Marriage can be hard, the answer isn’t always to LTB.

phoenixrosehere · 03/01/2021 09:50

People saying the US health care system is vastly superior have most likely experience insured (therfore privileged) treatment.

I have never seen posters saying this on MN. Usually see them saying we don’t want a US style healthcare system and I absolutely agree.

Most arts and humanities degrees are worthless
Activists are losers
Death is normal
Being a parent is not a job or a human right

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/01/2021 09:52

I got the first two points, but I haven’t worked out the third.

I haven't got any of it! Was wondering what I have missed.

That when they dig up graves thousands of years from now and do genetic testing on them they are only going to find male and female genes.

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 03/01/2021 09:52

The tories haven't come down hard enough on benefits - it's actually the working poor who have been penalised instead of the feckless.

The benefit system (some types of benefit) pays more than people would like to admit, sometimes too much. And it is easier to manipulate than some would naively think.

The majority of benefits should be paid in food vouchers, vouchers to pay gas/electric etc...

Half of the UKs mental health services are clogged up with people with no mental illness, rather just shit life syndrome, costing billions and this is to the detriment of those who genuinely need medical input, whether that me physical, mental or other.

People shouldn't have kids if they can't provide for them.

The dynamic of "DH has a big job and I'm a SAHM" is a barrier to equality and poor role modelling for the children

Enb76 · 03/01/2021 09:55

University should not be for everyone they should be for the most academic - currently they are a way to keep young adults out of the job market and tying them to debt for the privilege. Most jobs do not require a degree even if they ask for one.

PeasNotBeans · 03/01/2021 09:55

I like Seagulls as they remind me of being on holiday.

GoldfishParade · 03/01/2021 09:56

SAHMs should be taxed heavily with this money used to fund free childcare for working families

funinthesun19 · 03/01/2021 09:57

I don’t think every adult/household needs a car.

Mumsnet really confuses me at times. People bang on about about the environment and apparently it’s all big families faults, but in their next breath they think an adult who doesn’t drive is irresponsible. Why does everyone “need” a car? Aren’t there enough cars on the roads?

Cattenberg · 03/01/2021 09:57

@Ereshkigalangcleg, get your ducks in a row and get a shit hot lawyer. But cover him with foliage?

plg21 · 03/01/2021 09:58

I have no issue with people who receive very high salaries
Bankers are not all to blame for the global financial crash, some are hardworking, honest people who are very good at their job, not immoral Wolf of Wall Street types

AnneElliott · 03/01/2021 09:58

Voting remain doesn't mean you're not racist or more intelligent than those that voted leave.

MN is filled with middle class lefties who patronise the working class but would run a mile if they found themselves living among them.

Mulhollandmagoo · 03/01/2021 09:59

@wherewildthingsare where are you? I want to be your friend 🙌

keepsmiling2021 · 03/01/2021 10:00

@NCAficionado

I own a loo brush for every single loo AND a period bin next to them.
Why wouldn't you? How else are you meant to clean your loo's and dispose of your pads? This is a whole new world to me if people don't! Haha
icanboogieboogiewoogie · 03/01/2021 10:00

Those who had kids when they could provide for them, but whose circumstances change, what should they do with said kids? Chuck them in the river?

And, slightly related, Marcus Rashford is an example to us all.

GoldfishParade · 03/01/2021 10:00

@Cattenberg
Simply "leave"...?

JohnMiddleNameRedactedSwanson · 03/01/2021 10:00

'Leave' the bastard, I think.

keepsmiling2021 · 03/01/2021 10:02

@ComtesseDeSpair

Special needs aside, parenting is only as difficult and consuming as you want to make it. I’ve yet to meet an adult who wasn’t toilet trained and only ate chicken nuggets. Honestly - by the time they’re 32 nobody will know or care whether they were breastfed or formula fed, had a WOHM or SAHM, were weaned on organic finger food, had regular attendance at baby sing-song classes, or were allowed lots of screen time. How we all eventually turn out is mostly nothing to do with the minutiae of parenting. Just do your best, don’t be actively abusive or neglectful, and your kid will turn out just fine. Stop judging others for what you perceive as shortcomings, and be a bit easier on yourself for your own.
This!

It's literally in this thread. Various posts saying NHS isn't that good and the US system is vastly superior.
Mrsfrumble · 03/01/2021 10:03

People are as ignorant as fuck about why others might be SAHPs. Less than 20% of mothers whose children have SN and disabilities work. Ever thought about why that might be? Naaah, let’s just mock and berate them and make their lives harder. Fuck off.

EmmanuelleMakro · 03/01/2021 10:05

I am a teacher but I want schools to open properly tomorrow.

JohnMiddleNameRedactedSwanson · 03/01/2021 10:05

That marriage lost its patriarchal history with the introduction of marriage equality for same-sex couples, which (rightly) redefined the institution, and that as a result a marriage is only as equal or as patriarchal as the people in it.

sst1234 · 03/01/2021 10:06

Marcus Rashford has a great a PR machine.
