Because I can't cope with all the 'this will never end, this will be life forever now, it's going to last until 2023/24'.

I've honestly realised that no where else social media wise is so doom and gloom. There really doesn't seem to be this complete end of the world sentiment anywhere else other than on here.

I have always loved coming on here and reading and contributing to threads but I honestly don't think I can anymore. My mental health and anxiety is becoming considerably worse from being here.

Is anyone else feeling this way?

From what I've seen on my SM / speaking to people in my life I mean.

Yes. I’m a teacher and I’ve had enough of trying to defend myself. I should have left yesterday but Boris has tempted me back.

HazeyJaneII · 05/01/2021 00:12

Yes.
I left in March, when it was making me feel dreadful. I came back, as it seemed to have settled down a bit. It's making me want to chew my arm off at the moment, so probably time for a break.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 05/01/2021 00:14

It would be better if ALL threads about COVID, including this one, stayed on the Corinavirus board so that people, including you OP, could avoid it!

@MNHQ can you moderate this more fiercely? Would it help?

PersonaNonGarter · 05/01/2021 00:15

If you think you will take it too much to heart then do. It’ll still be here when you come back.

I very nearly completely cut ties over the MN Brexit hysteria. It was just too much. Sometimes people just want catastrophe a lot. It’s wearing.

megletthesecond · 05/01/2021 00:15

Oh no. I wouldn't have any company if I wasn't on here.

You're right. It spills over far too much onto the other boards. This included so I'm a hypocrite but I honestly can't even go on the CV board anymore.

Oh yes, all the time... I have been feeling like this for the last 12 years... I leave and Back in 2 weeks Blush

KarmaNoMore · 05/01/2021 00:19

But YANBU, take a time off. I’m no longer reading the Guardian for the same reason.

ilovesooty · 05/01/2021 00:21

If it adversely affects you it might be wise to do that. Everyone needs to look after themselves the best they can. I have to admit people's reactions to stuff on here in terms of doom and gloom don't have much effect on me, though everyone's different.
However watching Boris Johnson waffling and smirking at the nation was beginning to make me very angry and I've resolved to limit my exposure to him as the effect he has on me isn't doing me any good.

notangelinajolie · 05/01/2021 00:21

I agree. There are endless threads of nothing but anger, negativity and doom on mumsnet at the moment. I don't see this in real life.

tobee · 05/01/2021 00:23

Everyone welcome at the Good News thread! Leave your doom at the door please!

Some of the mods do move threads but there is one that thinks they encourage discussion and therefore 'will leave it where it is' which has driven me away a couple of times because why have a board for Corona virus and not move the bloody threads on it when they are spread all over the other boards?

Like Mutant Covid Threads Shock

Itiswhatitis88 · 05/01/2021 00:41

I've been MN stalking since lockdown and finally just joined up as I couldn't bite my lip on another subject.

I honestly think everything is doom and gloom and its best to live in your own bubble and not get wrapped up in other people's belligerence.

You will feel much better if you get away from it all, even if its a break. I've been off social media since 2016 and never felt much happier, even though I have done a little social media stalking, ots much easier to get away from when you don't have accounts.

Anyway this is my last post, I will disappear back into my world 🌎

cyclingmad · 05/01/2021 00:46

Its not even just covid threads, it general viewpoint of mumsnetters putting me off. The ageism, woman bashing, man bashing, government bashing unless its Labour of course.

The parents who screech for schools to close cos its not safe are now screeching about how will they homeschool and their kids miss education...yet the ironic thing is they are u-turning more than they say Boris is.

Its the hypocrisy, the lack of empathy that not everyone is middle class can afford to be survive lockdown after lockdown, its the rule breaking

I'm definitely on verge of just cutting myself off it which isn't a bad thing

Deadringer · 05/01/2021 01:06

This place is keeping me sane. I don't read many of the coronavirus threads, so that helps.

LagunaBubbles · 05/01/2021 01:14

but I honestly can't even go on the CV board anymore

So don't its not compulsory, I've never been on that board. But if you think being on MN is damaging then of yourself yanbu to come off it. But I suspect you don't really want to otherwise you would just have done it.

DeeCeeCherry · 05/01/2021 01:16

Yes. MN and local community forums are the pits. Particularly, if you feel down and anxious much of it needs to be swerved

AcornAutumn · 05/01/2021 01:16

No

I can't see anyone

MN is my company.

OhCaptain · 05/01/2021 01:16

You can just go. It’s not an airport, you don’t have to announce your departure.

cyclingmad · 05/01/2021 01:17

The point is its not just confined to the CV area, its in chat, aibu etc.
jessstan1 · 05/01/2021 01:17

No, there are plenty of other threads, you don't have to look at the coronavirus ones.

Totallydefeated · 05/01/2021 01:19

I’m finding I’m feeling quite depressed after spending time on here, where usually it’s a bit of me time, to chill out with. The trouble is that if you don’t look at the virus threads, you’re not left with much else of interest at the moment, apart from maybe the odd relationship thread. I want a nice juicy parking or CF neighbour thread to follow.

DeeCeeCherry · 05/01/2021 01:20

The problem is also that Covid discussions and commentary are shoehorned into everything. Some are singularly determined for Covid discussions not to be solely on Covid board, they crave to be heard elsewhere. Covid vigilantes.
