To get dressed up for NYE?

Just me and DH, the dog and a smelly old cat. I'm heavily pregnant. Haven't really had a chance to dress up for very much lately - even on Xmas Day I made sure to be back in my comfy PJ's for Xmas Dinner!

Tonight I can't make up my mind though. I've some lovely new frocks and sparkly tights. Or I've got a new pair of very comfortable PJ's.

Either way I'll be throwing some sparkly lipstick and eyeshadow on! We've got alcohol free fizz, wine, and cocktails, homemade dips and breads and cheese, there'll be boardgames, a quiz, and some silly dancing.

What would you do?! Posh dress or new PJ's? Is anyone else bothering going all out?

I'm going to be a miserable person this year and hope to be sleeping by 11pm.

Me and DH both getting dressed up after spending what seems like forever in loungewear. Having a buffet tea then watching a streamed gig and dancing in our lounge. Just about to do a full face of makeup and do something with my hair, so excited!

Funnily enough...I’m a Scottish country dance teacher! So I have many tartan dresses and accessories.

Just poured a negroni to get going.

That's amazing! I can assure you that your dance skills will certainly be better than my DH's...he started during lockdown and managed to give himself a hernia in the first week! He's carried on, but with much less "oomph" in the moves. 😂

Halfway house here

Got a nice top on, jersey/comfy trousers, hair done dangly earrings, half make up (so I look semi ok in facetimes/Zooms later and feel semi ok and more like myself) with slippers and daft socks.

I've gotten dressed up. I feel better for it 😀

Just added perfume and a nice necklace to my ensemble. Teens in PJ’s and DH looking scruffy (just come upstairs to get ready). Having an Indian takeaway and plenty of Prosecco.

We are all doing full evening dress. Our neighbours across the field are going to be doing the same and we plan to put our wellies on at midnight and wave across the public footpath. Until then it’s my husband and I staring romantically at each other across a game of Exploding Kittens. ...

What will prolly happen is we all sit messaging each other until midnight or 9pm and then go to bed!

No way! Also staying in and wearing a fancy dress and 5 inch heels.

Loving the image of so many women going all out for glamour, for no-one else but themselves!

I too will be making and dressing up - in the purple velvet delivered yesterday (or my old fail safe black if the purple doesn't suit) and will even attempt to balance on some very high sparkly shoes.
My menfolk will, no doubt, be in their comfiest jeans, but that's OK.

We will be dining on steak and chips then doing a quiz with family on Whatsap something or another...

I’m dressing up! I haven’t worn tights since pre-pandemic but I’m going to dig some out and wear my velvet dress and my good jewellery.

What a lovely thread OP. I am getting dressed up, in fact I have most nights this week as am so sick of jeans. I did fake tan last night, will have a bath soon, paint nails and faff with hair, then black velvet dress and I'm good to go.

It's really quite entertaining - one of those you don't want to stop once you've started. 😂

Ooohh, that makes every outfit feel even better! I can't say the same for myself (the only comfortable maternity ones I've found are very Bridget Jones 😂) but I fully intend to get myself some nice fancy ones for next year!

No chance of fancy dresses in this house were all in pyjamas and have an Italian meal being delivered and some games

I'm loving not having to get dressed up and que for taxis and que up for overpriced usually free ticketed entry only pubs serving rubbish cheap wine!

We're homebodies anyway so making the most of it!

I'm sure many would call me sad but I've never been "out out" on NYE. Had family and friends around and dressed up, but could never quite bring myself to face the city!
