To NOT want to wax my 4 year old daughter ?????

so whilst having my eyebrows waxed the other day we were talking about hairiness and I mentioned my daughter looks like she's gonna be a bit hairy like me. The waxing lady says "well I would start waxing her now, she'll thank you for it when she's older" ???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She's 4 FFS !!!!!!!! She then proceeded to tell me how she knows a lot of eastern eusopean ladies who wax their children from an early age !!!
Is it just me who thinks its unreasonable to wax a 4 year old ?????

Waxing a 4 year old is a crazy idea. I would opt for permanent epilation by electrolysis, myself.

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I think 12 is still a bit young - about 15 or 16 would be time enough IMO. I had a beauty therapist once who got the wax 'stuck' on my legs, and I wound up looking like a plucked chicken (even more so than the normal redness you get). Imagine if that occurred to a 12-year old and they had to go to school the next day .

hair removal under teen age is totally not neccessary. Once they get to secondary school is when they will prob start to want to

But.... the comment on thanking you.....it is because waxing longterm will stop some of the hair growing back and make the ones that do much finer

About 15 or 16 is what my Mum thought too, and I endured years of going around looking like a yeti and being teased about it at school. I'm very dark haired and so is my body hair and I had 3 years of feeling like an ape.

Nope, I'd def let my DD start waxing at 12, if lonly to spare her so much angst. 15 or 16 is OK if you're blonde but not with our colouring.

Bookof are you hairy ???? fraid you are very wrong - me too years of merciless teasing hating PE very unhappy cos of my hairy legs arms brows...in end stole my dads razor and shaved legs with big gouges etc (was about 13 I think) - would far rather take DD to beautician and get done porperly from start ....regular waxing slows growth makes regrowth thinner and sparser...and life much happier...I agree 4 is much too young but will discuss with my DD when she is older depend son when child is ready and realises it may hurt a bit too start....

michymama · 25/10/2007 13:01

Brangelina - I'm very dark too and mum banned me from shaving my legs till I was 15. One day when I was about 12 I just did it, I couldn't take it anymore, I too looked like a yeti !!! I also had dark hair on the side of my face which the boys at school would tease me about so started using facial bleaches. My mum was not happy but she is not dark like me so couldn't understand. When DD is older if she wants to do it I'll help her all I can but it'll be here choice.

Nononono. I don't agree with putting any child through unnecessary pain. Your daughter is gorgeous the way she is.

Child crulty to wax at 4. FGS.

bookofthedeadmum · 25/10/2007 13:28

I'm not particularly hairy but I used a razor to shave my legs with as a teenager (13-ish+). I only started having my legs waxed in my 20s - I tried it myself about when I was about 17 and could only manage one strip then . I can wax my legs myself now since the hair is a lot finer but I'm back to shaving now.

TinyGang · 25/10/2007 13:28

Maybe a touch of Botox too?

bookofthedeadmum · 25/10/2007 13:32

Come to think of it, my dd(7) has got some 'lines' under her eyes - maybe I should book her in for a brow job? . She'll thank me for it later.

mumeeee · 25/10/2007 14:38

YANBU.4 is much to young to wax.
