2021 22:29

My cousin regularly sells trained working sheepdogs for £10k but they are highly trained working dogs and they are his world. He is well known and well respected in sheepdog circles.
I wonder if the owner of the bulldog pays tax on their little earner?

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 10/01/2021 22:30

Unless the parents won crufts that is a ridiculous price.

If the parents did win crufts you are still ridiculous for paying that.

I would want my puppy fully house trained and able to load the dishwasher for that price Grin

Thewinterofdiscontent · 10/01/2021 22:30

It’s had nearly 2,000 views all of a sudden.
Owner will be delighted or panic.

They only have3 or 4 puppies. That’s a lot of litters to make your money back. Disgusting.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 10/01/2021 22:31

These were often £6,000- 8,000 before lockdown - the "unusual" colours eg lilac

Ironically, these non-standard colours can only be produced by introducing another breed into the mix. Somewhere, back in the line, there is a different breed of dog altogether, masked in the mists of the pedigree.

Bluntness100 · 10/01/2021 22:32

That site is infamous, there are a lot of scammers and puppy farms on there.

Lastbonestanding · 10/01/2021 22:34

£17,500 for a dog. Go on then, I'll take two.

They'll not get it. They are being ridiculous.

I have a flat faced dog you can hear breathing a mile off. We rescued him aged three.

Would you pin me down and hold your hand mover my mouth? Hmm

GeorgiaGirl52 · 10/01/2021 22:41

They likely will get that price.
Even puppy farm Frenchies are selling in the US for $5000-7000.

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 10/01/2021 22:52

Someone asked what is it about Frenchies-they’re soft, dopey and love a cuddle...I think that’s what a lot of it is.

I have a Frenchie cross (Jack Russell). She’s bloody lovely...it was an accidental cross, and we paid £300 for her in early 2019...so not advertised as some designer pup or anything.

Unfortunately until there are laws put in place to stop the puppy farms then there is always going to be people out to make money.

DdraigGoch · 10/01/2021 22:53
@Pikoty

Really? Are you honestly advocating pet ownership for the financially privileged?
Have you seen how much vet bills can add up to? Prospective owners ought to know what they are letting themselves in for. This breeder is obviously a greedy bastard though who probably doesn't care where the dog ends up, so long as he gets a new car.

Cherrysoup · 10/01/2021 22:57

I know a woman who basically makes her living from breeding cats and dogs. When I found out, I stopped speaking to her. I hate that people just see £ signs when they buy an animal with a uterus.

Frozenintime · 10/01/2021 22:58

So many dogs in shelters but breeding is allowed to continue

LondonMiss · 10/01/2021 23:16

It appears it may have the fluffy DNA these seem to go for crazy money! I hate seeing breeders ask for 18 month old females it’s obvious why!! Angry. We have a top quality female we could never part with her!

QuestionableMouse · 10/01/2021 23:17

@DdraigGoch this is why I pay for pet insurance every month.
