@Doublefaced

Only on MN could a totally hypothetical situation which is fairly unlikely to happen, could there be 15 pages of angst Grin
You don’t understand

I reeeaaaallllyyyyy need my beauty sleep 😀

81Byerley · 31/12/2020 11:33

@Thewithesarehere

If it saves the economy, I will even accept that they bring out the army to do mass vaccination asap. (Why aren’t they bringing out the army to make it faster? It’s a national emergency!).
I think there's a limit to how many medically qualified soldiers there are who aren't already employed looking after the military!! do you really want some random soldier injecting you??
RandomLondoner · 31/12/2020 11:40

I haven't read the whole thread, so apologies if this has been coverd already, but what would be the point of 24-hour-a-day vaccinations?

Presumably the constraints on vaccination speed are (a) vaccine availability, (b) medical staff availability and (c) patient availability. None of these are helped by doing 24-hour a day vaccinations. (Unless there are medical staff who are awake for a night shift anyway, but would be just twiddling their thumbs if the didn't have vaccines to administer?)

If the overriding constraint were some sort of equipment availability I'd understand.

SweetPetrichor · 31/12/2020 11:41

Yep, I’d take the minor inconvenience of being awake in the middle of the night. Seems like a small price to pay. But I’m in the lowest category so I doubt I’ll have to think about this any time soon!

PinkiOcelot · 31/12/2020 11:44

No.

GreenlandTheMovie · 31/12/2020 11:46

Has no--one on mumsnet ever gone clubbing or partied til 4am? Within living memory? 2.15am, once, is really not exceptionally late.

Covidisdrivingmecrazy · 31/12/2020 11:46

Hell yes

Rememberallball · 31/12/2020 11:49

No; but then I’ve got toddler twins and there’s no way I’d be dragging them out of the house at all hours of the night for anything other than them being ill enough to be seen in A&E!!

boon · 31/12/2020 12:00

YANBU

myhobbyisouting · 31/12/2020 12:01

Why won't people wake their kids up in the night for one off occurrences?

Has nobody ever needed to go to hospital or gone into labour or gone on holiday during the night? Bizarre.

Wilkolampshade · 31/12/2020 12:03

Yep.

ScottishBetty · 31/12/2020 12:07

I wouldn't have any problem with that. I'm young (ish) able bodied and have a car - one middle of the night excursion won't do me any harm :) the day appointments could be left for people who couldn't do a night appointment

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 31/12/2020 12:09

As i said above i would take the vaccine

Has nobody ever needed to go to hospital or gone into labour or gone on holiday during the night? Bizarre

But no...none of the above

sweetchristmastime · 31/12/2020 12:15

A time, anywhere.

myhobbyisouting · 31/12/2020 12:19

@RufustheSniggeringReindeer I was obviously referring to those who gave their reasoning as not being able to wake kids during the night. So precious

NothingICanDo · 31/12/2020 12:25

No. Not at all. But I wont he getting the vaccine full stop.

NothingICanDo · 31/12/2020 12:25

Be*

No, none of the above. It's really not that bizarre.

MarinPrime · 31/12/2020 12:34

Its hilarious...people hurling abuse at those who dare say they wouldn't accept a 2am appointment, generous hearted folk volunteering to take neighbours, relatives and friends without transport for middle of the night jabs, others would turn it into an outing and stop off for a takeaway...

Oh absolutely... I did understand that part

But ive not done any of the things you mentioned...so I don’t think its particularly bizarre

EbenezerSnooze · 31/12/2020 13:00

@openallthetime Wouldn’t you take your kid/kids with you? Wouldn’t they also be getting vaccinated?

This has to be a joke surely? What kind of parent is going to drag their child out of bed in the wee hours (unless some kind of emergency).
OP no I wouldn't for the above reason.

MrsExpo · 31/12/2020 13:01

Absolutely ... can't wait ... I have an alarm clock.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 31/12/2020 13:02

No, no and no. Why would that be bizarre?

Like the national emergency that is Covid? Getting vaccinated (when asked) is the one thing everyone can do to contribute to this mess ending and life getting back to normal.

It's only one night, unless they had other health conditions most kids would be okay.

In the end though, they are unlikely to offer 2am vaccines. I could see them starting at 6am to give immunisers a chance to fit a 4 hour shift in before an 8 hour shift in the day, or running til 10pm or midnight for the sake reason. But 2am isn't going increase your workforce access so won't help that much.

DuggeeHugs · 31/12/2020 13:08

@gurglebelly

Totally. It's only one night, and I'd much rather go at an unsociable hour than wait weeks more

Plus it hopefully means less people about, I'm a little worried about the talk of stadiums etc being used, as I have images of massive crowds of people spreading the virus

Is it not two nights, as all the vaccines approved thus far require two doses?
