I would say

Pineapple on pizza is decent

That if this thread truly represents people's opinions it is probably best if climate change takes us all into oblivion...

That I am fully justified in having very little interaction with people if they are all so thoroughly bigoted and judgemental and that I shall continue to aspire to be like Brigitte Bardot or Doris Day in my old age and communicate only with animals- primarily dogs.

And furthermore I shall let them lick my face, give everything in the dishwasher a canine pre-wash and settle down on my bed at night!

TheNortherner · 03/01/2021 11:30

That men who won't help with homeschooling during the pandemic because their non-keyworker job is 'too important to risk' are full of it and just want to avoid childcare and ensure the 'little woman' with her 'pin money' job knows her place.

I love Jeremy Corbyn and think he's a great man and I was genuinely baffled by all the people who say, "I could never vote for him." I just don't understand it at all.

The British are useless at striking and DO NOT help the unions to advance their cause. The amount of times I've despaired over this, living in this country.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 03/01/2021 11:34

House prices should be capped, along with rents.
Developers should be penalised heavily if they don't let 50% of their properties out to low income/unemployed people via council or HA authorities.

Twobrews · 03/01/2021 11:36

Cake smashes for babies are chavvy. Ditto piercing their ears.

I think these are standard MN opinions!

RosesAndHellebores · 03/01/2021 11:37

Oh just thought of a few more:
Weddings are expensive Marriages are not

If you can't save before getting pg, don't get pg

People can do what they like providing it's legal and they can pay for it

The NHS is not free, it's free at the point of delivery and it is not sustainable in its present form.

I love having the title Mrs His Name

Hard work helps with luck

Being well qualified does not mean people are well educated

One glance at how a person eats provides significant information about their upbringing and social class

Teachers are educators not social workers

Young people's MH is the responsibility of the NHS not schools and young people are entitled to privacy in relation to their health and referrals should not be dependent on the school being involved

The abuse of women is seriously understated. I believe it’s much MUCH worse that most people realise. It’s under reported, it’s unrecognised even by the women who are being abused emotionally / financially etc and we excuse it and minimise it at every level of society. Other women included.

Plussizejumpsuit · 03/01/2021 11:39

@Seasaltyhair

People who hate private schools are just jealous Grin
Absolutely not. We just understand what a scurge privilege is on the world. People who go to private schools like to say this as most wouldn't have a chance if they'd had to actually use their ability to get where they are.

You are right but I think this is acknowledged on MN
Plussizejumpsuit · 03/01/2021 11:43

@Seasaltyhair

Don't pretend to be pro equality and social cohesion if you send your kids to private school

The last two Labour leaders both attended private school Confused

Which is why people shi think the labour party are the answer to the tories are dafties! Dives me potty that any anti tory sentiment is counteracted with well Labour...

Think outside the box. We don't need to be stuck with a binary choice of shitty two shade of grey politics for ever.

OlympicProcrastinator · 03/01/2021 11:43

I think it’s even worse than what is acknowledged on here tbh.

Waferbiscuit · 03/01/2021 11:43

Living in the countryside should be for those who work in the countryside - e.g. in agriculture - or service those who live in the countryside and, of course, for wildlife.... but not for city workers who drive bmws, build massive houses and want a pretty view. In essence, people should mostly live in cities.

The British middle class obsession with country living is fucking up the countryside.

CoalCraft · 03/01/2021 11:45

I think men and women are fundamentally the same on an emotional level and that seeing the opposite sex as different and unrelatable is a mindset issue that many people of both sexes are guilty of. I find it far easier to empathise with men with similar histories and interests than women with very different ones.

I think purely platonic opposite-sex friendships are not only possible but very healthy.

I don't think that, in general, transgender people pose a significant danger to cis women, and I think that the hysteria surrounding them on here is massively disproportional to any actual threat.

I think terms like hubby, kiddo, etc are no more cringey than "dear/darling husband" and that people should stop being controlling about other people's word choice.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 03/01/2021 11:47

“ The British middle class obsession with country living is fucking up the countryside.”

Yes, the countryside near me was lovely 40 years ago with little traffic, you knew all the locals and you could cycle about without being mowed down by an Audi!

FoxyTheFox · 03/01/2021 11:48

The weird proportion of kids on MN with SEN, autism and ADHD suggests they've been diagnosed by parents not professionals

There are a lot of parents of SN children here because of the SN community present on the boards. RL support and advice is often patchy so people come online to find it.

As an FYI, SEN and SN are not the same thing. SEN refers to Special Education Need(s) meaning a child has a learning need requiring additional support. SN refers to Special Needs, typically meaning a disability, long term illness, or medical condition. While there is often an overlap between the two it is possible to have SEN and no corresponding SN, and visa versa.

Cautionsharpblade · 03/01/2021 11:50

You can't claim to care about the environment AND have contributed to the global overpopulation problem.

PerseverancePays · 03/01/2021 11:51

Nobody should own more than two dogs

Dog owners should pay £30 a month for each dog they own to fund the cleaning up of public spaces they have fouled.

sixthtimelucky · 03/01/2021 11:52

It is fine to comment on a preggo woman's bump - people are just making polite conversation, not being massively intrusive and offensive

Men are selfish (even the really good ones)

Women are a bit mad (even the really good ones)

Potty training should start at 2 latest, it is pretty grim having three year olds in nappies.

Trans women are women, because if we deny that, we are causing so much pain and mental ill health. So I choose to think that way.

LakieLady · 03/01/2021 11:53

That schools should close to reduce the spread of Covid.

(grabs tin hat and ducks ....)

scubadub · 03/01/2021 11:53

@Waferbiscuit how do you apply that to a county like Ireland?? It's Mostly rural...or are you only apply the stupidity of the comment to the U.K.?

What if you are a farmer and then you decide to become an accountant...do you need to give up your house in the country or sell your farm? Don't be so ridiculous..Hmm

Don't agree with the mostly living in cities bit, but driving Chelsea tractors and destroying greenbelt for show-off designer housing should be made illegal, tomorrow.

I wish more people could see the truth in the last sentence of your post.

funinthesun19 · 03/01/2021 11:55

Families having more than 2 children isn’t the end of the world... literally Smile

Agreed. People want the city job AND the rural lifestyle.
funinthesun19 · 03/01/2021 11:57

Even if you have 1 or 2 children, you have no place telling others they shouldn’t have had more than 2. If you are that bothered about overpopulation then why replace you?

LadyFidgetAndHerHandbag · 03/01/2021 11:59

'Gender critical feminists' are transphobes with a fancy name.
Transwomen are women.
Transmen are men.
Repeatedly dead naming someone is aggressive and rude.
LGBQTIA+ is not "an alphabet soup".
