Everything’s gone to pot this year and I’ve been getting up, dressed and brushing my teeth, end of.

I’ve no longer any idea of what’s normal!

What’s your morning and evening routine and how long does it take?

Bonus points for sharing what time you get up and go to bed. I’m having to start from scratch here!

I misread and thought it was how long per day, so I said an hour. In the morning I have 30 mins. So 30 mins!

TryingnottobeWaynettaSlob · 26/12/2020 15:21

My DD gets ready and plays or comes in and chats to me while I’m in the shower. It’s not like she needs constant supervision whilst I’m in the shower at 7 years old 🤷🏻‍♀️. A bit different when a baby I used to put her in her baby bouncer while in the shower and sling whilst doing a quick makeup!

JillyCareful · 26/12/2020 15:23

Kids grown up, so I don’t have to look after them. 2 dogs though, who need fed and toileted.

Up between 6-30 and 7
Cup of tea, feed dogs.
Do Spanish duolingo and HIIT.
7,30 hit the shower. I have short hair so it’s easy to look after and only needs a towel dry. Shower, dry, deodorant, body lotion on legs and arms, dress. 15 to 20 mins.
I do my make up in the office-bb cream, hula light on eyes and cheeks, mascara, brow pencil and lips. 2 mins, tops.

Might do a face mask or foot treatment once a fortnight.
Epilate legs once a month, more in summer when they grow faster, shave under arms once a week.

SimonJT · 26/12/2020 15:23

@Grellbunt

But who looks after your kids when you do all this? I’m amazed
I get ready while my son is still asleep, when he was a toddler he would be awake so I would take him in the bathroom with me and then in my bedroom while I finished getting ready.
doadeer · 26/12/2020 15:23

I wake 7.30am, get up at 8am. I don't shower in winter as I always do night before.

I brush teeth. Put vitamin c serum on, suncream and some BB cream, plus some Shea butter on my lips esp in winter when it's cold. Occasionally some red lipstick

For hair either a messy bun, pony tail or down with a beanie type hat. It's wavy and really long so I don't brush it.

So all in all I'd say 10 mins.

I spend every morning in the park or woods so just wear jeans and boots.

TragedyHands · 26/12/2020 15:24

Currently very little.
Apart from teeth, shower every other day wash hair once a week. No make up, and hair dries naturally.

This has to change though as starting new online business so full make up, costume and hair, for skype calls.

Labobo · 26/12/2020 15:25

Less than 10 mins in the morning: brush hair, moisturise, small amount of makeup, teeth. Evening: bath or shower, wash hair, remove makeup, moisturise, teeth - about 20-30 mins,

doadeer · 26/12/2020 15:26

Evening routine... I have a bath always.

Cleanse with a Balm, cleanse with a milk or gel, sometimes acid exfoliate, serum, moisturiser and facial oil.

I'm obsessed with skincare I love love love it. So my nightly Rituals are lovely for me.

There's not much I'd sing my own praises about to be honest but I do have good skin and get lots of compliments.

Happy to recommend products x

30 mintues max inc shower

MummaBear4321 · 26/12/2020 15:28

Maybe my toddler is just odd but if I take her into the bathroom while I have a shower she will stick her hand into the toilet, or climb into the bath, or scream because I have locked the door. Distracting her with a book or a toy lasts 1 minute at best. If I try put makeup on and she is in my bedroom she will open the drawers and take all the clothes out, or demand I constantly put dots of hand cream on her fingers (not hands. There is screaming if it goes on her hands), or she demands to be thrown onto the bed like my DH does with her and has a meltdown if i say no.

Clothes, deodorant, teeth brushed is my standard. Tbh, everything else is not worth the hassle at the minute. I hate it though. I try not to look in the mirror.

AriesTheRam · 26/12/2020 15:29

In the morning
15 min bath
10 mins make up.

At night I take make up off and do a face mask, retinol serum and night cream

Mintjulia · 26/12/2020 15:36

Working from home so

Shower
Wash & blowdry hair
Clean teeth
Moisturise
Pluck the odd hair

Basic makeup if I have a zoom call.

