Surely 'inciting civil war' is reason enough for twitter to shut it down? Fucking hell.

tobee · 06/01/2021 23:17

"But thank good ness some of his mates are drawing a line here."

Not enough. Not nearly soon enough. They should all be on trial for incitement.

mathanxiety · 06/01/2021 23:19

There are now calls (including from federation of manufacturing industry) for Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment.

The procedure would normally take longer than the two weeks that are left in this extraordinary term but it could be railroaded through if things get really rough tonight and (1) the people now gathered in DC look as if they are well organised and (2) Trump doesn't immediately condemn them.

orangecinnamon · 06/01/2021 23:20

@longwayoff

Oh, here we go. Guy bring interviewed on radio speculating that disturbances caused by infiltrators like antifa and so on. Mass eye roll please.
The guy in the Jamiroquai style headgear is well know far right /QAnon crazy activitist type Jake Angeli. They have no evidence of antics involvement but they just repeat/make up shit so they can all spread it around! It really is crazy times

Antifa not antics

mathanxiety · 06/01/2021 23:21

Also, the Pres was visibly left out of the loop that included Milley (Chmn Joint Chiefs of Staff) and Pence in calling out the DC National Guard.

GW Bush and Biden both calling this an insurrection.

DeRigueurMortis · 06/01/2021 23:22

@mathanxiety

Some 'objector' Senators now meeting in a room separately from the rest of House and Senate.

GW Bush harshly condemning them all.

So I wonder what their move will be when the proceedings resume?

Double down?

They can't pretend anymore that their antics protect democracy surely?

Roussette · 06/01/2021 23:22

What is the fucking point of a curfew if there are hundreds of them still there wandering around?

When it was BLM march they started arresting people after the curfew

Was the curfew just a suggestion?

Apparently they are calling themselves 'revolutionaries' hahahaha

mathanxiety · 06/01/2021 23:24

DC Police force walking forward in loose lines (not tight formation) in some places, moving people in directions they want them to go. DC National Guard are equipped with riot shields.

The DC Police are well practiced in this sort of action.

mathanxiety · 06/01/2021 23:26

Well clearly, angry white men get the benefit of the doubt.

It's The American Way.

Roominmyhouse · 06/01/2021 23:27

The police are pushing the remaining people back to disperse them now. Still feel like they won't go quietly.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 06/01/2021 23:27

I wonder how many are armed? If they marched into the Capitol building I assume some in there are armed too?

DeRigueurMortis · 06/01/2021 23:27

I rather liked this tweet:

@davidhogg111

If Mike Pence is waiting for a “ sign from Jesus “ this is fucking it.

Invoke the 25th amendment.

Senator Jeff Merkley (State of Oregon)

Electoral college ballots rescued from the Senate floor. If our capable floor staff hadn’t grabbed them, they would have been burned by the mob t.co/2JCauUIlvg

Rep Mullin on NBC (from Oklahoma) saying that people are responsible for their behaviour - and not putting any blame on Trump.

And still says he might protest over an unfair election.

And saying there's been rhetoric on both sides.

chomalungma · 06/01/2021 23:30

Senator Mitt Romney condemned the events of today, describing the storming of the Capitol as “an insurrection, incited by the President of the United States.”

mathanxiety · 06/01/2021 23:30

CBS reporting that Acting Sec of Defence, National Security Adviser, and VP Pence now bypassing the Pres.

Speaker Pelosi hoping to get the business of the House wrapped up tonight.

Romney statement asking politicians to show allegiance to the Constitution, not Trump.

The woman who was shot has died

Mypathtriedtokillme · 06/01/2021 23:31

I’m horrified by the amount of children at the under minding of America’s democracy.
Like the parents have taken them for a nice family day out of violence.

oakleaffy · 06/01/2021 23:32

A young woman was shot dead. People are saying she was possibly pregnant, as it looked like pregnancy wear[?]
She looked very young, and wish I'd not seen the footage on twitter.

Whatever the rights and wrongs, young people can do rash things.

MedusasBadHairDay · 06/01/2021 23:32

Heard that, all his talk of "agitators" sounded like he was trying to suggest that people had infiltrated in order to make them look bad
Sandalison · 06/01/2021 23:33

Loads of Trump tweets just been deleted by Twitter

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 06/01/2021 23:34

Dysfunctional!
Civil war?

DuncinToffee · 06/01/2021 23:35

House Democrat majority Whip confirms that certification of the presidential election result will continue tonight.

James E Clyburn @WhipClyburn

I have faced violent hatred before

I was not deterred then, and I will not be deterred now.

Tonight, Congress will continue the business of certifying the electoral college votes.
