Just that really. I have a gift card, and googled if I could buy cigs with it and can't find an answer. Anyone?

It should say on the Terms and Conditions in really small print. I'd guess not, but not 100% sure.

Justreadingtheforum3 · 30/12/2020 11:48

I just looked on their and as long as it's the gift card and not vouchers it looks like you can use at kiosk.

Not sure why people think you're trolling. Smoking isnt for me but it's not an unreasonable question.

LEELULUMPKIN · 30/12/2020 11:51

According to their T&C's yes OP.

Wow ZeroFuchs, how do you know that? That's a massive leap!

Theunamedcat · 30/12/2020 12:00

If its from edenred yes but if/when they find out you will have to pay it all back

VettiyaIruken · 30/12/2020 12:02

Gift card yes.

Free school meal voucher is not valid for any age restricted items.

She probably just got a gift card for Christmas, but of a stretch that she’s using vouchers meant for feeding her children for cigarettes. You need to put the daily mail down I think.

RizzleDrizzle · 30/12/2020 12:09

It’s very possiable that the only “money” op can get her hands on is a Tesco’s girlfriend card.

Now if the free school meals is an ordinary Tesco’s gift card then that’s ridiculously stupid of the suppliers because yeah their are some parents that would prioritise and “baccy and drink” first. I know the majority wouldn’t I’m not bashing FSM receivers. And if you do fall in to that category op shame on you.

But it’s also wrong to assume that is what she’s asking. Because I’ve seen parents literally have nothing but some kind of voucher/gift card to their name.

Mustbe3ormorecharacters · 30/12/2020 12:54

So will it be a) free meal voucher and op is blatantly a troll or b) just some gift cards she has and wants to use them on cigarettes and less likely to be a troll.

They are regular vouchers aldi is the only one who has two types and the only one available through edenred is the non alcohol one so food only
Vitaminsss · 30/12/2020 12:55

I want to know the answer to this too. I don’t want to buy cigarettes though, just Xalin eye ointment from the medicine counter? If I can use a gift card, great, otherwise I’ll just order from Amazon as cheaper

SantasBritchesSpelleas · 30/12/2020 12:57

I've used Sainsbury's vouchers I got given at work on fags.

Vitaminsss · 30/12/2020 12:57

Oops, looks like I wandered into a complicated thread 😂 I personally wasn’t referencing school meal vouchers, just a normal gift card given by Tesco customer service

Bookworming · 30/12/2020 12:58

If Tesco's can't organise a similar system to Aldi they should be ashamed!

Yes I know they should t have to but sadly they do have to.

Take temptation away.

TrialOfStyle · 30/12/2020 12:59

I’m pretty sure general gift cards can be used as a cash replacement for anything in store - inc. cigarettes.

They can definitely be used on alcohol as I have done so in the past.

iklboo · 30/12/2020 13:07

OP says 'I have a gift card'.

Posters make bigger leaps thank Skippy on steroids she's using free school meal vouchers to buy cigarettes and tear food out of the mouths of her children. Which she doesn't even say she has. Some people on here have better imaginations than J K Rowling.

RizzleDrizzle · 30/12/2020 13:16

Thanks I was trying to work it out through the Edenred site but wasn’t sure weather once you’d got your evoucher weather you just got a normal card.

Absolutely, no they shouldn’t have to and for the majority they don’t have too, but I do feel it’s a bit nieve to just give a general card and think people won’t try and bend what they can purchase on it.

However I do agree it was an amazing leap to catogrogically state that op wants to spend her FSM card on fags (absolutely not saying that doesn’t happen just saying we can’t say that’s what’s happening here)

Agreed

Depressingly common though. They've not notices in Iceland that the school vouchers can't be used to buy alcohol.

People have been using milk tokens to buy cigs and alcohol for years.

ramblingsonthego · 30/12/2020 13:21

Wow some people on this thread are unbelievable. How have they got using the school meal vouchers on cigs from this post? Judgy much?