FuckOffDailyFailure · 26/12/2020 15:37

I brush my teeth, wash my face, put on serum and moisturiser, brush hair. Same at night.

I usually shower in the morning, but sometimes at night, or not at all.

Tehmina23 · 26/12/2020 15:42

@Grellbunt sadly I don't have kids

DrunkenKoala · 26/12/2020 15:50

Evenings I’ll go for a shower and hair wash about 9. I moisturise my body and leave my hair to dry naturally. I’ll do my eyebrows then if need doing. I go to bed about 11 and my hair is almost dry by then.

In the mornings I get up about 6.30. I straighten my hair, clean my teeth, wash and moisturise my face and then put make up on, get dressed. Probably takes about half an hour.

I get my hair roots done and my legs waxed every four weeks. I do my finger and toenails every two weeks and touch them up in between. I shave under my arms twice a week.

I’ve had this routine since DC1 was a baby, it was easier to do most things in the evenings. My children are older, nearly 12 and 6 but I still prefer doing it of an evening.

Chocolate1992 · 26/12/2020 15:52

If I’m not leaving the house.. nothing except brush my teeth.

To look presentable about 20 mins, quick minimal makeup. Work, shopping etc

To get actually ready for going out etc about an hour/2

Posturesorposes · 26/12/2020 15:53

Morning: up, teeth, toilet, shower and quick body scrub, moisturise all over: 20 mins (640-7 am - before baby wakes up, whilst spouse sorts DS)

Evening: toilet, teeth, bit of cream etc: 5 mins

upsidedownwavylegs · 26/12/2020 16:20

@Grellbunt

I sacrifice the safety of both the child and the house to the hair gods.
2021hopes · 26/12/2020 16:28

@doadeer yes please recommend the products you use. Especially the acid exfoliator you use.

ekidmxcl · 26/12/2020 16:28

Toilet
Teeth
Less than 1 min total
Get on with kids/dog

2021hopes · 26/12/2020 16:35

Days at home not very long. 15 mins shower includes cleaning teeth. I do use body moisturiser after every shower.

If going out somewhere or days to office can do quick makeup in 7 mins. 5 mins straighten hair.

doadeer · 26/12/2020 16:36

Sure. It depends on budget but many of these you can buy mini bottles and try it before committing to a big one. Only use a couple times a week and not alongside retain if you use that.

Paula's Choice BHA Liquid Exfoliate (small bottle £8)

Pixi Tonic Exoltiating Toner (good entry one I think)

If budget is no object pricey ones I like would be

Good genes by Sunday Riley or ZELENS
PHA+ Bio-Peel Resurfacing Facial Pads

FleetwoodRaincoat · 26/12/2020 16:39

About 30 mins. Shower, wash & condition hair, brush teeth, moisturise, dress, dry hair, style hair, apply CC cream and lip salve. Feel ready to face the day then.

Evenings, wash face and moisturise, brush teeth.

Disfordarkchocolate · 26/12/2020 16:44

Most days I get a 15 minute bath. It's mainly for my mental health. In that time I wash my hair with a solid shampoo bar and wash with a loofah. 2 minutes to clean my teeth, 1minute to brush my hair. About twice a week I low dry my hair (5 mins), minimal make up and the minimum amount of days - so 4 minutes on days I have online meetings.I pretty low maintenance.

It's good you've decided you can cope with more self care. I think you should start gently. Start with something like twice daily teeth and hair brushing because they always make you feel better than add something new every few days. Good luck.

LooneyLovefood · 26/12/2020 16:47

Morning
If I'm washing my hair and going out then it's a 5-10 minute shower, moisturise face, make up on, hair dried and straightened, clothes on - taking an absolute maximum of 30 minutes.
If I'm either not washing my hair or not going out then it's a 2-5 minute shower, moisturise face, eyebrows done and blusher on then clothes - for a maximum of 10 minutes.

Evening
Make up off while in bed with face wipes and that's it - all of 30 seconds.
