Sending child to school even though she's a Foster carer

Ok am I being unreasonable?

I know someone who is a Foster carer (stays at home all day, everyday, know this as I am close with her). Should she really be sending her Foster child to school when she could easily home school the child herself?

@Darkbloom

Ok... thanks for all your comments. I asked if it was being unreasonable - I'm putting myself out there, I dont expect the rudeness that some of you guys have given. I asked a question not killed somebody. Ok I have my answer, I am being unreasonable. Cheers 🍻
Don't spit your dummy out.

You came onto a notoriously robust part of the forum and asked a shitty question.

NotYourReindeer · 08/01/2021 13:32

I did read the thread and her acceptance was more of a petulant teenager than a grown adult.

HTH.

Hankunamatata · 08/01/2021 14:16

The child is in care. Very few children in care dont have some form of additional needs due to circumstances around having to be fostered. The child may need the stability that school brings.

Thehop · 08/01/2021 14:19

A looked after child should be in school.

Though there are children in my sons school attending and have a mum at home on maternity leave. Which I think is crazy.

catatecheese · 08/01/2021 14:26

of course that child should be in school. They count as vulnerable.
Honestly people need to drop this subject as this post just shows how truly ignorant people can be. Honestly I despair.

Help what?

Stompythedinosaur · 08/01/2021 14:59

Of course she should, if that's whats best for the dc! Looked after children are at a huge disadvantage so should get extra help.

GandalfTheNoble · 08/01/2021 15:15

It is expected that all LAC are in school. Its very much frowned upon to keep them off school.

Willow2017 · 08/01/2021 16:16

Did you just pick a random theme to do with vilifying parents and vulnerable kids op?
That must be the reason because its obviously dont know the mum very well at all as you know sfa about fostering and vulnerable children going through the care system.

What a nasty post.

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 08/01/2021 16:20

I hate the way this pandemic has brought out this desperation to catch people out in a crime when a moment of research would tell you that what's happening is perfectly OK.

peak2021 · 08/01/2021 16:20

Yes OP you are, as others have given reasons.

amijustparanoidorjuststoned · 08/01/2021 16:20

Mind your own business.

movingonup20 · 08/01/2021 16:22

They are explicitly listed as allowed to attend as are adopted children

Chimeraforce · 08/01/2021 16:23

Looked after children are vulnerable as they've normally suffered trauma, upheaval maybe abuse. So it's usually in their own interests to keep the continuity that school life provides.
Personally I think non LAC also need this but sadly they're being forgotten in all this.

Edgeoftheledge · 08/01/2021 16:23

Foster children are on the approved list

Clackyheels · 08/01/2021 19:54

YABU for all the reasons stated by others above
