To NOT want to wax my 4 year old daughter ?????

so whilst having my eyebrows waxed the other day we were talking about hairiness and I mentioned my daughter looks like she's gonna be a bit hairy like me. The waxing lady says "well I would start waxing her now, she'll thank you for it when she's older" ???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She's 4 FFS !!!!!!!! She then proceeded to tell me how she knows a lot of eastern eusopean ladies who wax their children from an early age !!!
Is it just me who thinks its unreasonable to wax a 4 year old ?????

she's obviously desperate for work - and mad. If possible I'd go somewehre else myself.

We'd have the police round if I tried waxing my dd - she has the most earsplitting scream I've ever heard. I've never heard the like!!

I mean just because you wax her at 4 doesn't mean she's going to be less hairy when she's older.

I had to take my dd once when I had my legs done and she wanted to join in the fun. I had to explain to her that waxing was something that grown up ladies did and it wasn't for children. I think the therapist was dithering though .

I know !!! she's not overally hairy poor thing, she's getting hairy legs but at 4 I can't see how its going to affect her !!!! I didn't shave my legs till I was 12 !!
Oh and this is in Italy where they like their women hairy !!!

Tbh it sounds like child cruelty to me. It's a bit masochistic (sp) to have it done to yourself, let alone a child .

I though that children's skin is too delicate to be waxed until they're in their teens. Actually, even mine is a bit to delicate to be waxed at 40, I get lots of tiny bruises where the hair has come out.

Holy Christ! That is one of the craziest things I have ever heard. Talk about an unnecessary waste of time, not to mention painful and boring for your dd. Beauty therapist obviously a nutcase. And she would NOT thank you for it when she's older, she'd be like "Mum. why did you torture me with those wax strips when I was a little girl?!!"

Yet another example of making children grow up too soon. What next? Why not put her in full make up and heels.....

Well, I SUPPOSE you could stretch it and say if the girl was hairy to such a huge extent that other dc might make fun of her and cause her unhappiness, there might be an argument for it. However, I think methods other than waxing would still be more appropriate. Can't believe Eastern European women are all for waxing their girls at that age. They aren't especially hairy folk though anyway, are they? Weird. The woman is a loon.

Actually I know this half-Polish, half-Italian little girl (8) and her Polish mum was always a bit that her daughter had turned out dark-skinned, dark-haired. She dyes her own hair very blonde and she was always going on about how lucky my dd is to be blonde and blue-eyed. So she has some hang-ups there anyway.

I noticed last year she had put light blonde streaks in the girl's hair (at the age of 7 mind you). Really looked fake, yellow stripes in black hair and I couldn't understand the need for it. I wouldn't want bleach on dd's head.

I think it's weird to modify your child's appearance like that. They will do enough of it themselves when they are teenagers. Surely the best thing we can do for them is instil as sense of self esteem that has nothing to do with looks?

YANBU....I had exactly same conversation with my beautician - my DD is 6 came with me and she is dark and hairy like me....she didn't much like me grimacing and wincing (but thinks it is hysterical I have my ladybits waxed as well ).....unfortunatelt kids being as they are a few weeks later she (DD) asked me out of blue if she could have her legs waxed as they are so hairy - we had long chat about being beautiful already but when she was older we could discuss it again...she asked when and I said at least 10!!!

Lol at the Italians liking their women hairy! Not down my way, which is tiresome for me as I'd much rather let it all grow and plait it.

You do have a weird beautician, although mine did mention that 12 would be a good age to start on DD, just as puberty sets in. I was thinking the same anyway as I don't want her to go through what I had to, in the interests of it being "natural and would all disappear over time". Did it heck! My mum has a lot to answer for.
