To think this is a bloody brilliant idea?!

Just that, really. Once Covid is over, I know what I'll be doing....

The replaced family picture thing. Does anyone remember that?

Family photos at parents house. Someone secretly took one of the pics of a family member out of it's frame on the wall, and replaced it with a picture of Kim Jon-un. Apparently it took about 3 months for their mum to notice ...

One day DH and i will do this to his parents. It's a long game, but so worth it GrinGrin

picklemewalnuts · 07/01/2021 21:10

That would actually upset me- I know it's funny, but I'd think I was losing it if things kept turning up!

CandyLeBonBon · 07/01/2021 21:10

I have too many books and not enough friends!!!

MrsEricBana · 07/01/2021 21:10

One random stripey sock in the wash box ...

Arobase · 07/01/2021 21:11

Don't you dare do it at my house, sadly you'd get away with it.

My mum does this to me. She updates the picture I have of my dc and their cousins all together and waits to see how long it takes us to notice its been changed. Grin I might add Kim Jon to her photo wall
Lockdownlovernotfromliverpool · 07/01/2021 21:13

Could I hide a small dc? Ds is doing my head in. A small 11 yo surely would be easily disguised in a bookcase?

c75kp0r · 07/01/2021 21:13

This is great. I now have an explanation for random items. I was totally baffled at where a pair of fancy knickers appeared from. (I normally wear granny ones). I really had no recollection of seeing them before until I realised they exactly matched a bra I had been wearing for ages.

I must have bought a set and forgot that detail.
Now I can live happily in the knowledge that Truly simply dropped them off.

Trulyatraditionalman · 07/01/2021 21:16

But why is it always lacy knickers found on the MN threads, and never men's boxers..?!

ImNotWhoYouThinkIam Please do it. The bitter sweet aspect of knowing what you've done, but also knowing it's unlikely that you'll be present for the perfect moment when they spot it ...

Grin
EmJay19 · 07/01/2021 21:18

Lol a lol a lol.
Can’t wait to start 🤣🤣🤣

Puzzledandpissedoff · 07/01/2021 21:19

I have to admit this has really, really annoyed me

..... because I didn't think of it myself Grin

Calmate · 07/01/2021 21:22

This is a really mischievious idea, the opposite of a burglary ! Grin

ancientgran · 07/01/2021 21:23

As someone with a hoarder for a husband I could cry at the thought of people dumping more stuff on me. I spend my life trying to limit the chaos and confine it to certain rooms/garage/shed.

Groovee · 07/01/2021 21:24

I love this idea. I normally move my SIL's ornaments around 😂

Brilliant idea.

ancientgran · 07/01/2021 21:25

DH shaved his beard off sometime in the last 10 days, I suddenly noticed it yesterday. The funny thing is I hated the beard so you'd think I'd have noticed.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 07/01/2021 21:26

Genius and funny Grin

MaelyssQ · 07/01/2021 21:27

We've been doing a version of this for years in my family. The item in question is a spectacularly hideous turquoise and orange patterned vase with knobbly bits painted with glittery stuff. It was originally a wedding present for my older sister and her husband, from a great auntie, since deceased. It's not very big, and can be secreted in an overnight bag without any problem, and has worked its way round the entire extended family, usually left on a shelf somewhere and filled with flowers.

Covid has stopped play however and we have been stuck with the monstrosity since last Christmas.

Trulyatraditionalman · 07/01/2021 21:27

I'm quite tempted to offload an old tube of canesten to MIL's bathroom cupboard...

I often dream about doing this but in a public building. Back at the office I would try to think of the best places to hide something and then how to come back 20 years later to pick it up. All without anyone noticing.

Member984815 · 07/01/2021 21:36

I've done it , they didn't notice until someone snitched

longtompot · 07/01/2021 21:37

I think someone has already done this to us. The summer after we moved into our new house I found a silver baby's rattle on the floor next to one of our sofas. No idea where it came from. The house was completely empty when we moved in. We didn't change the locks so it could have been the previous owner 🤔

EmmaGrundyForPM · 07/01/2021 21:40

Someone i know claims he does a version of this with Alexa.

Waits til Alexa owner is out of the room and then says "Alexa, every Wednesday at 8.03pm say "John, did you remember to wash behind your ears today?" or something equally as stupid and ruder

He says by 8.05 whatever friend he's done this to has usually texted him to accuse him of buggering around with Alexa
