To get dressed up for NYE?

Just me and DH, the dog and a smelly old cat. I'm heavily pregnant. Haven't really had a chance to dress up for very much lately - even on Xmas Day I made sure to be back in my comfy PJ's for Xmas Dinner!

Tonight I can't make up my mind though. I've some lovely new frocks and sparkly tights. Or I've got a new pair of very comfortable PJ's.

Either way I'll be throwing some sparkly lipstick and eyeshadow on! We've got alcohol free fizz, wine, and cocktails, homemade dips and breads and cheese, there'll be boardgames, a quiz, and some silly dancing.

What would you do?! Posh dress or new PJ's? Is anyone else bothering going all out?

The dress code for our family Skype is glad rags! Though my sister in Australia says she’ll be in her pjs.

Good point about the fitting glad rags though. DH bought what I'm convinced is the whole counter of the local cheese shop this Xmas. I have participated heavily in the munching through it... 😂

Well if your DH is getting out the DJ it's only fitting you get to indulge in your posh clothes too! Another good point regarding makeup - I've been keeping on top of eyebrows and mascara, so no doubt I'll look like a clown as soon as the eyeshadow comes out!

I am going to put a dress on later,and makeup etc. I am not some young person though 70 plus. I have until an hour ago been painting my bedroom walls, and some gloss painting on the door. I live alone, and usually went to the village pub for new year, now closed though.

So now will have a bath and get ready, ready for what I don't know, I will eat something, light my woodburner, get my gin and tonic set up, and watch some rubbish on tv, with my three cats sat around the fireplace. All very exciting I am sure!!

Dress up!

DS already has his DJ on and DS2 is about to put a suit on and I'll put on my favourite dress. Not sure we can wrangle DH into black tie but I might have a go. We're having a really fancy long slow dinner by candlelight with champagne and wanted to dress for the occasion.

@FolkyFoxFace no but DS is only 7 and MIL is just staying the night (she lives alone).

It's all about the feather boa and leopard skin (print) trousers for me. Oh, and a glass of champagne.

Murder mystery via zoom at 19:30 so the leopard skin may be wasted. Tant pis.

I’ve just been for a Covid test today so am not feeling my best (chest infection at the least I think) but I’m leaning heavily towards dressing up myself! For no other reason than I don’t axtually remember the last time I did.

Current plan is to jump in the bath once DD is in bed, wash my hair, do a layer of tan, some make up, and maybe even a hair curl if I can muster the energy! We’ll see how that goes or if I’m asleep by 9 😂

We are going to put some dressy clothes on (well out of joggers). DH cooking roast pork with all the trimmings and a nice pudding. Playing games. I hope I can last until 12 as usually in bed for 10 😊

I’ve got shingles, I’m in the bath now about to go to bed so I’ll be in a old comfortable nighty, don’t want my new pjs I want my trusty comfortable attire.

I love reading everyone's plans, they all sound fab! It's put me in a much more fancy mood now! I even used my new fancy bath bits and shaved my legs!

DH is currently trying to attach a new needle to the record player, and I'm trying to decide on a dress before I start makeup and hair.

Wine coloured with white polka dots, or red tartan?! Both have lovely swishy skirts and sleeves!

Found my debenhams closing down sale bargain, reduced from £40 to £7. It’s got a purple sequinned bodice....and it fits! Have also located sparkly jewellery to match, and have popped the Prosecco in the fridge to chill. Australian sis says she’s just off to bed ( it’s 3-30 am there) so she might be late.

So sorry to hear that @GameSetMatch I had shingles that lasted a couple of months earlier this year and it was horrific. The only advice I have is sleep and alternating ibuprofen with cocodamol

PJs! You’re pregnant and not going anywhere what’s the point of wearing a pretty uncomfortable dress and tights?

DP and I are dressing up and DDog has his sparkly bow tie at the ready!

We’re doing an open zoom from 9pm for any friends and family who want to drop in, we have party food for us along with a mountain of cheese and champagne and DP had a couple of online games packs if anyone wants to do those

Not how we’d usually do new year (the motto for 2020 I think) but making the most in the best way we can, enjoy your night OP and everyone else

That is exactly how I'm feeling! Some days I forget what the bump looks like I'm that wrapped up in various layers of fluff and cardigans! Hope you enjoy dressing up, too! Well deserved!
