Really Intense Moisturiser For Sore Face

QuiteGood · 04/01/2021 20:34

Currently suffering with red, sore skin on face; mainly around mouth and under nasal folds. It's caused by being out in the freezing cold and probably the central heating too. It's unsightly and painful.

Can any recommend a speedy, healing balm?

The unreasonable part is...am I unreasonable for using Aibu for traffick?

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer is very soothing and gentle. It's saved my skin this winter.

Vitaminsss · 04/01/2021 20:36

Eucerin aquaphor

Or a generic eczema moisturiser, I like boots own brand. Layer the aquaphor on top, and use it as an overnight mask too

shouldistop · 04/01/2021 20:36

Aveeno is great

Octenicare repair creme. I tried it as part of an MN trial and loved it.

I have used this for years and rate it, but don’t think it’s enough for OP’s skin

La Roche-Posay cicaplast baume. It's miraculous, especially with frequent application. Also always on offer at places like Escentual, Feel Unique etc.

Asitgoes · 04/01/2021 20:41

Look up seborrhoeic dermatitis just to make sure it is just dry from cold etc rather than this

AmandaHugenkiss · 04/01/2021 20:42

I’m sure I’ll have people say it’s totally unsuitable, but I use Norwegian formula concentrated hand cream on my face when I get terrible dry patches from the cold. Been doing it every winter for years and it works miracles!

Sexnotgender · 04/01/2021 20:42

I love astral in the big blue tub.

ShouldHaveCouldHaveWouldHave · 04/01/2021 20:43

Cicaplast Baume is really good. Boots Good Skin range do an overnight Cica paste which soothes my sore skin after a day in the wind. It’s usually on offer too.

OrangeVelour · 04/01/2021 20:43

I use this Cerave one for my post-tretinoin skin, which gets very dry, sore and flaky: www.lookfantastic.com/cerave-moisturising-cream-340g/11798692.html

TheSpottedZebra · 04/01/2021 20:44

Some people hate it, but 8hr cream is excellent for me for this.

Are you sensitive to anything, eg alcohol in skincare?
What us the rest of your routine?

Apileofballyhoo · 04/01/2021 20:45

Balmonds Pure Potions Moisturising Ointment - you can get it in Holland and Barrett, and it's a bit like Vaseline but not petroleum and has healing properties. La Roche Posay Cicaplast too.

maggiecate · 04/01/2021 20:45

Eight Hour Cream is amazing when I’ve got sore, chapped skin

Ooh yes, this too.
kiwielite · 04/01/2021 20:46

Another vote for Elizabeth Arden Eight hour cream

Lydia777 · 04/01/2021 20:46

Weleda skin food. Over it, put a layer of vaseline/aquaphor to seal it in. Will fix it!

antidisestablishmentarianism · 04/01/2021 20:47

Any old moisturiser, I like nivea soft, then Vaseline on top. Not a good look granted but it feels lovely and my lined old face really appreciates it. Cheap as chips too! I

Palavah · 04/01/2021 20:49

Epaderm or Eucerin. You can also use them as a cleanser.

Laissonslesjoliesfemmes · 04/01/2021 20:50

I also love Skin Food and tend to alternate it with the Cicaplast when my skin is sore as I can never decide which works best!

catwithflowers · 04/01/2021 20:50

Possibly a stupid suggestion but would something like Sudocrem help? Or just E45 cream? They are both inexpensive and I think, pretty effective as an intensive night cream for damaged skin.

CallistoSol · 04/01/2021 20:50

That sounds very sore. Try shea butter with added vitamin E. It's very soothing and moisturising but is quite heavy so I just use it overnight and as lip salve. Try and stay away from anything that has petrochemicals and/or fragrance as these are both drying. Drink lots of water or herbal tea to stay hydrated, wear make up (something gentle like lily lolo - their bbq cream is lovely and you can put it on over moisturiser) to create a barrier in the day. Good luck.

CallistoSol · 04/01/2021 20:51

Arg, bb not bbq...

Zofloramummy · 04/01/2021 20:53

I use Origins facial products and a facial oil. I also suffer with dry, red, itchy skin in the winter. It’s expensive but worth it!
