Trans women are women and many of them are women to look up to!

Eating in front of the TV is fine!

ChestnutStuffing · 02/01/2021 22:29

I've left my washing out overnight and I didn't burn it all in the morning in case of spider willies.

Spiders leave their willies on laundry overnight? I have never heard of this!

Some of mine:

I think it's ok to have May-December relationships and I don't think marriages have much to do with interests in common or being n the same stage of life.

Relatedly, I don't think young people need to go out there and have fun. It might even be a lot better for them to have responsibilities and commitments.

I think all-season tires are stupid if you live where it gets below 0.

I think flotillas of cyclists on narrow roads are being twats.

Mental load/family admin is not difficult or time consuming for the average family/person.

I don’t expect my son to be financially independent at 18, nor do I expect him to move out before he is ready.

Friends are free to visit my home whenever they wish.

bloodyhairy · 02/01/2021 22:30

If your child loses their favourite toy, or breaks their favourite cup, it's not the end of the fucking world. Use it as an 'oh well, these things happen' parenting moment, rather than act like it's the end of the world. It's not healthy to build up their dependence on one thing anyway.

CloseSchoolsProtecttheNHS · 02/01/2021 22:30

I think lots of people want schools open because they can't stand being with their kids every day. They're the same people who dread the summer holidays and post 'hooray, back to school' on Facebook in September.

I think the vast majority of kids being raised at the moment are being taught to be self-centred, entitled and not particularly pleasant to be around.

Dog-loving mumsnetters in the UK are ridiculously aggressive about walking dogs in “heatwaves”.

How they think dogs survive and thrive in the majority of the world that is much, much hotter than the UK is beyond me.

IgiveupallthenamesIwantedareg0 · 02/01/2021 22:31

I love the Jeremy Kyle4 Show - I always feel SOOOOO much better in my own life after watching it while drinklng my morning coffee sittng at my kitchen table! (It lands ccassonally on FB)

CoolCatTaco · 02/01/2021 22:32

Because you are at home! When DD was a baby I slept during the day when she did. During the week DH needed to sleep because he had to get up early, drive to work & work all day. Couldn't safely or effectively do either with insufficient sleep over a period of time.

Mrsfrumble · 02/01/2021 22:34

Having family members provide free childcare is a massive, massive privilege. And working parents who have benefitted from it should realise this and give over judging SAHPs who haven’t been so fortunate.

Namechangeme87 · 02/01/2021 22:35

That if I smoke the odd joint a couple of times a year when child free it is not a direct descent into class a drug addiction

SionnachRua · 02/01/2021 22:35

Are you me! 😂 Can’t wait for my partner to go back to work so I can watch the new episode of Drag Race and play Xbox!

Ooh you might be me...but it's a PS4 house here. So close! 🤣

Also yy to the poster who said something about not having an issue with trans woman and eating in front of the TV. It'll be homemade curry and Drag Race in a few mins for me!

Fandaddydoozie · 02/01/2021 22:35

I like fireworks!

StillCoughingandLaughing · 02/01/2021 22:36

Fictionalised versions of white historical figures should be played by white actors. That’s not racism; it’s common sense.

The vast majority of people who can’t drive get around perfectly well on their own and never expect to be ‘ferried about’ by drivers. It’s the drivers who can’t imagine being without their cars who make a big point of saying they feel ‘obliged’ to offer lifts. Also, most non-drivers (including me) have the sense to know they’re no bloody good at it and are actually making the roads safer.

There isn’t necessarily one right approach to every situation. If YOU don’t mind people just popping in uninvited, that doesn’t mean everyone has to be okay with it, or vice versa. If the woman next door wants to have open house, then that’s fine for her - she’s different to me, not wrong.

If women should have a secret stash of money in case they have to leave their husbands, by definition it’s okay for men to keep some of their money purely for themselves rather than it all being ‘family money’.

Expecting your partner to ask you if they can come home later than planned is weirdly controlling.

Russellbrandshair · 02/01/2021 22:36
  1. If your husband is a lazy feckless idiot, don’t act shocked when he becomes a lazy feckless dad.
  1. We are all responsible for our own health choices and if you choose to eat crap, you will feel crap.
  1. Not drinking alcohol doesn’t make you “boring”. The oppose is actually true- very drunk people tend to be bores who repeat themselves over and over yet believe they are coming across as charming and fascinating
NoCauseRebel · 02/01/2021 22:36

The majority of sleep problems are down to the parents’ unwillingness to deal with them.

A vegan diet is not a healthy diet.

Donor conception should be illegal.

LAgeDeRaisin · 02/01/2021 22:37

Nurses aren't overworked. Hospital doctors are. (Nurses' full time hours are 36 whereas doctors' are 48).

-runs for cover-

Alternista · 02/01/2021 22:37

Teachers don’t have it anywhere near as hard as they think they do.

NoCauseRebel · 02/01/2021 22:38

Oh and, it’s perfectly ok for a woman to want to be proposed to.

Viviennemary · 02/01/2021 22:38

Ironing tea towels isn't ott

CrotchBurn · 02/01/2021 22:38

When a friend doesnt reply to you in ages it isnt because they hate you or are a narc. Its because they are busy, down, or preoccupied.

The UK is a welcoming and open society overall.

It wasnt an accidental pregnancy, was it?

Hippopotas · 02/01/2021 22:38

Runners are lovely considerate people for the most part and other pedestrians don’t have priority over everyone else.

Lludmilla · 02/01/2021 22:39

Trans women are women.

Maisiecow · 02/01/2021 22:39

I don’t dislike cats as a species, BUT the fact they go around shitting in gardens other than their own is unacceptable imo.

ClaireP20 · 02/01/2021 22:40

Good thread! I voted UKIP, particularly surprising to some, perhaps, because I'm a half Indian cockney!
