To think accountancy isn't a "keyworker" job?

One of the parents at school is a self employed accountant who works from home, but sending kids into school. The other parent works out of the home (not a key worker) how is this allowed? Claims to be an essential worker (doesn't work for the nhs or anything, just accounts for small businesses)

Reasons why working from home with confidential data may be highly unadvisable -- especially unacceptable security levels.

There are lots of articles about that online.

Agree if they restrict to much who can use a key space it will lead to people using elderly relatives, neighbours, students, other school mums etc as childcare. The poster who made point about lots of nurses etc being lower paid half of the relationship so if push comes to shove and there’s no childcare for 2 parent families you will prioritise the job that brings in the most income is correct. It really isn’t as black and white as only frontline medical need a place.

I reckon it will just lead to more women exiting the work place.

It will most certainly lead to this. In fact, the evidence from the first lockdown showed exactly this.

Of course it will. How could it be otherwise?

@Chaotic45 @tigger1001 @Kazzyhoward it reads that there will be a simplified process to file for an extension before a penalty is issued (rather than appeal after?).
If it’s true then hopefully they will make an official announcement very soon

If the accountant can work from home then their kids should be home and not at work. Everyone could say their job is important and then the schools are full!
